If you want to encrypt/decrypt something specific to a user why don't you prompt the user to enter a key, and then use they supplied key to encrypt/decrypt. This will function somewhat like a password - if the user doesn't supply the same key that was used to encrypt the data, the decrypt will not work. If you want to read a file from the server filesystem then you will need an External Method, but this is very easy to do (googling will get you lots of help and you can also find help in the Zope Book). Help! Zope Crashed! Production Server!

Hi; I'll afford a server to experiment on before year's end, but that doesn't help me today. I was trying to get Python 2.3.5 to work with LDAP on FreeBSD. I built py-ldap2 from ports and directed it to install Python 2.3.5 (because I'm using Zope 2.7.8 because my software won't migrate yet). It built out okay. The person who ran this box previously didn't understand FreeBSD's port system, so he built Python in a different place. I moved all of that for safety's sake (at least, I thought I did), and then ended up moving it all back because I couldn't fire up Zope (I have 2 instances). Then I was able to fire up Zope *and* import LDAP (the latter indicating something from my new installation stuck). When I ps wax I see Zope is working. However, when I surf to sites, or even the IP address, it just hangs! I cleared out log/event.log and touched it and fired up in runzope mode, but there was nothing strange in the event.log! And I've been over that log many times lately, so I would recognize something different. I presume ZServer is hung. How do I trouble-shoot this? Hi, has anyone ever implemented a pdf generating/creating proposal system in Zope? (i.e. creates a pdf that is customized and editable). CatalogPatch && PloneSecurityInjector

Hello, How do I programmatically log out a user from Zope ? I've asked this question before, but was told to : 1. Redirect the user to a page that always raises Unauthenticated. See manage_zmi_logout. 2. from AccessControl.SecurityManagement import noSecurityManager noSecurityManager() Are there any other ways out there ? Regards, Danny

delete latest transactions

How, if possible, can one delete the latest transactions in Data.fs? If I wanted to delete all transactions after a given date, can I do that? if not, is it possible to load the Data.fs -file using python and somehow export a given object and subobjects (like export in the zmi)?
