Does anyone know the comparable SQL for Postgresql. CREATE TABLE log ( log_id integer DEFAULT nextval('log_id_seq'::text), severity character varying(32) DEFAULT 'INFO' NOT NULL, subsystem character varying(80) DEFAULT 'DTML' NOT NULL, summary character varying(256) DEFAULT '' NOT NULL, detail character varying(8192) DEFAULT '' NOT NULL, log_time timestamp(2) without time zone DEFAULT ('now'::text)::timestamp(6) with time zone );

newbie: referencing objects with dtml
by Patrick Price 16 Aug '02

16 Aug '02

Every time I get some time to play with Zope I feel like a complete idiot all over again. It's nice to have constant source of self abuse. I have index_html in my root folder (a publishable resource.. Hah!) I also have a /refs folder, with a quotes folder inside that, with some text/html files inside that. I want to insert one of these files in refs.quotes inline into index_html I had this figured out the other day but I forgot how I did it...probably was using dtml file objects or something... (Zope 2.6.0a1) <dtml-var expr="refs.quotes.file"> while saving this (Save) it doesn't save it, and says instead: says: Error Type: SyntaxError Error Value: unexpected EOF while parsing (line 1) Trying: <dtml-in refs> <dtml-var sequence-item> </dtml-in> says unsliceable object Hope you get a good laugh out of this. :-) -Patrick Price

Mod_Proxy
by Paul T. McNally 16 Aug '02

I have everything set so that I can pass requests for Zope from Apache and but am stuck here: "Now we add our inverse proxy directives, within the main <Directory> context: ProxyPass /Zope/ http://fightclub.org:8080/ ProxyPassReverse /Zope/ http://fightclub.org:8080/" I am running apache 1.3.*. I don't know where in httpd.conf to place the appropriate line quoted above. What is confusing me is in the 'main' part, there are many sections labelled <Directory>. -- Paul T. Thanks. Sorry, my mistake: <tal:x replace="structure here/standard_html_template"/> But METAL is what you want ;-) Chris

Erratci behaviour
by Chetan Kumar 16 Aug '02

16 Aug '02

Hi all I am using Zope 2.5.1 and CMF-1.3b2. With the pages created using ZPT and python scripts I find that the behaviour of the site is erratic. The day I announced the site to a few people to test complaints flowed in. Following is the funny situation I am in: I can access the site from my Linux machine using mozilla. At the same moment I cannot do the same from the adjoining machine (running Win2k and using Mozilla/Netscape6/IE5.5 !!!!) I generally call a python script from the ZPT which calls a ZSQL method and sends back results in a dictionary after some processing. Nothing complicated there. The error message points to the first python script in the page. I have done some dirty-debugging (C-printf style with commenting out lines.) No clues. I have checked all normal things like cookie/proxy settings. This is getting very serious as the site has to be made available to a larger group pretty soon. Any comments ? Regards, Chetan

Netscape/JavaScript/Zope
by Shilpa Shenvi 16 Aug '02

16 Aug '02

We are transitioning from our Apache server to Zope 2.5. While on Apache, each of our press releases had a header done in JavaScript (this header was a server side include). On Zope, I have taken the code from the server side include and placed it in standard_html_header; in turn, standard_html_header gets called whenever a press release is served. While the header loads fine on IE, I can neither see the header nor the body of the document from Netscape. (In Netscape, I can still see the footer). Is there anything I can do so that both Netscape and IE will server the entire page? (We are using Netscape 4.7). Thank you, Shilpa

RE: [ZODB-Dev] Zope and ZODB database connections
by MKinsley＠empirecorp.org 16 Aug '02

Hi Chris, Thanks for your reply. I guess it was alot of information to digest in one message. I will heed your suggestion. What I'm trying to do is hold a connection open to our ZODB database and use that open connnection throughout a user's web session. When the user is done, we will close it. Should I be trying to do this with my own code or is this something Zope can manage for me? How do I accomplish this? -----Original Message----- From: Chris Withers [mailto:chrisw@nipltd.com] Sent: Friday, August 16, 2002 6:04 AM To: MKinsley(a)empirecorp.org Cc: zodb-dev(a)zope.org Subject: Re: [ZODB-Dev] Zope and ZODB database connections MKinsley(a)empirecorp.org wrote: > Hello everyone, See reply on other list, I think you need to take a step back and explain what you're trying to do, rather than how to fix your solution, which appears to be rather a strange one ;-) Chris PS: Posts of this size won't get read by most people :-(

Blark CMF product, anyone using it?
by Jeff Sasmor 16 Aug '02

16 Aug '02

Hello, and sorry for X-posting, but I wanted to reach anyone who might be using the Blark Weblog/Newslog product for CMF. I'm trying to decide whether or not to spend time updating it for Zope 2.5.x and CMF 1.3, but I don't think that a lot of people use this product anymore. If you use it, please email me directly at the address below. I won't see your answer if you reply to this listserv. Comments are welcome, but not required -- I am just trying to get an idea of how many people actually use this product. Thanks! #-------------------------------- Jeff Sasmor jeff(a)sasmor.com
