We get problems Zope is backed up!
by 3dfestival - WebMaster 29 Jan '01

29 Jan '01

Does anybody have a solution for our big problem? How do we backup in another way...? When our Zope-site is being backed up we have different probs... We have (kind of) have figured out that the problem is only (!) occuring when we change something on our site OR somebody adds something to our site, while it is being backed up... We are using Zope v2.2.4 running in Apache on a Linux-machine.... ( = Stoons = ) - Webmaster @ 3D festival (http://www.3dfestival.com)

Hello, I was trying the following dtml-method (just from the book) in my Zope 2.3.0 Windows NT installation <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-let person="'Bob'"> <dtml-var person> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> And when i pushed the save changes button, i got this: "No closing tag, for tag <dtml-let person="'Bob'">, on line 2 of nog" (nog is my method). This was the traceback: Traceback (innermost last): File C:\PROGRA~1\ZOPE\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 222, in publish_module File C:\PROGRA~1\ZOPE\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 187, in publish File C:\PROGRA~1\ZOPE\lib\python\Zope\__init__.py, line 221, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: nog) File C:\PROGRA~1\ZOPE\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 171, in publish File C:\PROGRA~1\ZOPE\lib\python\ZPublisher\mapply.py, line 160, in mapply (Object: manage_edit) File C:\PROGRA~1\ZOPE\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 112, in call_object (Object: manage_edit) File C:\PROGRA~1\ZOPE\lib\python\OFS\DTMLMethod.py, line 310, in manage_edit (Object: nog) File C:\PROGRA~1\ZOPE\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_String.py, line 388, in munge (Object: nog) File C:\PROGRA~1\ZOPE\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_String.py, line 408, in cook (Object: nog) File C:\PROGRA~1\ZOPE\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_String.py, line 242, in parse (Object: nog) File C:\PROGRA~1\ZOPE\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_String.py, line 278, in parse_block (Object: nog) File C:\PROGRA~1\ZOPE\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_String.py, line 131, in parse_error (Object: nog) Document Template Parse Error: (see above) Did i do something wrong?, it must, since this is rather basic, isn't it? I posted it to the collector as a question, but i am not sure whether that is correct. Met vriendelijke groeten, Hans de Wit h.de.wit(a)scp.nl

ANNOUNCE: Zope 2.3.0 final released
by Brian Lloyd 29 Jan '01

29 Jan '01

Hello all, Zope 2.3.0 final has been released - you can download it from Zope.org: http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/2.3.0/ Zope 2.3 is focused on improving productivity, ease of use and performance. New features in the 2.3 release supporting these goals include: - Scripts to allow safe web management of logic, dramatically improving the ability to separate logic and presentation in site design - Cache Managers to provide a powerful caching infrastructure for dramatically improving site responsiveness while retaining dynamicism - Built-in infrastructure for complex virtual hosting of multiple sites on one server - Significantly improved Zope Management Interface for web-based authoring and administration - Other important changes, such as improvements in WebDAV support, customizable object creation, running an optional server for browsing source documents, significant improvements in cataloging and indexing, and a new quick start document with references to the most important documentation for new users Zope 2.3 also marks the first feature release where a significant amount of the work was done "in the fishbowl" using our open development process on dev.zope.org. This release owes a lot to the hard work of many in the Zope community in addition to folks here at DC. The MVPs for Zope 2.3 include: - Evan Simpson (Python scripting and SiteAccess) - Shane Hathaway (CacheManager and many other things) - Adam Davis (improvements to the Zope interface) - Chris Petrilli (ZCatalog) - Toby Dickenson (improved Python 2 support) - Chris McDonough (improved UserFolders) - John Odom (StructuredText NG) - Michel Pelletier (Interfaces and new Quickstart) - Casey Duncan (ZCatalog patches) - Tres Seaver (FTP and DAV support in ZClasses) - John Heintz (patch for ExtensionClass) - Chris Withers (patches and bug hunting) - Tom Vijlbrief (FTP rename support) - Dieter Maurer (patches and bug hunting) My apologies to anyone I've missed - thanks also to the many who participated the alpha and beta cycles and provided feedback. For more information on what is new in this release, see the CHANGES.txt and HISTORY.txt files for the release: - http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/2.3.0/CHANGES.txt - http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/2.3.0/HISTORY.txt Brian Lloyd brian(a)digicool.com Software Engineer 540.371.6909 Digital Creations http://www.digicool.com

Best way to upgrade an existing Zope installation?
by Etienne Labuschagne 29 Jan '01

29 Jan '01

Hi there Maybe this has been answered a million times, but I can't find it. What is (generally) the best way to upgrade an existing Zope installation? (Including products, etc.) Must I export/import everthing, can I just copy the data.fs file or install the new Zope right over the old one (and then recopying the data file)? Thanks Etienne Tel: (012) 348 4586 Cel: 082 442 8981 Fax: (012) 361 8355

How can a document know its own URL?
by Brendon Grunewald 29 Jan '01

29 Jan '01

Can anyone tell me how to use DTML to get at the URL for the document being displayed? I want to display the URL of the document being displayed inside of the document being displayed. Something like: <b> You are now viewing the following URL: <dtml-var Some_DTML_var> </b> Similar to the <dtml-var title_or_id> var, but for the whole URL not just the documents name or title... I've tried looking at the mailing list archives, but it is either not there or my search criteria are not as accurate as they should... --- Brendon Grunewald 70South: The no1. source for Antarcticles. Rewriting al a mod_rewrite in apache?
by andreas rippel 29 Jan '01

29 Jan '01

I'm looking for a feature like mod_rewrite-module in apache. Concret: transforming all path-components of the http-requests to lowercase. Is SiteAccess an idea, I couldn't find examples or documenation for that? OT: Zope jobs on offer in Melbourne, Australia
by Phillip Crumpler 29 Jan '01

29 Jan '01

Hi Folks, I'm not sure if this is strictly on topic here; if not perhaps someone could point me in the right direction. First up, congratulations to everyone involved in the new release - I love your work, you make mine so damn easy :) Basically I'm looking for several Zope developers in Melbourne, Australia. The project involves the development of an online publishing system allowing authors anywhere to get works published into print and digital media. Any interested parties can mail me for more info, or if anyone has any suggestions about finding Zope or even just python coders down under I'd love to hear about it. cheers, Phillip Crumpler moredogs pty ltd phillip(a)crumpler.com.au +61 (0)3 9398 8000
