gvib kinterbasdb firebird linux
by W. Robert Kellock 24 Aug '01

I have for some months now been utilising, very successfully, gvibDA on Windows 2000 with Zope 2.3.2 and Firebird. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for RedHat 7.1 (very much a Linux newbie so be gentle ;- ). I have installed the latest Zope 2.4.1b (which uses Python2.1) and Firebird binaries and they are working fine. However when I compile gviBase.so and attempt to use it within Zope or Python (both 1.5 rpm and 2.1.1 compiled from source) I get Import error: undefined symbol isc_dsql_execute I assume this means that the compile process cannot see the Firebird shared library libgds.so, but I can't see why. I have tryed to edit the Setup.in file to import /usr/lib/libgds.so instead of the more usual -lgds but it makes no difference. Can anybody help me out? I have also tryed kinterbasdb, but when I import it I get Import error: undefined symbol crypt I know I'm supposed to editing kinterbasdb's Makefile to include -lcrypt but I'm not sure where. gvib is my main priority, but a copy of an appropriate Makefile for kinterbasdb would also be much appreciated. CoreSessionTracking and Zope-2.4.1
by Joachim Schmitz 24 Aug '01

24 Aug '01

Hi, I installed 2.4.1b1 the same way as my 2.3.3 with the Products directory in ZINSTANCE_HOME created symlinks to the actual products, startet Zope, and all Products show up except CoreSessionTracking, its not broken, its just not there. I copied it into the Products directory, same thing :(( Did someone successfully install CoreSessionTracking in Zope-2.4.1b1 Mit freundlichen Grüßen Joachim Schmitz AixtraWare, Ing. Re: image hot fix

Hi Philip, I'm cc'ing the list, perhaps someone has some input... comments interleaved. > From: Philip Aylesworth <phila(a)purpleduck.com> > Date: Thu, 23 Aug 2001 20:36:13 -0400 (EDT) > To: info(a)bowery.com > Subject: image hot fix > > > Hi Marc, > > I have to tell you that this image hot fix is exactly what I need! I was using > Photo but it is no longer supported and this does things more the way I want > to. > > I am modifying it so that it will have several default sizes that can be > cached. Actually, if you look at the code, i *think* I have stuff in there to allow you to use it with a RAMCache. The idea being, make a RAM cache for caching all thumbnail images, not just private caching for each instance. I'm still unfamiliar with how that all works in Zope, but architecturally I think that's the best place to put a cache (external to the images themselves). I still don't see how to get this caching to work for all instances, it seems the caches need to add one instance at a time... But this way, they are stored where appropriate (cached), but not stored inside the image (which could lead to unneccessary data.fs bloat). > I am not to swift with python yet so I just went in and duplicated the thumb > method and made some methods called "preview", "small", and "medium"giving > them > default sizes of 160X120, 320X 240, and 640X480. The way I have it working, if you call tag() with the same size twice, at the least, the client browser should use the locally cached version (at least, it did for me), so I don't see that it's necessary to have specially named methods. For example, in my CMFPhoto and in the original ZPhoto, the thumbnail pages always call tag with a size of 80, so they'll be cached (at least per client) the second time around. >I have this working now but I > noticed one little bug in your code. The "keys =" line reverses the height and > width. I fixed this by replacing it with: > > keys = {'width':int(width or height), 'height':int(height or width)} Doh! Thanks for pointing it out! I guess that gives me a reason for version 0.2 (along with changing the name to image HotPatch!) -- though I'm hoping to figure out the RAMCache situation (help! somebody!) first... > > Now I have one question, if you don't mind. How do I make the tag method > return > a URL for the size of image that I want? I see that you have thumb hard coded > in > there. If you have time to take a look at this I would really appreciate it. I have thumb hard coded (in tag), because that's the method the browser will then call (with arguments) to actually fetch the image. I guess, if you're rolling with the three special method approach (though I don't think it's necessary), then in tag I guess you'd either create a new parameter for tag (size=[preview, small, medium]) or match one of the three names with a range of sizes, and put more if/elses in there to return the right one. > > Thanks for the great work! > > Phil. > > Philip Aylesworth > phila(a)purpleduck.com

Squishdot 1.3.0 Released!
by Chris Withers 23 Aug '01

23 Aug '01

Squishdot 1.3.0 is now available from: http://www.squishdot.org/Download. The following major changes were made: - Squishdot is now compatiable with Zope 2.4.0 and above but still works with Zope 2.3.x. - Many, many bugs were fixed and a lot of refactoring was done. - A fairly complete PyUnit test suite has been written. See http://squishdot.org/Documentation/Changes for full details. **This release requires Zope 2.3.2 or later!** If you run into problems, remember Squishdot has a mailing list at YahooGroups and a bug collector on SourceForge. cheers, Chris

Bug in PostGre adapter for Zope, for type string in arguments of ZSQL Methods (?)
by acg 23 Aug '01

23 Aug '01

(ok, sorry, i´m spanish.. ;-D) I´m trying to do something like this in a ZSQLMethod: select * from table_name where table_field1=<dtml-sqlvar argument1 type=int>; And it works successfully. But if I try with: select * from table_name where table_field2=<dtml-sqlvar argument2 type=string>; I get an unexpected error: Error, exceptions.NameError: global name 'string' is not defined -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SQL used: Could not render the query template! I have tried some another ways to access the query: select * from table_name where table_field2='<dtml-sqlvar argument2 type=string>'; select * from table_name where table_field2=<dtml-sqlvar argument2 type="string">; select * from table_name where table_field2='<dtml-sqlvar argument2 type="string">'; ... But, nothing. If i try this: select * from table_name where table_field2='value'; It works successfully again. Why can´t Zope render the query template? Why does Zope say "globla name string is not defined"? I´m using... Zope 2.4.0 Python 2.1.1 Linux ZPoPyDa (Last Version? I´m not sure of this) I need the Help. Every comments can help me. Thanks. RE: [Zope] ZCatalogAware: changing catalog name
by Rob Foster 23 Aug '01

I just recently ran into the same issue... You can create a Python script in the methods directory of your zclass that sets the default catalog to a different ID... Example: # Example code: # Edit the property sheet and reindex. context.manage_editCataloger('TheNameOfYourCatalog') Hope this helps. Rob -----Original Message----- From: Karsten Kraus [mailto:Karsten.Kraus@swr3.de] Sent: Thursday, August 23, 2001 3:17 PM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] ZCatalogAware: changing catalog name Hi there, I used the Chapter about "Automatic Cataloging" as base for my own catalog-aware Product. It works as expected, if the ZCatalog has the Id 'Catalog', but doesn't work if I give it an other id (e.q. TestCatalog). Where do can I change the id used for the ZCatalog in my Product/ZClass? Hmmm, does that mean I can't get it from the zclass (inside the product) itself, only from an instance of it? -----Original Message----- From: Chris McDonough [mailto:chrism@digicool.com] Sent: Wednesday, August 22, 2001 4:02 PM To: Rob Foster Cc: 'zope(a)zope.org' Subject: Re: [Zope] Quick question about traversal...
