In my case, the actual deadlock happens in a system library routine (sigaction, as I recall), making the identification of the component that's actually at fault rather challenging for someone like me. Fortunately, something in FreeBSD's threading implementation must have changed between RELENG_5 and RELENG_6, because Zope doesn't become completely unresponsive now. (This is in regards to a post of mine from last year, i.e. http://mail.zope.org/pipermail/zope/2005-March/157400.html.) Sir, I received your email, but I am very sorry that I do not have time to reply in detail. In short, no, Zope will consume all available CPU cycles after some amount of idle time, due to a threading-related flaw in Zope, GRUF, Plone, LDAPUserFolder, python-ldap, or OpenLDAP (I don't know which). Lucky for me, upgrading from FreeBSD 5.4 to 6.1 reduced the severity of this problem. Under FreeBSD 6.1, Zope does not completely deadlock, and any web site access after Zope begins spinning will bring it out of this 100%-CPU state. I don't have this problem on Zope/Plone servers running under Fedora Core 4/5, so I've considered switching to Linux. Please note that I had to hack the FreeBSD ports tree in order to force it to use Python 2.3 with Zope 2.8. Email me privately for the details. ZODB corruption

Deep in the mists of time I guess that the server's time was wrongly set for a short period leading to 4 transactions in the database having a later time stamp than subsequent transactions. This caused no problems in operation apart from an inability to pack and a failure in ZCatalog. As a trial I patched the errant transactions' tid to bring them back into the correct range and everything now appears to be in order, I have successfully packed and cataloged the db. Can anyone see any reason why I should not continue to run like this or is there a possibility that I have introduced a corruption which will come back to bite me......? Links? The jump to Zope 3 is a huge one, and it is no surprise that existing CMS's have not yet made it. I personally believe that the Zope 3 architecture is very compelling, and we are trying to leverage some of that for Plone. If you want to see an actual CMS implemented fully in Zope 3 you many want to look at Tiks, http://www.tiks.org/ . A large non-CMS application making use of Zope 3 is SchoolTool. There are many resources on the net describing the features and advantages of Zope 3. Alec

Hi, Right now I'm using Zope 2.8.1 with interface of plone 2.1.1 and Python 2.3.5. I'm planning to upgrade the version interested in migrate to ZOPE3.2 . Before that I need to know one thing. " Does Zope3.2 provides support to check last modified person's name in recent modified tab. ?" In Zope 2.8.1, In recent modified link it was always reflecting owners name, not the person who modified the file. Please provide me information regarding this. python is using 99.9% CPU in Zope
