Smart redirecting? Help me in a script call in standard_error_message
by e-Musty 29 Jan '02

I'm developing a new site under Zope to replace our old one. This development came with a complete restructuring of things, including folder structure and file names. I thought it would be great to have a smart redirector that would redirect requests for the old (currently non-existing) URLs to the corresponding new URLs. I however did want to avoid writing hundreds of pages (DTMLs) just for containing the well-known REQUEST.RESPONSE.redirect('/newfoo') expr. Instead, I've made a small Python script to do the job by defining a list of tuples for the possible bad requests in which each element contain two items, the old URL (URI) and the corresponding new. To say so, I've made a mapping from old directories to new directories in the following manner: Assume that you had a folder named "/foo/bob" and the HTML files "/foo/foo.html", "/foo/foo2.html" and "/foo/bob/bob.html". The new site, however, contains the folder "/newfoo" as the corresponding for "foo" and "/newbob" for the old "/foo/bob/". The corresponding docu for "/foo/foo.html" is "/newfoo/newfoo_html", while "/foo/foo2.html" does not have such a corresponding page and the index_html of "/newfoo" should be displayed. In this case you should make a mapping like: mappings = [ ('/foo/bob', '/newbob'), ('/foo/foo.html', '/newfoo/newfoo_html'), ('/foo', '/newfoo') ] Iterating over the list and matching the actual REQUEST's URL to the first item of each tuple, the right URLs are constructed. Then the client has to be redirected to the new URL. Let's call the script doing the whole job "redirector" Then I changed my standard_error_message so that it first invokes the redirector script in case of NotFound errors with the <dtml-call> tag. What my problem is: the redirector script cannot be called, although it is in the same folder as standard_error_message, because Zope encounters a 404 error and displays its own standard error message. Does any good fellow have any idea on how to call that script without having Zope so crazy? Thanks in advance, e-Musty

exUserUolder docLogin
by mgapp 29 Jan '02

Hi! Is there a way to use a custom login Form without enabling cookie based Login with exUserFolder? How does this docLogin thing work at all? If I don't access the docLogin method directly I get a standard web browser authentication window even with cookie based authentication turned on. If anyone out there has experience with exUserFolder I'd really be glad to hear form you! Markus

Using cadaver to connect to Zope's WebDAV port when forwarded over ssh ..
by Jean Jordaan 29 Jan '02

29 Jan '02

Hi all I'm trying to do this: ssh -l user -L 8800:localhost:8800 remotehost.co.za But this is what I'm seeing:: [jean@blommie jean]$ cadaver dav:!> open localhost:8800 Looking up hostname... Connecting to server... connected. Connecting to server... connected. Connecting to server... connected. Connecting to server... connected. <... repeats forever ...> Terminated by signal 2. I was expecting something more like this:: [jean@blommie jean]$ cadaver dav:!> open localhost:13800 Looking up hostname... Connecting to server... connected. Connecting to server... connected. dav:/> ls Listing collection `/': (reconnecting...done) succeeded. Coll: Catalog 0 Dec 21 08:04 Coll: Contacts 0 Dec 5 13:06 Coll: Control_Panel 0 Dec 20 15:42 Coll: DocumentedProducts 0 Feb 5 2001 <... etc ..> Has anyone else encountered this at all? What I actually want to do is to use continue using sitecopy with Zope (see http://lists.zope.org/pipermail/zope/2001-September/099817.html ), and I'm using cadaver to try & troubleshoot --- sitecopy hangs when connecting. -- Jean Jordaan Upfront Systems http://www.upfrontsystems.co.za

ProxyPass and CGI
by Oliver Erlewein 29 Jan '02

Hi I'm using ProxyPass to serve my Zope content. Since I'm no Apache pro and don't quite get arround to grasp CGI / PCGI / FastCGI I hope that you can help me. I have following httpd.config: ... <VIRTUALHOST 192.168.xx.xx:443> ServerName server.isp.de ServerAdmin server(a)isp.de ProxyPass /misc_ http://server.isp.de:8888/misc_ ProxyPass /p_ http://server.isp.de:8888/p_ ProxyPass / http://server.isp.de:8888/VirtualHostBase/https/server.isp.de:443/sqs/Virtu… ProxyPassReverse / http://server.isp.de:8888/VirtualHostBase/https/server.isp.de:443/sqs/Virtu… ProxyVia on SSLEngine on SSLCipherSuite HIGH:MEDIUM SSLCertificateFile /usr/local/apache/conf/ssl.crt/sqs.crt SSLCertificateKeyFile /usr/local/apache/conf/ssl.key/sqs.key <Files ~ "\.(cgi|shtml)$"> SSLOptions +StdEnvVars </Files> <Directory "/home/sqs/data/cgi-bin"> SSLOptions +StdEnvVars </Directory> SetEnvIf User-Agent ".*MSIE.*" nokeepalive ssl-unclean-shutdown Customlog /home/sqs/data/log/ssl_request.log \ "%t %h %{SSL_PROTOCOL)x %{SSL_CIPHER}x \"%r\" %b" </VIRTUALHOST> ... As far as I understand this I use ZServer to serve the content through ProxyPass. Now I want to use CGI. What do I have to change? I found instructions on how to do it with Rewrite but not with ProxyPass. Please HELP! Thanx Oliver Erlewein -- GMX - Die Kommunikationsplattform im Internet. http://www.gmx.net

Debugging Zope (again)
by Lennart Regebro 29 Jan '02

29 Jan '02

I'm still totally lost when it comes to the debugger. I'm not able to set a working breakpoint. I can steps through the code, and I notice that the point where I have set the breakpoint is reached. But yet, when I do a 'continue' it never stops at the breakpoint. Could somebody plese give me a step by step instruction on how to set a breakpoint with the pdb, so I can figure out what I'm doing wrong? I'm using Zope 2.3.3 on Windows 98.

Setting absolute URL context for mod_pcgi served folders
by Adam Haberlach 29 Jan '02

29 Jan '02

I may have things set up inefficiently, feel free to correct me. o. I have Zope running through mod_pcgi. o. In my Zope "Root Folder", there is an 'extranet' and 'intranet' folder, as you can guess, they contain our intranet, and an extranet served up with LocalFS. o. I serve up the extranet just fine, since Apache doesn't really know that Zope is there (we just use Zope to allow for remote editing of content) o. The Intranet's URLs, however get 'intranet/' prepended to them, since they are in the intranet folder of the Root. How would I fix this, and is it a mod_pcgi issue or a Zope issue? The relevent pcgi conf information is: SetHandler pcgi-handler PCGI_ROOT intranet PCGI_SetEnv SiteRootPATH / -- Adam Haberlach | Who buys an eight-processor machine and then adam(a)newsnipple.com | watches 30 movies on it all at the same time? http://newsnipple.com | Beats me. They told us they could sell it, so | we made it. -- George Hoffman, Be Engineer
