I am sorry, it can seem stupid, but what do you mean by "access" rule? Re: [Zope] PIL problem

--- Luc Tonin <ltonin(a)lw.mth.tv> wrote: > well > i m still trying to insert some text in a gif image > using PIL > but what should i do??? using da PSDraw class?? > does anybody have an id ?? > thx by advance > I recently got that working for me by doing a few tricky things: created a directory in Extensions called "BDF" and put the font files (courR14.pil an courR14.pbm) in there. (make sure that dir is zope readable) then add ImageFont to your PIL init script. (kind of like the file replacement in ZPhoto does) then in your external method and the import statement for the fonts. (in mine I did "import PIL.ImageFont") and then I experimented around and got the following code to setup the font stuff: wd = os.environ['PYTHONHOME'] wd_ext = wd + '/Extensions' wd_ext_bdf = wd_ext + '/BDF' sys.path[:0] = [wd_ext] # prepend the font path sys.path[:0] = [wd_ext_bdf] font = PIL.ImageFont.load_path("courR14.pil") I put this in the global part of the external method and the rest of the methods could use fonts. (for some reason I couldn't get any other font to work. courR14 is the default in the PIL library. to change fonts you can simply save another font as the courR14 name) After that you can use fonts in your methods with: draw = PIL.ImageDraw.Draw(image) draw.text((x,y),"text to print") Hope this helps. I will *hopefully* be releasing a zope product in the near future that uses PIL fonts so you can use it as an example. Right now I'm ironing it out a little, but keep an eye out for it. I think I'm going to call it "NetMap" Jason __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Shopping - Thousands of Stores. Millions of Products. http://shopping.yahoo.com/

ZWiki hierarchy seems to be broken
by Timothy Grant 13 Dec '00

13 Dec '00

Hi, I just put up a ZWiki for some internal development projects we are running. Everything went beautifully smoothly. I created it using the hierarchy2 property. However, I seem to have done something somewhere that is preventing the hierarchy headers from showing up on many of the pages. It shows on the first page, and it still shows on all the help pages, but it has disappeared from the pages that I have been adding (They were there for a while). How do I put the hierarchy headers back? Thanks -- Stand Fast, tjg. Timothy Grant tjg(a)exceptionalminds.com Red Hat Certified Engineer www.exceptionalminds.com Avalon Technology Group, Inc. You can use <dtml-with "localfs_object['localfs_subobject']"> <dtml-var bobobase_modification_time> </dtml-with> At least the "Local File System" object does not expose its children via "getattr" (which is required for the usual "." operator to work) but only via "[...]". This probably is a bug. Dieter

New version of book uploaded
by Michel Pelletier 12 Dec '00

Greetings, Read this carefully, you may end up with a free, signed copy of the Zope book. That's right, Amos and I have just gotten done adding all kinds of new stuff to the book, and in particular we made quite a few changed from "Python Method" to "Python Script". This was a task more subtle than a simple search and replace, many changes needed to be done. Also, sometime really soon, we will be making a 2.3 alpha release. This will be the first release of Zope that will be "in sync" with the book. Lots of milestones to reach there. So, instead of reading the book over again for the N to the Nth time in preparation, we have decided to run a fun little contest. The *first* person to point out an incorrect usage of the term "method" when it should be "script" will get a free copy of the Zope book signed by Amos and myself. If you are the second person to point out the same error, sorry, you're out of luck, but *keep reading* because you may find another! For each unique "method" error found in the book, someone will get a free signed copy! And don't just stick to Chapter 8 (although that's probably the best place to start!) because Python Meth...er Scripts are used all over the book. To keep everything fair, you must report your findings to the community reviewer list at zope-book(a)zope.org. They will be the "judges", and will decide who does and who does and does not get a book. Here are some sample right and wrong sentences to give you an idea, just because a sentence contains the word "method", doesn't make it wrong: "DTML Methods are smelly." (Right) "By using DTML, Python, Perl or other kinds of methods, you can script the web." (Wrong) "Python Methods rock!" (Wrong) "You can call *fooBar* through the web like any other kind of method". (Wrong, should be "object", tricky! The judgest make the call on these kinds of errors) "The Python code in your External Method must be in the Foo module." (Right, External Methods still exist) Get the idea? The O'Reilly community reviewers (the "judges") and employees of Digital Creations are not elligible in this contest, sorry guys, you already get free books. ;) So without further a-do here's the URL. Have fun! http://www.zope.org/Members/michel/ZB/ -Michel

The products must register help during their initialization def initialize(context): .... context.registerHelp() context.registerHelpTitle('Zope Help') and they must have a "help" subfolder. Look at "Products/ZCatalog" for an example. Dieter

I would expect, you get a KeyError. Right? <dtml-with new_folder_ID> tries to access the object with the name "new_folderID". But the new folder was created with a name "REQUEST['new_folderID']". Why? I guess: <dtml-call "_[userid].propertysheets[1].manage_changeProperties(REQUEST)"> <dtml-in "objectValues(['zclassuser'])"> <dtml-var reindex_object></dtml-in> will work, too. In the case, that does not work, you call "reindex_object" for the object for which the DTML code was called (probably a folder). This is not the same as the object changed "_[userid]". Otherwise, you would have been able to omit this "_[userid]". In the working case, you call "reindex_object" for each of your class instances. This includes obviously the one that has been changed. Maybe Python 1.6 and Zope 2.2.2 do not fit well together. Dieter
