Ticking Security boxes via Python
by Peter Bengtsson 08 Oct '01

08 Oct '01

When an object (sub class to my new product I'm working on) is created I in it, create a user folder and user in there with the role "TimeTable User". Suppose that I create this container, click "Security" and makes the following settings: 1) View is NOT acquired 2) To get View you have to be either "Manager", "TimeTable User" or "TimeTable Manager" little ticked boxes across the View permission. How can I do this with python?? I have tried this: def __init__(self): bla bla # do stuff via python instead of the ZMI self.manage_permission('View', roles=['Manager','TimeTable User','TimeTable Manager'], acquire=0) This throws an error: Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: aq_acquire Traceback (innermost last): File lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 223, in publish_module File lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 187, in publish File C:\Program\zope240\lib\python\Zope\__init__.py, line 226, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: LockableItem) File lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 171, in publish File C:\Program\zope240\lib\python\ZPublisher\mapply.py, line 160, in mapply (Object: addTimeTableAccount) File lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 112, in call_object (Object: addTimeTableAccount) File C:\Program\zope240\lib\python\Products\TimeTable\TimeTable.py, line 84, in addTimeTableAccount (Object: LockableItem) File C:\Program\zope240\lib\python\Products\TimeTable\TimeTable.py, line 145, in __init__ (Object: LockableItem) File C:\Program\zope240\lib\python\AccessControl\Role.py, line 234, in manage_permission (Object: LockableItem) File C:\Program\zope240\lib\python\AccessControl\Role.py, line 152, in ac_inherited_permissions (Object: LockableItem) File C:\Program\zope240\lib\python\OFS\ObjectManager.py, line 256, in _subobject_permissions (Object: LockableItem) AttributeError: (see above) Basically, how do I go into the ZMI, -> Security and tick boxes with python code? peter

2virtualhosts on 1 zope, apache in front
by Christoph Folberth 08 Oct '01

08 Oct '01

Hello ! Being in desperate need for help on the follwing problem, i am asking you to help me. Here comes the problem: I have one ZServer listening on port 7080, which should run 2 different virtual hosts called atp.decodon.com and ughagh.com. In the ZopeDB the files for the atp.decodon.com are located in the root-folder / - and the files for ughagh.com are located in a subfolder called /play/Test. In the root-Folder /, there sits a virtualhostmonster. An Apache serves as a Proxy with the following Configuration: <VirtualHost 172.31.1.7:80> ServerName ughagh.com ServerAdmin webmaster(a)decodon.com ProxyPass / http://localhost:7080/VirtualHostBase/http/ughagh.com:80/play/Test/VirtualH… ProxyPassReverse / http://localhost:7080/VirtualHostBase/http/ughagh.com:80/play/Test/VirtualH… </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost 172.31.1.7:80> ServerName atp.decodon.com ServerAdmin webmaster(a)decodon.com ServerAlias atp.decodon.com www.atp.decodon.com ProxyPass / http://localhost:7080/VirtualHostBase/http/atp.decodon.com:80//VirtualHostR… ProxyPassReverse / http://localhost:7080/VirtualHostBase/http/atp.decodon.com:80//VirtualHostR… </VirtualHost> So far, everything works fine, EXCEPT: when i am in ughagh.com, which is actually a subfolder of atp.decodon.com, i can move up the directory tree, to the files which are supposed to be seen only from atp.decodon.com... (I can do this, simply by entering an existing Filename of one of the upper Directories) Now, i am asking anyone who knows about this, how (by which Product or whatever) i can stop anyone moving up the directory-tree to the files which should belong to the domain atp.decodon.com. Being quite a Newbie, i would appreciate help, which is understandable by a partial zope-dumb. Thanx, in advance!! Chr.! PS: I also tried to edit the VirtualHostMonster, but it didn't help!

Simple Login-Form
by Henning Eiben 08 Oct '01

Hi List, maybe it's just (or something) ... I want to build a plain and simple form for users to authenticate ... how would I do something like that? (Well I already know some DTML and stuff, and I know HTML to setup a form alright) How do I have to design the action the form is pointing to? -- Henning Eiben eiben(a)weite-welt.com

Can anyone recommend a Zope friendly ISP...
by Tim Owen 08 Oct '01

08 Oct '01

I have a small site being developed in Zope (version 2.4.1) that will use PostgreSQL as the database and I need to develop it with two others who are remote. I found NIP doing a Google search, but I was wondering if there are others that will host Zope and PostgreSQL in a non-dedicated server environment and who would do it well. I checked Valueweb, Interland, and Rackspace. All would do it dedicated, but PHP/mySQL appears to be the non-dedicated option. Valueweb's site says they support Python, Perl, and PHP, but I am not sure if Zope fits under the Python/Perl category. Wanted a recommendation before I start making calls. I have a couple of other items that I would appreciate feedback on: 1. The site needs email list management and a method to send receive them. Seems like Mailman and Sendmail are the natural choices or does Zope have a product or interface that can handle that need. The list manager will need to be able to send email reminders to a single email address or list on self-scheduled basis. Are these the right tools? 2. The site is a "community" type site where individuals can login and save information related to self-improvement and share it with others (either the public at large or specified email addresses). Any recommendations as to Zope products that should be considered. 3. Does anyone have any recommendations as to a Zope product or other tool for doing PostgreSQL administration? 4. Anyone used ActiveStates' Komodo for Python/Perl development with Zope? If so, would you recommend it? 5. Finally, there will be some minor banner ads put on the site. Any recommendations on a good banner ad product or tool that is Zope friendly. Thanks in advance. ___________________ Tim Owen Cell: 517.285.7071 Home: 989.224.4905 eFax: 425.940.5905

Allowing anything through means that people implementing session data storages have to do work to handle j. random object types as session keys. Anthony

love and light to our organization
by Getta 08 Oct '01

08 Oct '01

Hello! Bonjour! Hola! Buna ziua! Buon giorno! Getta is here! Listen... A loving angel came to me in my dreams, and showed me life's not always what it seems, and brought me to a place where sweet dreams live, and gave to me a gift that I now give: She whispered, "Take my hand, I'll lead you through a place where all the sweet dreams can come true! Close your eyes and open up your heart, For then this flight of dreams so sweet can start. She brought me through the darkness to the light, Where colors wrapped around me with delight, a patchwork quilt of beauty without seams, each color was a rainbow full of dreams. She led me through a hall of lovely sound, with doors flung open widely all around. And from each room a song would gently play, And I wished with all my heart that I could stay. http://web.yeehaa.com/dreams/ We drifted in the fragrance of the breeze, to savor all the flowers and the trees. We tasted all of life that we could see, And felt it flow as one in harmony. Then my angel turned to me and said "You're the keeper of these dreams inside your head. Dream sweetly now, and dream of love and light, And dreams will lead you safely through the night. I am the keeper of this dream, it's true, And I offer all my dreams to each of you. May their loving sweetness visit you each night And fill your soul with love and warmth and light! Want to find the HAPPY NEWS? It's here: http://web.yeehaa.com/dreams/ Don't want another letter from Getta? Reply REMOVE.

url_quoting and getURL
by Lambert Muhr 07 Oct '01

07 Oct '01

I am cataloging mysql-data with zcatalog following the how-to provided by zope-member rbicker. this works fine. since I use batch-processing to build web pages containing e.g. 3 mysql data records per page, the uid's, hence the url's of the zcatalog's objects are e.g.: /base/select_mm_url/2/show_intro?start=4 in the search results' page I use the following code to link to the results: <A HREF="&dtml.-getURL;">link</a> unfortunately, the link on the web page turns out like: /base/select_mm_url/2/show_intro%3fstart%3d4 what is my mistake? I was believing I would have to turn off the automatic url-quoting using the entity reference '&dtml ....;' by putting the '.' after '&dtml'. but it seems, this doesn't work with 'getURL'. if so, what other possibilities do I have to "get" the results' "url"? thanks for any hint. lambert

permission problems during debugging Zope
by Christoph Wierling 07 Oct '01

07 Oct '01

I try to debug my Zope (Zope-2.4.1) application by the use of the following script ('debug.py'): import Zope, ZPublisher from AccessControl.SecurityManagement import newSecurityManager def zope (url): app = Zope.app() admin = app.acl_users.getUser('admin') newSecurityManager(None, admin) ZPublisher.Zope(url, d=1) Then I start up python and import this module. By calling >>> debug.zope('/') I can debug without any problems, but by calling >>> debug.zope('/manage') I get the following traceback during debugging: Traceback (innermost last): File /src/Zope-2.4.1-src/lib/python/ZPublisher/Test.py, line 263, in publish_module File /src/Zope-2.4.1-src/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 187, in publish File /src/Zope-2.4.1-src/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 162, in publish File /src/Zope-2.4.1-src/lib/python/ZPublisher/BaseRequest.py, line 463, in traverse File /src/Zope-2.4.1-src/lib/python/ZPublisher/HTTPResponse.py, line 581, in unauthorized Unauthorized: (see above) In my Zope application 'admin' does have the right to access '/manage', so in principle it should work. Does anybody know, way I run into an unauthorization error? Christoph
