Hallo everybody, just asking for some help in an zope development projekt concerning a whole website. the goal: development and implementation an ie-based wysiwyg-editor. VHM & Squid Problems

I have partitioned my server into a collection of sites using the VHM and Squid and a custom URL rewriter. At the hightest level I have the_net <=> SQUID <=> Zope The Zope space is split into a few sites which are independent SQUID <=> (site a) <--these share similar naming a-foo-... (site b) b-foo-... (site c) and the rolocation is to the 'foo' name For safety, SQUID runs on port 80 and zope on port 8080 and looks only at localhost. The rewriter takes URLs of the form http://xx/yy and rewrites them to http://127.0.0.1:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/xx/VirtualHostRoot/yy per the spec. This seems to work. However, when the site begins generating requests, they are all relative to the VirtualHostRoot and so are not found. I suppose another set of rewrite rules will solve the problem--but am I missing some crutial part of the VHM setup? -dra

I'ts in the "/home/zope/start" script. check z2.py for parameters: eg, "-f 23" for port 23. TAL in tables

Hi, I have a problem with rendering complex table. The tal:attributes should look like tal:attributes="class string:row${python:minutes%60}in${step}". But TALES string: "${}" substitute can contain only global-name or path only. I am not able to use global-name because I have no place to define it due to TAL execution order: define-repeat-attributes. Note that I am unable to use <tbody tal:repeat=...><tr tal:define=... tal:attributes=...> trick due to other limitations. I want to get precisely the above view. Any hints appreciated. object paths with dtml-var -- newbie

Good evening, good morning, and good day, I'm having a small but frustrating problem. I've read the book, searched the archives, etc. Any help will be appreciated. with the file object, "mds_logo" in the current folder, the following code works: <html> <body> <dtml-var mds_logo> </body> </html> it does not work, however, if I move the object to the "images" folder and reference it as follows: <html> <body> <dtml-var images/mds_logo> </body> </html> for what it's worth, if I call the logo from the address bar in my browser, it works: http://freezope2.nipltd.net/mds/images/mds_logo Danny

ANN: ZFriday 13 -- a small toy

ANNOUNCE: Pound - reverse proxy and load balancer - v0.9

This is to announce the release of Pound v0.9. New in this release: - Added support for listening on multiple ports/addresses (please see the man page for new configuration directives) - Added support for lock/unlock (required for WebDAV). There is a new configuration option for allowing these requests to pass through. - Support for "old-style" HTTP responses, where the content is simply between the headers and EOF. This was necessary for people who access Pound through Squid. - Fixed a serious problem on FreeBSD: the pthreads implementation defined too small a stack size. - Fixed a small problem in URL parsing. What is Pound (from the Web page) - a reverse-proxy: it passes requests from client browsers to one or more back-end servers. - a load balancer: it will distribute the requests from the client browsers among several back-end servers, while keeping session information. - an SSL wrapper: Pound will decrypt HTTPS requests from client browsers and pass them as plain HTTP to the back-end browsers. - an HTTP/HTTPS sanitizer: Pound will verify requests for correctness and accept only well-formed ones. - an HTTP/1.1 to 1.0 proxy. - a fail-over-server: should a back-end server fail, Pound will take note of the fact and stop passing requests to it until it recovers. - a request redirector - it will pass client requests to separate groups of servers, based on required URL (pattern matching) Pound was specifically developed to serve as a front-end for multiple instances of Zope running on top of a common ZEO storage, but can be used with any other web server. A patch for the Python source of z2.py is available as part of the distribution to allow using Pound's SSL capabilities. Further testing (especially under heavy loads), improvements and suggestions are welcome. Pound is distributed under the GPL. Enjoy and let me know how it works for you. P.S. - from following the discussions on this list and some questions we received it seems like some people consider the VHM as something to be used only in conjunction with the Apache mod_proxy. That is simply not true - the VHM works perfectly well on its own: just click on the mappings tab and set whatever mappings you require. use the zpasswd.py program to create a new one. Comments in the program text. In a true disaster you can remove start and stop and reinstall--that will report out a new administrative password.

Are you sure you installed them in the Python you are using for Zope. In the Linuz distribution (and most) that's in bin/python in the INSTANCE_HOME folder. You neet to use it with the distutils package to get things in the proper place...

Can I uze ZPT outside of Zope?

Is it possible to use ZPT outside of Zope? I want to use it as a standalone application in a similar way that you can use ZODB without using Zope. Yours, Noah
