RE: [Zope] Trapping for empty fields

Thanks Chris, it works. It's a little more typing but that's why they created cut & paste. -----Original Message----- From: Chris Kratz [mailto:chris.kratz@vistashare.com] Sent: Tuesday, August 13, 2002 9:40 AM To: McDonnell, Larry; 'Zope@Zope. Org' (E-mail) Subject: Re: [Zope] Trapping for empty fields Hi Larry, There is probably a cleaner way to do it, but we use dtml-if's to determine whether to insert a string or a null. It's not terribly pretty, but it works. ie INSERT INTO some_table(some_field) VALUES(<dtml-if form_field><dtml-if "form_field ==''">NULL<dtml-else><dtml-sqlvar form_field type=string></dtml-if><dtml-else>NULL</dtml-if> The first test if to make sure the variable exists and is not None, so if you know it always will exist, you only need to test whether or not the string is empty. You may even have luck with sqltest in an update statement and the optional keyword. Hope that helps, -Chris On Tuesday 13 August 2002 09:23 am, McDonnell, Larry wrote: > Hi, > > I am using MS Access dbs for storage (company policy). Zope and HTTPS
by Ben Avery 13 Aug '02

13 Aug '02

Hi, the site I'm developing will need to run over HTTPS, behind a load balancer, maybe with ZEO, and will need to also serve XML-RPC over HTTPS. Is the best thing to do here to run it behind Apache with mod_ssl, or use the ZServerSSL in M2Crypto? and if with Apache, is Apache 2.0 or 1.3.xx better? TIA Ben Avery YouthNet UK

LDAPUserFolder never authorizes
by Joel Burton 13 Aug '02

13 Aug '02

I've installed LDAPUserFolder to test its suitability for an upcoming project. It seems to install fine, and I can add/update users through its web interface, but I can never get it to authorize a user from the LDAP database. 1. The LDAP installation: OpenLDAP 2.0.25 installed from source onto a Linux box. slapd configuration is: include /usr/local/etc/openldap/schema/core.schema include /usr/local/etc/openldap/schema/cosine.schema include /usr/local/etc/openldap/schema/inetorgperson.schema defaultsearchbase "dc=joelburton,dc=com" pidfile /usr/local/var/slapd.pid argsfile /usr/local/var/slapd.args access to * by anonymous write database ldbm suffix "dc=joelburton,dc=com" rootdn "cn=Manager,dc=joelburton,dc=com" rootpw MY_PASSWORD_IS_HERE directory /usr/local/var/openldap-ldbm index objectClass eq I can succesfully perform searches from the command line. 2. python-ldap & Zope Installed properly, can import it. Python 2.1.3, Zope 2.6.0a1. 3. LDAPUserFolder Installed in Products directory. Not broken, no warnings. In folder /ldap, have an LDAPUserFolder with following config: Server: joelburton.com Not SSL Login Name Attribute: cn RDN Attribute: cn User Base DN: dc=joelburton,dc=com Scope=SUBTREE Group Storage: not in LDAP server LDAP Login DN: cn=Manager,dc=joelburton,dc=com User object classes: top, person Encryption: SHA Default user roles: Anonymous Authentication: Cookie I can view my users, add a user (& check with ldap commandline tools that they were actually added) 4. LDAP data: dn: dc=joelburton, dc=com objectClass: dcObject objectClass: organization o: Example Company dc: joelburton dn: cn=Manager,dc=joelburton,dc=com objectClass: organizationalRole cn: Manager dn: cn=bob,dc=joelburton,dc=com sn: bob givenName: bob cn: bob objectClass: top objectClass: person objectClass: inetorgperson userPassword:: e1NIQX1TQmdhelNLejdhNjhpa1I0YUtmZmZPWXBrZ289 'bob' has been given the Manager role & it appears on the Users tab of the LDAPUserFolder. 5. The problem: When I go to http://server/ldap/manage, and try logging in with user=bob, and his password, it never authenticates. I can log in with my user (located in site's root acl_users, not in LDAPUserFolder). The log (turned onto 9, Debugging) reads: (9) Aug 12 12:30:21: joel not found (getUser) (9) Aug 12 12:30:18: bob not found (getUser) (9) Aug 12 12:30:18: No data in _lookupuser for uid bob Any pointers on where to start would be helpful, as would a LDIF file that I could import w/data that I could use demonstrat that this will work. I'm not very knowledgable about LDAP, so it's possible that I've done something wrong with my LDAP setting -- but LDAP's commandline tools seem to be working fine. Re: [Zope] startup exception

<please keep this on the list so other people can benefit from it, too> i think you can use /etc/hostconfig for that, but i am not sure if other things might break if you change that setting from -AUTOMATIC- to a host name. it will most likely give you trouble whenever you connect the machine to a network where that host name cannot be resolved anymore. on the other hand, why can't the "automatic" hostname not be resolved? are you sure your DNS settings are correct? jens On Tuesday, August 13, 2002, at 10:15 , baiewola(a)netscape.net wrote: > Thank you, Jens. need to make zope accessable from only two different IP-Addresses
by Manuel Hendel 13 Aug '02

I already setup Zope, I'm using FreeBSD 4.6 and Zope from the ports collection. How can I define the hosts which are allowed to access the Zope Server on Port 8080? Thanks for any help, Manuel -- The City of Palo Alto, in its official description of parking lot standards, specifies the grade of wheelchair access ramps in terms of centimeters of rise per foot of run. A compromise, I imagine...
