RE: [Zope] Python 2.0 ??????

My web site had been working until this morning for months without a problem. When investigating the cause of the crush I found out that my ISP just upgraded to python 2.0 without my knowledge. My site is as far as I know the only zope site there. It does not start or build. I tried to upgrade to version 2.2.5 (I was running 2.2.2) without a success. This is what i got when trying to upgrade to version 2.2.5 :

Python Script unable to response to DTML method calls
by Dirksen 18 Jan '01

18 Jan '01

I have a python script 'func' that has 'self' as the parameter. When I call it with: <dtml-var func> I got this error: not enough arguments; expected 1, got 0. That means the dtml call dosen't provide for the 'self' parameter as it would for other dtml methods or python methods(I rewrote 'func' in python method, and things work out!) I need to call python scripts that way (for I didn't write that dtml method), how can I do that or I have to write everything in python methods? Can't import anything decent on old machine.
by Darrin 18 Jan '01

Hello, This is my second post to this list. Whenever I try to import a product I usualy get the following errors. BTW. I have been using Linux for years. I am trying this on a Debian 2.2 system. Sure, I can recompile this box with woody instead of potato if necessary. It's runing on an old P166. It has lots of ram (128 megs). If the hardware is a problem then please let me know. I get the same error when trying to import several products. Did i miss something in the FAQ? Is it time for mandatory subject keys?
by Ausum 18 Jan '01

18 Jan '01

I'm just guessing around. Zope is a great tool and the Zopists are increasing in number. Preventing caos by splitting a busy list, in my experience, just doesn' work because we people don't want to stay away from the main list, don't we? Nevertheless it would become a real need to stablish a way to differenciate messages, in order to pay effective atention to the threads we are most likely to read, respond or filter. Maybe it's time for mandatory subject keys. Something like NEW: for newbies questions; OT: for off-topic (like this); DB: for database related stuff... you DC people name it. Greetings, Ausum

Postgresql Query.
by Jason C. Leach 18 Jan '01

18 Jan '01

hi, I'd like to learn a bit more on how to do a SQL query on a postgres DB from Zope. Like how to do it, what is better DTML or Python for it, and how would I do it in DTML (I can probably get python working fine). j. ...................... ..... Jason C. Leach ... Control_Panel inaccessible with VirtualHostMonster
by Itai Tavor 18 Jan '01

18 Jan '01

Hi, I posted a question a couple of days ago about not being able to access Control_Panel in the presence of a SiteRoot. That problem disappeared when I upgraded to Zope 2.3b1 (from 2.2.5). Then I replaces the SiteRoot with a VirtualHostMonster to solve another SiteRoot problem, and now the Control_Panel problem is back again. Details: Zope / VirtualHostMonster MySite/ test test (DTML Method): <dtml-var Control_Panel fmt=html-quote> Apache: <VirtualHost 10.0.1.21> ProxyPass / http://10.0.1.20:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/10.0.1.21:80/MySite/VirtualHostR… http://10.0.1.20:8080/MySite/test returns <ApplicationManager instance at 88c6918> http://10.0.1.21/test return KeyError: Control_Panel I think my head is about to valorize again. It would have to be the second one, as Zope is open source :-) Unless... is there something going on between DC and the Feds we should know about? Sorry for wasting bandwidth. Couldn't resist. How to list objects across different containers in Zope's tree?
by Ausum 18 Jan '01

18 Jan '01

Few days ago there was this same question although remained unsolved. This is the case for a news site: News objects are within section folders, within day folders, within months, and within a year folder. Just like this, at the root: http://zopesite:8080/2000/October/17/sports/newsobjectid_htm If I were at, ie, root/2001/January/thislist_htm , how can I list(and retrieve) sport news appeared from October 29th to November 10th in year 2000? Is it time to look for a database? Thanks in advance, Ausum
