default html header
by Cyril Elkaim 30 Jan '01

30 Jan '01

Hi, I've a little problem with Zope. I want to send documents but WITHOUT any HTML header like "<html><head></head>". When I create a document or method having only 'pure' text I systematically get the previous header. How can I do to have Zope sending my page without adding this default header? Thanks in advance Cyril Elkaim

LoginManager dlpierson example
by W. Robert Kellock 30 Jan '01

30 Jan '01

Hi, I'm new to Zope and I've been examining the LoginManager example given by dlpierson (http://www.zope.org/Members/dlpierson/sqlLogin) Although I am nowhere near understanding what it is doing, I'm very close to getting it to work - I think! It looks to me like I'm falling down in the PythonMethods (PythonScripts) in the Member ZClass. Are PythonScript arguments typeless? I keep getting an error Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: 'string' object has no attribute 'password' from the authenticate method which I'm passing self, password. Strangely following this error, I can hit the back button on my browser and reach the protected HTML page anyway! Here is the traceback. Your help would be appreciated. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- W.Robert Kellock Ph: +64 3 326 6115 Sales Manager Fax: +64 3 326 6115 Credit Systems Control Ltd Web: www.creditscore.co.nz "making decisions easy" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Extended characters in Zope
by Ausum 30 Jan '01

30 Jan '01

I have to deal with documents and its attributes wich have a lot of extended characters in them, like the "ñ" or the hyphened "á"..."ú" vocals in spanish. The ones who download the pages in Windows don't have any trouble. The ones who use Mac will see strange characters, as it might be expected. Updating a page or propertie from a Mac will cause the same problem for Windows users, because Zope doesn't convert the extended characters to the web-friendly format when properties are added. I'd also like to search in Zcatalog using these extended characters, ie. "Effects of El Niño", from any platform. Is there a workaround for this situation? Ausum p.d I'm sure that european Zopists have already faced this problem and probably found a solution. Unfortunately I couldn't find it at the archives.

ANN: Core Session Tracking 0.7
by Chris McDonough 30 Jan '01

30 Jan '01

A new release of the "CoreSessionTracking" product is out. The product allows you to associate state with anonymous visitors between requests. The latest version (0.7) fixes a fairly serious kid-clicking-related bug found by Randall Kern that effects RAM-based ("internal") session data containers. If you need to upgrade from 0.6, all that is required is to untar/ungzip this release on top of the 0.6 release files. Then you must restart. You can find the product at http://www.zope.org/Members/mcdonc/Products/CoreSessionTracking/index_html - C

OK, I think I've reproduced this. But I haven't fixed it. :-( As soon as I do, I'll let you know... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Randall F. I've read the docs, they are the best docs I've seen for anything Zope, but they don't mention a reason why this might happen. porting from Python Methods to PythonScripts in 2.3.0; LoginManager too
by Fred Yankowski 30 Jan '01

30 Jan '01

I just installed Zope 2.3.0 and I'm planning how to port my sites from 2.2.5. It looks like I'll have to: + Copy over the Products I installed, _except_ + Don't copy over SiteAccess and PythonMethods. + Delete the PythonMethods product from the Control_Panel/Products management folder. Will I have to manually convert each existing Python Method to a PythonScript, or are they essentially the same type? I haven't been able to test what happens yet, because all my existing Python Methods relate to LoginManager and I haven't been able to get the LoginManager product to initialize correctly in 2.3.0. I followed the first two steps above and copied over my data.fs. It comes up cleanly except for an exception while loading the LoginManager and some ZClass problems for ZClasses that depend on LoginManger. The exception is this: ------ 2001-01-29T16:57:02 ERROR(200) Zope Couldn't import Products.LoginManager Traceback (innermost last): File E:\PROGRA~1\Zope230\lib\python\OFS\Application.py, line 530, in import_products (Object: string) File E:\PROGRA~1\Zope225\lib\python\Products\LoginManager\__init__.py, line 1, in ? File E:\PROGRA~1\Zope225\lib\python\Products\LoginManager\LoginManager.py, line 121, in ? InstallError: No access file found at E:\Program Files\Zope230 - see INSTALL.txt ------ Can someone help me understand this? The two INSTALL.txt files under Zope230 offer no clues. It's odd that the exception stack shows it executing code from my older Zope225 installation. How the heck can that happen? Is that some bug in Python? There's nothing in my environment that mentions Zope225, and I dumped sys.path late in z2.py and it looks fine. I tried deleting the LoginManager product from the management interface and restarting, but the same exception occurs. I do notice that, unlike prior Zope installs, there is no 'access' file in the Zope root. Oops, I just saw another message about LoginManager not yet working in Zope 2.3. If that's so, it's a show-stopper for me. -- Fred Yankowski fred(a)OntoSys.com tel: +1.630.879.1312 Principal Consultant www.OntoSys.com fax: +1.630.879.1370 OntoSys, Inc 38W242 Deerpath Rd, Batavia, IL 60510, USA

DTML current namespace
by kosh 30 Jan '01

How do you print out the current namespace you have access to in DTML? I am trying to track down what I think is a namespace problem and I think this would help solve the problem. Thanks

Curtis Maloney writes: > I have just made a nice fresh Zope 2.3 install, and am having an odd problem > with PythonScripts. > > I add one from the management screen, enter the name, "add and edit", enter > the code, the hit "save". Which dumps me to my index_html. Looks, as if you do no longer have the permission to use any management action. Unfortunately, I can not tell you why. Dieter

More ZClass questions: How to get a complete property list?
by Ernesto Revilla 29 Jan '01

29 Jan '01

Hi there, I want to have a method which returns a list of all properties of an object. The problem: when I write a Method (DTML or Python) I always get the properties of the container of the method, but not the ones of the object I applied the method. I used propertyMap, propertyIds and propertyItems. Example: Say xxx is an instance of a ZClass and resides in the root directory. http://localhost:8080/xxx/propertyMap will return a map of all properties of the root folder not of the xxx object. Say you define a method yyy which access concrete properties of the object with dtml-var, say ''who" and "when", then it will access these properties if they exist and fail if one of these doesn't. Ok. I found it, I have to access each propertysheet, but if I try something like <dtml-in "propertysheets"> <dtml-var propertyMap> </dtml-in> the login window with username/password is presented, but whatever I type I get an authorization error, so I think there is a private properysheet, isn't it? So how can I get a list of all properties defined in an object? I'll answer the question myself, but I think it is a bit complex. The philosophy is to write nearly everything in Python???? External (unrestricted) Pyhton script (like id=getprops, module=getprops, function=getprops) : def getprops(self): x=[] for y in self.propertysheets: for z in y.propertyItems(): x.append(z) return x Now a DTML method for displaying this (e.g. as printproperties): <dtml-var standard_html_header> <h2>Properties of <dtml-var title_or_id></h2> <p> <ul> <dtml-in getprops> <li><dtml-var sequence-key>: <dtml-var sequence-item> </dtml-in> </ul> regards, Erny
