DTMLFile, the mysterious animal
by Oliver Bleutgen 20 Aug '02

Can somebody explain to me what really happens when I have a method in my product like DTMLFile('www/main.dtml', globals(), filter='Image'). My problem is that I want to modify the stock main.dtml in order to show only a subset of contained objects, so I change the line <dtml-in objectItems ...> to <dtml-in "objectItems(filter)" ...> and now I get a TypeError, "object of type 'list' is not callable" I know that something like OrderedFolder etc. might do what I want, but I'm curious about what really happens here. cheers, oliver

ref another file while adding file in ZMI
by Patrick Price 20 Aug '02

20 Aug '02

Rather than have to upload a file while adding a file object using ZMI, how can I refer to another existing file in the object tree? I tried putting "/root/refs/quotes/file1" in the File box but the file that was added had a mime type of application/octet-stream and worked ok once I set the mime type to text/html. Why didn't it pick up on the fact that file1 is text/html itself? I could copy the file but am trying to learn... -Patrick Price

dtml-tree problems
by Davis Marques 20 Aug '02

20 Aug '02

I'm trying to make a threaded discussion board for myself and am having some problems with the tree function. I'd like tree to list the contents of each discussion folder out in a table format, with one message listing per table row. However, tree doesn't like being inside the table and spits the results out after the </table> tag. Has anyone else ever had this problem? Also, does the Zope mailing list not accept messages from Hotmail? My last 3 postings have not shown up on the list. Davis

Zope times 10
by Roger Erens 20 Aug '02

Hello, with slightly more than 4 months to go before the EOY, would someone (Paul?) care to update us on the progress in increasing the Zope user-base tenfold? And how is Zope-consultancy going on in general, taking the economic down-term into account (US/Europe/Asia/elsewhere)? Best regards, Roger

Problem with Roles & Management screen.
by Andreas Kostyrka 20 Aug '02

20 Aug '02

Hi! I've been trying to define a staff role, which is basically a Manager that can create/edit/delete 2 kinds of objects (OrderedFolder, Structured Document). Now I'm getting a funny behaviour: My test user can access the "/manage" Frameset, but instead of the contents pane, the user gets the website rendered. (The frameset contains the link to manage_workspace, but this seems to be redirected to index_html :( ) So which permission do I need to set, that the "staff" role may really see the management screens? Additionally it seems, that there are "Add Structured Document" permissions, but no "Change Structured Document" permission :( Andreas

ZFloatMenu Help
by Meilicke, Scott 20 Aug '02

20 Aug '02

Hello, I am using ZFloatMenu 2.0.1 on zope 2.4.3, cmf 1.1, winxp. I have created a zfloatmenu called hr_menu, and added a folder menu with a folder property value of hr, where hr is a portal_folder. hr_menu and hr are in the root of my cmf portal. I can click on Preview, and the menu shows up. I can call http://mysite.com/portal/hr_menu/render and the menu shows up. I have not been able to insert hr_menu into another page using any of the following: <dtml-var hr_menu> <dtml-var "hr_menu.render"> <dtml-var "hr_menu.render()"> <dtml-var "hr_menu.folder_menu"> where folder_menu is the folder menu inside of hr_menu. The relevant html source output I get is below, along with my <td></td> around the zfloatmenu. What I see on the screen is nothing - it's blank where there should be the menu. Thanks for any help on how to display the menu. -Scott <td nowrap align="left"> <script language="javascript"></script> <script language="javascript"></script> <script language="javascript" src="http://localhost/portal/portal/hr_menu/ZFMScript" type="text/javascript"></script> </td> The information contained in this email message may be privileged and is confidential information intended only for the use of the recipient or any employee or agent responsible for delivering it to the intended recipient. That should be the cummunity, but --since there are quite a few people in there-- I think it have to be the same people who decide about the Zope releases. (When is it coming out? What will be in it?) They must have the knowlidge to say what's preferred. (Who is that, btw?) > On the other hand, I think you have point when it comes to products. As far > as I know, there is not really a general product guide. So, if I'm correct, you think we should all come with ideas to improve the work of Trevor Toenjes? Yvon
