Change language with PTS

I'm still a i18n newbie. My product (running in zope 2.8.5) now has a domain.pot and se.po file inside '/i18n/'. I've translated the text using KBabel (boy what an unfriendly program) but had to manually edit the headers to saw that the translation was to Swedish, sv. PlacelessTranslationService picks them up fine in Control_Panel. Now, perhaps this works if my browser setting was 'sv' but it isn't. I actually don't want to use the browser setting at all, I want to control with via my own cookie and url traversal stuff. Ideas? PS. Hi Peter, First at all, I think Localizer may be easier to do this task, it has Built-in Cookie and traversal url support. You may also define your own language selection method. To set the language you want with PTS, you have to set the HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE as follows: REQUEST.set('HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE',lang) where lang could be 'sv'. Please note that you have to do this at the beginning your your ZPT Template or DTML method. I have had problem when doing this in the middle of the code. I think cookies could also work, but I haven't tested the code myself. You will need to set them via the request object like this: REQUEST.RESPONSE.setCookie('lang','sv', max_age=something) lang = REQUEST.cookies['lang'] PTS doesn't support traversal url. Anyway, you can still achieve this with Access Rules. There is an outdated how-to that can give you an idea on how to do this: How To build multilingual sites with SiteAccess: http://www.zope.org/Members/jdavid/MultilingualSiteAccess There you will see that SiteAccess is mentioned, which is deprecated; however, I think this Product was replaced by SiteRoot and Access Rules (somebody correct me if I'm wrong). You may need to google about this. As mentioned in that How-To, it was superseded by Localizer, so, you may look at the source code of this product as well. Regards Josef

If I use import time I'll become the error message You are not allowed to access 'time' in this context Is it not possible to do this???? iterating dictionaries with dtml-in

Hi, I know it's a silly question. But I was not able to find an example for this: I have a list of dicts like [ {'name':'John','age':27}, {'name':'Marc','age':17}, {'name':'Susanne','age':19} ] Now I want to iterate each 'name' like <select> <option>John</option> <option>Marc</option> <option>Susanne</option> </select> I want to do this with DTML. <select> <dtml-in getDicts> <option> HOW CAN I PUT the keys 'name' HERE ???? </option> </dtml-in> </select> (getDicts returns the above list of dictionaries) Thanks and greets, Ferhat __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? ZEO Problem

Hi; I'm reading the Plone book. It states that for Zope 2.7 (I have 2.78) ZEO is built in by default but must be instantiated thus: cd /opt/Zope-2/7/bin ./mkzeoinstance /var/zeo or some such code. So I tried this: cd /usr/local/zope/278/bin ./mkzeoinstance.py ../../instance2/var/zeo where 278 is my installation, instance2 is a Zope instance (I have 3), and mkzeoinstance.py is the command that works (mkzeoinstance by itself doesn't print anything to screen other than a command failed message). The Plone book then states that I must move Data.fs into the new /zeo/var dir, which I did. Everything seems to go well. If I start Zope using runzope I get this output at the tail end: ------ 2006-09-02T13:15:35 INFO(0) Zope Ready to handle requests However, if I try to log into the ZMI my passwords don't work. I even tried creating an emergencyuser and that didn't work, either. What to do? Also, should I move these other files into the new zeo/var dir? Data.fs.index Data.fs.lock Data.fs.old Data.fs.tmp I tried that, also, with negative results, but it seems to me that if I'm moving Data.fs I should move these others as well. TIA, beno

As an experiment, can you try running zeoctl as the root user? If this works, then it is definitely a problem with the permissions that your 'zope' user has (the error you described is normally a permissions related error). Jonathan
