> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect('/dir/dir')"> > > Note: /dir/dir is the url within your Zope Structure/URL > > works like a champ Yeah, but this line only works if I put an "index_html" document in the root of my zope site and the user types www.myzope.com, but the problem is that he doesn't know that this address even exists. What I want is that when the user type: www.oldsite.com he will be fordwared to www.myzope.com/folder1/folder2/website/ without knowing it and he won't see www.oldsite.com/folder1/folder2/webite in the address bar. He will see the old address. Anyway, thanks for your reply.

Hi, I want to limit access by role to the functionnality within my website. Firstly, I need to remove the view permission from the anonymous role so that users are required to log on to my site. I attempted to do this by unchecking the view permission against the anon role in the security tab of the users folder within the folder I was working in. However, this appears to make no difference: I have even added a dtml-if statement to the contents of the page I'm testing to explicitly check if the current user has view permissions before displaying any data. This has no effect either? Any help much appreciated! Thanks, Richard _________________________________________________________________ Join the worlds largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com

IDE for ZOPE
by Raj NS 15 May '02

15 May '02

Hello I'm trying to write a COMPLETE INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT ENVIRONMENT for zope . I'll soon be out with a layout of how I'm going to work. This mail posting just gives you some idea .Though it is in a very prelimenary stage , i plan to get first prototype as soon as possible. Here I solve some of ur queries (if at all u have) Q.What is IDE for ZOPE? A.To make similarities it is something like a NS-Composer,MS-FrontPage. But exclusively make ONLY for ZOPE development environment. That is you DONT work on the server directly from a webbrowser . You work on a buffer manupulate using tools and send it back to the zope . The main Advantage is that it will be 1.FAST 2.ROBUST 3.Advantage of TOOLs inside IDE ie making sites directly from w-y-s-w-y-g techniques, no need to remeber each and every HTML tags, 4.Attribute access/manupulation for each an every ZOPE OBJECT 5. You can guess the rest. Q.Ok,You sound Gods, Show me codes A.Well, As i told u its in a very preliminary stage. I have not yet released the Codes. I'll do that soon. Q.hmm, Lets cya work till date. A.I'm using Tkinter ( TCL/TK gui toolkit , make by our own Guido ), which is 100% pure Python .The advantage is Platform independens and ofcouse the power of Python. You know IDLE ( python default editor which comes with python) is made in Tkinter. So the codes till now are form Tkinter .In which i'm trying to make tree widget to import objects( I'm stuck here - as im writing this mail ).It uses XML-RPC to get objects from current path to the end Ex. if URL is http://something.com/foo then from current object (foo) to the end of tree ( say foo has bar1,bar2 .. foo/bar1/bar2) ... so I have to make a tree of objects <foo> |-<bar1> -<bar2> (ANY SUGGESTIONS?) Q.I'm using Dreamweaver,Emacs..etc .. Do i need some other IDE? A. Dreamweaver/Emacs are not IDEs at all , well they might help you manupulate objects but not there properties. The reason is that they use FTP/WebDav .. which dont transfer properties ... (mostly ) ... where as XML does More over they dont know atall about an customerised objects. Q. How much you ganna charge? A. Im not M$ , It will b free open source.Provided you burn some of your braincells to enhance its features :) Well, Though I'll really excited towards having a IDE for Zope . It all depends on you responce guyz , Hope Im not disappointed. Pivot Table operation
by Smith, Neil 15 May '02

15 May '02

Does anyone have any existing code to do something like the pivot table function from excel on data coming from a ZSql method? The query does something like: select a, b, count(c) from x group by a, b And I would like to have the output displayed like: | B1 | B2 | B3 | B4 | ... ----+----+----+----+----+ A1 | A2 | A3 | A4 | ... folders with same names (newbie question)
by Marie Robichon 15 May '02

15 May '02

First of all, thanks for your patience for reading this long post.......I posted it twice a while ago but had no replies so am trying again...... Our development site has approx the following structure: index_html - About | Guided Tour | Machine - Jobs - Beamlines - Machine | Parameters etc Inside each folder is a contents_html document. The index_html is at the root and displays this content under a generic banner with drop down menus (Javascript) with links to the top level folders and their subfolders. Local navigation is generated via a treemenu which generates absolute_urls. However we get the following error when clicking a link in the treemenu, to http://mysite/About/GuidedTour Error Type: KeyError Error Value: Parameters Traceback (innermost last): File /zope/Zope-2.5.0-solaris-2.6-sparc/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 150, in publish_module File /zope/Zope-2.5.0-solaris-2.6-sparc/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 114, in publish File /zope/Zope-2.5.0-solaris-2.6-sparc/lib/python/Zope/__init__.py, line 158, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: GuidedTour) File /zope/Zope-2.5.0-solaris-2.6-sparc/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 98, in publish File /zope/Zope-2.5.0-solaris-2.6-sparc/lib/python/ZPublisher/mapply.py, line 88, in mapply (Object: index_html) File /zope/Zope-2.5.0-solaris-2.6-sparc/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 39, in call_object (Object: index_html) File /zope/Zope-2.5.0-solaris-2.6-sparc/lib/python/OFS/DTMLMethod.py, line 127, in __call__ (Object: index_html) File /zope/Zope-2.5.0-solaris-2.6-sparc/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_String.py, line 473, in __call__ (Object: index_html) File /zope/Zope-2.5.0-solaris-2.6-sparc/lib/python/OFS/DTMLMethod.py, line 120, in __call__ (Object: javascript) File /zope/Zope-2.5.0-solaris-2.6-sparc/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_String.py, line 473, in __call__ (Object: javascript) File /zope/Zope-2.5.0-solaris-2.6-sparc/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_With.py, line 76, in render (Object: Machine) File /zope/Zope-2.5.0-solaris-2.6-sparc/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_With.py, line 60, in render (Object: Parameters) KeyError: (see above) I presume that Zope moves up to the root to pick up the index_html then moves back down until it finds the first "Machine" folder, which is not the one we want then raises an error. Does this mean that in Zope no two folders can have the same id? This would cause problems when our contributors edit their parts of our site. Is there a way around this other than naming the folders differently? I remember seeing something about tpId somewhere.... Critical Question for Dieter - Testing with <dtml-in Catalog>
by Michael 15 May '02

15 May '02

First of all, I want to thank you for all of your help in the past. Every question of mine you have responded to has been right on target. I am trying to put up a site, was counting on Zope as a solution, am out of money, behind schedule, have posted this question before and got no response, can not find any documentation, and do not have the money to hire Zope Corp consultants to help fix it. I'm mortgagedto the hilt, and if I can't find a solution, I'm history. I have a new account form which can be filled out on line. I'm auto-generating a unique id in my product class by : <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('ts', ZopeTime())"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('id',_.str(_.int(ts)))"> <dtml-with "candidate_info_entry.createInObjectManager(REQUEST['id'], REQUEST)"> ---(from the web tutorial) I'm trying to keep people from entering some of the same information twice such as email address. (I am using their email address as their username for login, since it is unique) I need to be able to test the Catalog to see if the username is already indexed, and if so, raise a message that that username is already on file. I've tried : <dtml-in Catalog> <dtml-if "_['username'] == _['sequence-item']"> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect('/duplicate_record')"> <dtml-else> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('username', username)"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('password', password)"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('password_confirm', password_confirm)"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('user_hint', user_hint)"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('user_fname', user_fname)"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('user_lname', user_lname)"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('user_email', user_email)"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('user_city', user_city)"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('user_state', user_state)"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('user_province', user_province)"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('user_country', user_country)"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('title', user_fname+' - '+user_lname+' -'+user_email)"> <dtml-with "manage_addProduct['CandidateInfo']"> <dtml-call "candidate_info_entry_add(_.None, _, NoRedir=1)"> </dtml-with> I've tried many other possibilitiesas well, but it just blows past and enters the record anyway. I also tried setting the email address as the id and then do a "try and except", but that doesn't work either Do you know a possible solution to this, or where I could find some documentation on it? I'm desperate. Thanks in Advance, Michael
