Render SQL method as lines
by Kenneth Ellested 20 Mar '01

How do I render a SQL method as lines ? I'd like to make a DB lookup for a Multi-Selection property. This is my DTML method (getNames is a SQL method): <dtml-in getNames> <dtml-var name> </dtml-in> But this renders as a string which is not compatible... Regards

Logging Question
by Sherwood(Work) 20 Mar '01

20 Mar '01

I have been reading all the documentation on the Zope logging and trying to figure it all out. But for some reason the information just doesn't seem very clear. We are having trouble with logs getting up in to the 700M and Zope Starts to suck down resources. I see there is a way to rotate logs but how to do this still just keeps escaping me. Every time I try what it looks like it is telling me the server wont start. Is there a way I can get zope to Just record Errors and not Get and Post since my apache already does that and with the actual user IP not the servers? Also how do I get this log to rotate out Daily? The documentation on the Zope site is very unclear and incomplete as is the documentation in, Logger.py, Zlog.py and Zlogger.py. Hi Zopists, for long time I have used modified by myself LDAPAdapter python product for Zope 2.1.6 on my Linux Debian box. Now I would like to upgrade my python products to work on Zope 2.3.0 My product is properly installed in Zope (I can see it) but when i try to add an instance of my product into the Zope, an error is raised. Can one protect dtml from being rendered?
by Bernd Worsch 20 Mar '01

20 Mar '01

Hi there! My final question for today: When i generate a new document A and take the document content from some kind of template B, is there a way to get some dtml in the document rendered and some inserted directly? Suppose SomeVar holds 'SomeText' and AnotherVar holds 'AnotherText'. How do i protect AnotherVar so that <dtml-var SomeVar> <dtml-var AnotherVar> becomes SomeText <dtml-var AnotherVar> after insertion? Thanks Bernd -- -----Bernd Worsch-----------bernd.worsch(a)frontsite.de--------

avoiding nested DTMLs
by Timothy Wilson 20 Mar '01

20 Mar '01

Hi everyone, I'm trying to figure out how to do something here while avoiding nested dtml tags. Here's what I've got: I have a TinyTable containing two fields: "name" and "status". I have a DTML Document in the same folder as the TinyTable for each "name" in the TinyTable. I want to display that DTML Document based on the value of "status" in the TinyTable. Here's some code: <dtml-in testTable> <dtml-if "status <> ''"> <p><<< insert DTML Document here >>></p> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> So in the code above I want to insert <dtml-var spam_html> (which is a DTML Document in the current folder), for example, if the TinyTable contains a line that looks like: "spam_html", "X" I hope I'm making myself clear. Anyone have any ideas? -Tim -- Tim Wilson | Visit Sibley online: | Check out: Henry Sibley HS | http://www.isd197.k12.mn.us/ | http://www.zope.org/ W. ZClass direct variable access
by Phill Hugo 20 Mar '01

20 Mar '01

Is there a way to access property sheet variables from a zclass method without knowing which property sheet it is contained within. For example, Class A has two prop sheets, S1 and S2 and Var1 is in S2. I can do container.propertysheets.get('S2').getProperty('Var1') or (if I has subclassed ObjectManager)... container['Var1'] The latter form I prefer since it doesn't require knowledge of which sheet I'm really using but it only works if the zclass is based on ObjectManager. In other cases it raises an exception (AttributeError, __getitem__) Any ideas or should this be added to the collector (I've a feeling a basic __getitem__ should be included in ZObject for this type of thing). dtml login
by David Kyte 20 Mar '01

20 Mar '01

Hi, I want to create a DTML method/form that provides a login for other areas of the site ie form contains username/password text boxes and then forwards to userfolder protected areas. I presume that some manipulation of REQUEST is required. I've scoured the zope and zdp sites and not come up with anything. Thanks
