Human validation in zope/python

Hey All I'm wondering if anyone has a module that will generate the randomized images that are so common these days in registration forms to verify that the user is a human. Or, alternativly, other strategies to block spamming of registration forms by bots or other automated methods. Thanks! Ed

When I simply change what zope install I run my instance with (2.7 -> 2.8), TextIndexNG2 indexes go from reporting xyz distinct values to 'n/a' distinct values. Great sirs/madames of Zope, I am attempting to use TextIndexNG on Zope2.8 (No Plone, No CMF). TextIndexNG2 has suddenly stopped working (it was fine on 2.7), and indexes will display 'n/a' rather than a count. Saving a Rendered DTML Document

Hello. I have a DTML document which contains some DTML, but mostly HTML. I want to save the HTML contents of this DTML document once it is rendered by Zope (i.e. once the DTML is evaluated) in another DTML document (i.e. this document will only contain HTML offcourse and must be since it will be used by a PHP script). Is there a way to do this so every time the former changes, the latter is updated as well? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. - Asad

Newbe: Can't import to external script

Ok, I'm new and I know this should be easy. I don't find it documented anywhere, and I've been digging through the list archives without success. I have and external python script in the Extensions directory. I call it, it works. How do a call a method (module) with an absolute path name in the filesystem from this module? I want to import my own module. Running the script from the command line honors #INCDIR to add to the path, of course, but in my zope installation, even placing the module in the Extensions directory won't accomplish the deed. Python can't find it. What am I missing here? Versioning seems to LockOut the site.

Attempting to use the Version to stop from stepping on each others' code results in a LockOut error that seems to propagate to any object the code in the version touches. For example, if the versioned object uses <dtml-var standard_html_header>, then standard_html_header gets locked and the site becomes inaccessible. What am I doing wrong? 120MB file import failures

Hello, I apologize if this is a FAQ, I could not find the answer. I would like to put a 120MB file into ZODB and it is constantly failing. TTW insert file fails but works on smaller fails. WebDAV fails but works on smaller files. Plus FTP fails having activate it as a last resort. My environment is FreeBSD 6 with current Zope, Python 2.3.x and a /tmp directory of 256MB... I noticed once that this could cause this failure. Any suggestions? I do have the file on the OS's filesystem but I see that the object "import" only applies to ZODB-ready files. Appreciated, Michael

Hooks for methods other than GET/POST on port 80?

Hi! I am looking for a way in Zope to receive HTTP-requests with, eg, DELETE and PUT in the object method. Zope (2.7.x) seems to intercept these and issue "Not authorised". (I check REQUEST.REQUEST_METHOD to decide what to do in the object's method. POST and GET are fine, but others are blocked in Zope.) I do not want to do it "the right way" and create special kind of ZServer (like for WebDAV), I just want Zope to let me decide what to do if certain method is requested from a certain method of an object. An example. I want object X to receive a message Y with request method DELETE. This is the raw thing the server need to receive: DELETE /path/to/object/X/Y HTTP/1.1 Host: myhost.myorg.org Content-Type: application/myprotocol+xml Of course, I have a product Z which has this class: class Z: ... def Y(self, REQUEST): if REQUEST.REQUEST_METHOD == 'POST': # no problem elif REQUEST.REQUEST_METHOD == 'DELETE': # this is never reached...
