I'm running 2.4.1 on W2K workstation as a service. When creating and uploading images, the content is blank - however if I upload the image as a file, it works fine ? I noticed that the files MIME type was image/pjpeg (progressive jpeg I assume), is the standard image MIME type fixed to another type, causing the browser to miss interpret the stream ? Regards

Formulator advice requested
by Jean Jordaan 20 Sep '01

20 Sep '01

Hi all I'd like to start using Formulator for forms as much as possible. Now I'm looking for info about programmatic use of Formulator. Is it possible to get Forms out to the filesystem in any way? Or at least to get the code for the creation of the Form onto the filesystem? By Form creation code I mean: enumerate fields, types, names, validators, preferably in a block of Python. Then call an Add method if the Form doesn't exist yet, or manage_changeProperties if it does. Has anyone been doing this, and would you be willing to share code? I've googled the mailing lists but only came up with release announcements. This is a rough cut that works from DTML. The first time you run it, uncomment the block that does the creating:: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <h2><dtml-var title_or_id> <dtml-var document_title></h2> <h3> Adding a form </h3> <dtml-comment> <dtml-if newForm> <dtml-call "manage_delObjects('newForm')"> </dtml-if> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('submit', 'add')"> <dtml-comment> This returns to the management interface without executing the rest of the script. :/ </dtml-comment> <dtml-with "manage_addProduct['Formulator']"> <dtml-call "manage_add('newForm', 'title', REQUEST)"> </dtml-with> </dtml-comment> <dtml-with newForm> <dtml-call "manage_addField('stringF', 'string field', 'StringField')"> <dtml-call "manage_addField('textF', 'textarea', 'TextAreaField')"> <dtml-comment> This leaves the management interface. :/ </dtml-comment> </dtml-with> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> -- jean

*Designing* Zope sites
by Joel Burton 20 Sep '01

20 Sep '01

I've been learning about the workings of Zope: ZClasses, ZSQL methods, Python products, etc., and there are *lots* of resources about the APIs, and lots of products to add content to our sites. There is also lots of help on how to *set up* a Zope site: how to tie w/Apache, etc. What I haven't found yet, though, is much advice on how to *design* the Zope site: . effective ways to use User Folders . whether to make containing folders for like objects (eg book reviews), and collect these for lists with objectValues, or whether to add them under user folders/different contexts, and use ZCatalog searches to find them. . how to handle printable pages throughout a site . strategies for using ZSQL methods throughout a site and so on The Zope book tosses some nuggets of advice here and there, but doesn't build up a site, so we don't really get to see the workings of a talented Zope architect. Other documentation focuses on how to Do Things, like use SQL methods, or how to build products. I've had a little bit of time to look at the CMF, and that has some structure about reviewing, etc. (and seems to advocate the 'place things in user folders, use ZCatalog to find' method); however, I'm not designing something that seems so portal-ish, and this seems like a hegemonic solution to a design question. So: Am I missing any resources on fitting it all together? Are there 'example sites' that someone could describe? Would anyone with a well-designed site be willing to export it all up and post it somewhere, so we could explore it? Or are there other ways of starting this learning path? -- Joel Burton <jburton(a)scw.org> Director of Information Systems, Support Center of Washington

remote publishing
by mberger＠snow.nl 20 Sep '01

20 Sep '01

Hi, I am a new user of Zope and am still stymied by one question: can documents/objects be published on remote machines? For example: consider Zope installed on a development machine. Once pages/sites have been proofed in Zope, can they be moved -- published -- (by Zope) to a production machine? If so, how? Barring that possibility (publishing to a remote machine), is it possible to alter the URL of the documents? So, assuming everything is done on one machine, how can the index page of a folder within Zope become the index page at the top level of a domain served on the same machine? We are not using the ZServer, btw, but Apache. Thanks for any help, pointers, etc. Cheers, Mike Berger Snow BV Waardenburg, The Netherlands

WG: Zope and static page building
by Florian Schuler 20 Sep '01

Hello List, I´am a newbe in Zope. In the past I used RedHat´s Interchange for contend management which offers the possibility of static page buling. My question is now whether Zope support such a possibility, too. Thanks Florian

try this tar -xvf ZMailIn-1-0-0.tgz It sounds like someone forgot the -z flag when they created it. Unable to create new objects
by Priya Ramkumar 20 Sep '01

20 Sep '01

Hi, I am using Zope2.3.3 & CMF1.1. Everything was working fine but now all of a sudden, I am unable to create new objects. Once I login, I am able to see the list of existing documents, news items etc. But when I click on "New", it asks for the username & password again. After even typing the correct username & password, it does not allow me to create the object but instead gives me a "Site Error".
