hello andreas, thanks for the response. u said Import/Export is supported between Identical installations only, then can u pls tell me how to migrate an application from an older version of zope to a newer version ? reg LDAPUF versions...we hv LDAPUF vers 2.2beta on old server. on the new system we hv installed LDAPUF version 2.7. following is the error i get when i access the URL Error : AttributeError ErrorValue : findUser pls note that no authentication dialog pops up unlike on old server. it is trying to run as Anonymous User(i confirmed this by commenting authentication part of the code..i was able to get to the home page). Zope hands when database takes too long to respond

Hello, We wrote an application (on Zope v2.7.6-final) that queries a MySQL database via ZMySQLDA v2.0.8. Whenever the MySQL server experiences heavy load, Zope seems to hang, such that we can't even access the ZMI. Is this a bug in version 2.7.6 or ZMySQLDA ? Or are there some settings I can tweak to adjust some database connection timeout value ? Regards, Danny

Authentication Problem with migration from Zope 2.6.1 to Zope 2.9.4

Dear users, we have a zope application on an older system running Redhat 7.2 and Zope 2.6.1 with python 2.1. Now we wish to migrate the application to latest stable relase of zope 2.9.4 with python 2.4.3 we hv installed zope 2.9.4 and imported the application through .zexp file. this application uses LDAPUserFolder for authenticating against an LDAP server. After importing the application we recreated LDAPUserFolder instance as per the instructions. Now the problem is, when we access the application the Authentication pop-up dialog is not coming up and the application is trying to search the LDAP directory for Anonymous user and since the user does not exist in LDAP it is returning error Error: findUser. In the old zope server basic authentication dialog pops up when we access the URL. Can anyone suggest how to solve this problem ? How to configure the application as protected resource(we are using the built-in ZServer) so that authentication dialog pops up when the URL is accessed ? any help would be greatly appreciated. tal assignment

I wanted to assign a list object to a tal global variable but I can't seem to find the correct syntax. I tried: <div tal:define="global mylist=['item1', 'item2']" tal:content=""> blah </div> but it doesn't like that syntax. Need help tracing my application errors.

Greetings. I have a problem with an application we have hosted in Zope, and I thought you could give me a hand. Basically, my question is: what's the easiest way to trace errors raised by a python script that's part of the application? This is the exact situation: I have to modify such application. It is a very big application, with a lot of python scripts, sql methods, etc... After testing it for the first time after the modification, nothing happens. By this I mean there is no error message, yet I know the application doesn't work right, since no data were inserted into the database. If it was an application developed in some other language, I'd just print messages on the screen to carry on with the debugging, and be able to know where the application is going. But this doesn't work with Zope. I just can't write "print 'some message'", because nothing gets written on the screen... I have tried with the Error_log object, but since the python script doesn't raise exceptions, no exceptions is captured by such object. I'm out of ideas here. What I basically want is some way of printing stuff somewhere, maybe a file, or the screen itself, to know where the application is in every moment. That way, locating the error would be far easier. Please, any help with this will be highly appreciated. Thank you very much in advance.

request.locale - do we have this in 2.9.4?

Hi! I'm using Zope 2.9.4 with Five1.4 (linux box). I'm trying to use DateDisplayWidget (from /zope/app/form/browser/textwidgets.py) I get: *Error Type: AttributeError* *Error Value: locale ... Can't stop Zope, machine hanging

Hi all, My Zope is stuck like never before. With my server on another continent, 8 hours time difference, and on a Sunday, I am pulling out my few remaining hairs... Our box runs FreeBSD 5, Zope 2.78 (if I remember correctly) and Squid. The ISP has been preparing for a move and shifted some machines, pulled some wires, and I see that the machine has rebooted. I can't restart or stop Zope - '/usr/local/www/Zope/zope01/bin/zopectl stop' just produces '........' for a long time - should I wait? I was unable to kill one of the python2.3 processes, and can't even reboot the machine, using 'shutdown -r now', as I have done previously in extremis. Any ideas? If you do increase this value, you also need to increase the number of database connections avialble (via 'pool-size') which will increase the RAM required by your appserver. Thanks Tres. I found 'zserver-threads' in zope.conf, but couldn't find 'pool-size'. Am using Zope 2.7.6. Is this something available on higher versions of Zope ? Regards, Danny

Hi. I am having some strange problems getting copy and paste to work propperly in python script Basically I do: parent.manage_copyObjects([currFold.id], REQUEST) in one script, and: dest_fold.manage_pasteObjects(REQUEST) in another I have tried a lot of variations, and read all that I could goolge about it, but stil it won't work.
