Equivalent to exc_info in python script

Hello All, I'd like to use examine the error type and value when an exception is thrown in a python script, equivalent to: err_type = sys.exc_info()[0] err_value = sys.exc_info()[1] But sys.exc_info can't be accessed from a script. I'm sure there must be an easy way to get at the error value and type, but I can't find it. Can anyone help? Thanks, Jim Gallacher

Virtual Host Monster Problem / Feature / Bug

Hello! The "Mappings" tab on the Virtual Host Monster object in my Root Folder has disappeared. GONE / NOT THERE / DOES NOT DISPLAY / NO TAB. This has happed twice before and the only thing I could come up with was to do a new install. I'm a newbie to zope, so it's very possible that I have gorfed something up. I need to understand what is happening to cause this. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I'm using: Zope 2.5.1 (source release, python 2.1, linux2), python 2.1.3, linux2 Python Version 2.1.3 (#1, May 26 2002, 16:19:18) [GCC 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.1 2.96-98)] Thanks in advance for any advice / help / not laughing in my face. Dreamweaver and Zope

All, I would like to use Dreamweaver to edit my pages once the DTML code has been entered, but it doesn't know that 'dtml-var' is code and displays it on the page. Do you guys know how I can tell Dreamweaver this is code so I can work with the page once I have code in it? I have DW3, but would really like a good excuse to move to XP if possible... Testing IDEs with Zope -- call for some participation?

Hi all, I did some searches on mailing lists and this seems to be quite often asked question or topic of discussion: what IDE or tool suits you (sir)? I just fownloaded Komodo and WingIDE - and also Boa Constructor. During the next 20 - 30 days I will be playing around and testing all of these eventhough comparing them against each other is not that fair. What I am proposing - or asking - is would anyone else be interested to test these tools at the same time and possibly write together a Wiki with screenshots and notes about how to use each of these tools. If more than one person would be writing these comments and sharing notes, we migth get over too much personally biased opinions. And of course these notes would help all the fellow zopistas around the world to put their euros into the rigth software for them and possibly help them also test the software for themselves. Please - I need your help on this, since I donät really have time to go through all these by my self - or have all the ideas on what should be tested. Besides I like in software totally different things than everyone else, since I am one of those GUI guys who likes to see pretty things ,-) Anyone interested now? Reply. Now. Ps. After installing Komodo, WingIDE and Boa I am drooling over Komodo. F*ck it is beatiful, nice and friendly. Even though also WingIDE has partly tips like Komodo - it feels like Komodo rocks. half programmatically authenticated from product

I'm having difficulties 'artificially' logging in a user from filesystem python code. I'm trying to setup a queuing system for converting files that users upload. The uploads are pickled to the filesystem and I then use Xron to fire the conversions at regular intervals. Once the conversion is done, I want it added to the ZODB (along with various default methods), but I also need to check whether the user has permission to add files to the place they tried. I'm trying to perform this check when the scheduled conversion takes place as opposed to when the upload takes place, so I capture the username/password of the uploading user and store it in the pickle. Here's my attempt at logging in programmatically: #Get hold of the original upload folder folder = context.restrictedTraverse(qfile.upload_url) #Authenticate with the same acl_users as te original uploader acl_users = folder.acl_users user = acl_users.authenticate(qfile.user, qfile.passw, request={}) user = user.__of__(acl_users) newSecurityManager(None, user) This works up to a point. The user does seem to be logged in and I can then call a ZODB python script that subsequently calls manage_addFolder (amongst other things). Hi -- I'm trying to take python scripts written to use the email library in Python v2.2.1 and use them inside Zope, but discovered that Zope doesn't use this version of Python. Is there any way to change this? Apache server

I have an existing Apache server, and recently I installed zope without the apache configuration. Now I realize that I would like to use some applications that are run under apache. What would you suggest to do, install another version of apache dedicated to zope or configure the existing one? where can I find out some information on things I have to watch out for either scenario Thanks Hara Dilley
