RE: [Zope] Question: Virtual Site Hosting on Zope

Consider using Squid as an http accelerator, a Squid redirector (internally rewrites URLs prior to proxy; I use pyredir - it is written in Python, and is easy to modify), and a virtual host monster. Squid can load balance multiple back-end web servers (well, round-robin), which makes this an especially useful setup if you ever see youself using ZEO. This setup bypasses the need for using Apache to interface with Zope, and Apache running on a different port can be proxied to as well by squid, based upon how you have set up your redirector rules. Is there generally considered to be a 'best way' of doing Virtual Site Hosting on Zope? I have skimmed some HOWTOs on www.zope.org, but I am afraid the material may be a bit dated and a 'better way' may be generally known. Any help would be appreciated! Re: [Zope] Accessing Properties from dtml

> Hi > I'm trying to access properties from dtml. Something like <dtml-var > FolderA.FolderB.ItemA.PropertyA> works just fine. Now I want to use that > functionality in a loop (simmilar): > <dtml-in "objectItems()"> > <dtml-var "'FolderA.FolderB.' + _['sequence-item'] + '.PropertyA'"><br> > </dtml-in> hi, <dtml-var "FolderA.FolderB[_['sequence-item']].PropertyA"> should do it. Surely someone else can elaborate better or more correct, but let me just say that the '.' as you used it in your working example is not part of an object id, it describes a python operation, the attribute lookup, i.e. a.b tells python to look up the attribute b in the object a (where "looking up" is duty of a). But <dtml-var "_['FolderA.FolderB.' + _['sequence-item'] + '.PropertyA']"><br> tries to lookup an object whose name is "FolderA.FolderB.." (as you wrote). Don't know what exactly happens then, but it's clearly not what you want. cheers, oliver

Asyncore.py
by Ben Ocean 18 Sep '01

Hi; For some reason my new build of Zope-2.4.1 didn't build certain files, including asyncore.py and asyncore.pyc (in ZServer/medusa). I'm suspecting the reason is because I have 2 versions of python running and in order to specify the latest I must type python2.1 at the command prompt. Is there some way to specify this version of python in the build, or does it look for this automatically, or am I missing something else? TIA, BenO

Is Chris psychic?
by Roger Erens 18 Sep '01

This is not a Zope-question but a mailing list-question. Frequently I get messages from the list which are answers to questions that haven't been asked yet. For example, Curtis Ruck's question was sent to me monday, 17-9-01 18:29 and Chris McDonough's answer was sent monday, 17-9-01 18:38. However, in my inbox they are received at 18:40 and 18:35, respectively. My, that's answering fast! As has been noted by Curtis already :-) Can I adjust some settings somewhere to get this right, because this ordering confuses me. Or has it to do with some mailserver along the way? BTW, I'm forced to use MS Outlook. Best regards, Roger

How to count files in a folder?

Hi again everyone, I am really getting deeper and deeper into Zope and find it amazing what you can do with it. Well, I would rather be supposed to take care about my studies - but that's a different story ;-)... As I go further and further, of course more and more questions arise. Usually I try to find the answers in the mailinglist's archive. If there is another good (searchable) source of information, could someone please point me to that. Ok, now my question: I want to count the number of files within a folder (the folder does not have subfolders), so I can say "This folder countains ## pictures". How can that be done? Thank you very much in advance, Jan Jan(a)Mountainbikehq.de http://www.MountainbikeHQ.de - Your home for DH, DS and CC Mountainbiking

FYI, Outlook does show real headers, but you have to go into the message options to view them. >>>>BTW, I'm forced to use MS Outlook. >>>>Best regards, >>> >>>The email from Chris contained a "References" header that a mail >>>reader *could* use to work out that it was a reply to the email from >>>Curtis. Outlook doesnt do that. >>>
