FTP from Zope
by Dennis Allison 12 Aug '02

12 Aug '02

I wrote an External Method which generates an FTP script to download as source one of my sites. When I pass it to the FTP system it happily logs into Zope and starts the downloads, building the directory tree on the way. Part of the way through it dies on a "too many files" error. And a look at the transaction log says there were lots and lots of file errors. I did not attept to do much of a handshake -- I just stream the commands into the ftp program ftp -m <commands >>log The commands manage the tree traversal and actions on both the source and the destination and follow the general pattern of move to directory at the source create directory at destination (the local machine) mget * move to any subdirrectory (and repeat recursively) Any idea why it bombs? workaround? -dra

I have created an interface for users to upload files to a zope server and everytime they upload the files I create an ExtFile to keep the file metadata. The problem is .. I want the files only to be accessible by Authenticated Users. How can I do this via a Python Script ? ( I Know how to do it manually using ZMI ) I want to do it dynamically using a python script. For four days now, I have been trying to build some simple products - using the Zope Book instructions on product creation and the basic objects that are created when you follow the instructions..... But to no avail - I always get this same error that I haven't a clue as to what it means..... Any help out there on what I'm doing wrong? RE: External Editor/SSL
by abg＠comco-inc.com 12 Aug '02

OK, I downloaded and installed both Opera and Netscape 6.2 and got the same results. Using External Editor through SSL, I'm able to open and edit remote files in my local editor (which is more than I could do with IE). When I close the editor, Zope External Editor throws the following error: Unlock Request Failed 5 EOF occurred in violation of protocol I'd really rather not have to switch browsers to remotely edit Zope objects. Any ideas for getting External Editor to work with SSL through IE 6.0? I don't understand what is making IE barf on this. Is this Zope server available publically? If so, maybe I can have a look. -Casey On Monday 12 August 2002 09:21 am, abg(a)comco-inc.com wrote: > I'm already running the 0.4.2 binary release. Python script problem
by List Subscriber ＠ Neurobs 12 Aug '02

12 Aug '02

Hi, I am trying to call 'zip'(linux) from within my python external method. The is what I do: ### SRC ### import os src_dir = 'some_dir' cmd_apth = '/usr/bin/zip' zip_file_name = 'res.zip' os.chdir(src_dir) result = os.spawnl(os.P_WAIT,cmd_path,'-rv',zip_file_name,'.') print result ### END SRC ### the result is always 12 (zip error: Nothing to do). zip creates the directory structures in the zip file but does not put in the actual files. Now if I do an os.system instead of an os.spawnl it works, however I do not want to use it. What is going on here?? Also I have been able to use 'unzip'(Linux) in the same manner without a hitch. So what am I doing wrong here?? Why shouldnt it work?? TIA AM PS: I have played around with the Python ZipFile and zlib module. Didnt feel comfy so going with this as of now, will probably switch over later. ------------------------------------------------------------------------

merge two ZODB
by smoerk＠gmx.de 12 Aug '02

Hello, I want to merge two Zope instances with different Data.fs to one. First thing I tried was Export and Import the objects from one instance to the other. Problem: the dates and undo information are not preserved. Is it possible to "mount" two Data.fs and copy from one Data.fs to the other? Or how could I preserve undo and the modify date of the objects? I couldn't find anything on zope.org and in the mailing list archive. Please reply also to my private email address, because I cannot read the mailing list today. -- GMX - Die Kommunikationsplattform im Internet. http://www.gmx.net

ZMI Security tab won't stop auto-refreshing itself when accessed via Apache2
by Jeffrey Chan 12 Aug '02

12 Aug '02

I use mod_rewrite to serve Zope from a virtual host. I just upgraded from Apache 1.3.22 to 2.0.39. When I click on the security tab of any objects, the security tab screen autorefresh itself b4 it was fully-loaded by the browser, and it'll keep repeating itself, making it virtually inacessible. It's fine when it's accessed directly (without going thru Apache's proxy). Any ideas? I'll running Apache 2.0.39 Win32, WinXP Pro, Zope 2.5.1. Cheers. _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com
