Wrap or not wrap i Zope source

[ I posted this query to the zope-dev mailing list at the begining of this week, but with no response. Maybe my friends at the zope mailing list can help me before I crash my Zope installation. ] What I want to do is simple. But doing it can be tough. Modify the source of Zope so that one can select either wrap=off or wrap=virtual in the textarea box of the documentEdit.dtml I bet you all recognize these HTML bits (documentEdit.dtml): <INPUT NAME=SUBMIT TYPE="SUBMIT" VALUE="Taller"> <INPUT NAME=SUBMIT TYPE="SUBMIT" VALUE="Shorter"> <INPUT NAME=SUBMIT TYPE="SUBMIT" VALUE="Wider"> <INPUT NAME=SUBMIT TYPE="SUBMIT" VALUE="Narrower"> And I want to add: <INPUT NAME=SUBMIT TYPE="SUBMIT" VALUE="Change Wrap">  This submitbutton should trigger the simple following DTML (documentEdit.dtml): <dtml-if wrap_or_not> WRAP="virtual" <dtml-else> WRAP="Off" </dtml-if> I have checked the python source, but I'm definitly not a wiz or very good with OOP. Problems with LDAPmodule on sunos5

I have created Zope site on Linux wich uses external methods to access LDAP. I transferred my site to Solaris8/sunos5 but i can't manage to get LDAPmodule working on sunos. Finally after two days of work and with pretty slick manouvers, i managed to build LDAPmodule (archive.csee.uq.edu.au/~leonard/dc-prj/ldapmodule/) on sunos, but there something wrong in the module. On linux there no problems and building is easy as taking candy from children. I did excatly the same on Sunos but module just won't work. with simple python script, i get following error: File "test_ldap_lib.py", line 1, in ? import sys,ldap,pprint ImportError: ld.so.1: python: fatal: relocation error: file ./ldapmodule.so: symbol ber_init: reference d symbol not found and from Zope: Error Type: ImportError Error Value: ld.so.1: /usr/local/Zope-2.2.0/bin/python: fatal: relocation error: file /usr/local/Zope-2.2.0/lib/python1.5/ldapmodule.so: symbol ber_init: referenced symbol not found has anobody managed to build LDAPmodule on sunos5? or can anoby give me some advice, what went wrong? jarkkov

SiteAccess-Apache: passing HOST header

Does anybody know how to convince Apache to pass the information from the HTTP HOST header down to ZServer. This would be very useful for SiteAccess Access Rules. Dieter

ZClass

Hi Zopists, I have created a ZClass (TestClass) with an external python function 'foo'. Now I would like to create an instance (myTest) of my TestClass in a dtml template and call its method foo. When I put the code below <dtml-let myTest="_['Control_Panel']['Products']['TestProduct']['TestClass']"> <dtml-var "myTest.foo()"> </dtml-let> I can see this error: Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: __call__ When I looked at the returned type of myTest.foo, the Zope says that it is an instance of Folder. Can anybody help me how to call create instances of ZClasses programatically only in the name-space (not in ZODB) and call their functions? In-tag Batch processing

Perhaps a stupid question, But how can you provide a link to the next batch of items at the start of the batch table? or : assume you have a result from a query, which is shown in batches of 5 items and you want to be able to allow the users to choose a page. How can you show these possible selections, before you show a batch? I tried several things, but I can only show it a the end of a batch but not at the beginning of a batch Thanks, Tom

zope2.2.0 and what is high load

oo zopistas i have a question. being a small time site maintainer, i don't quite know how to classify the situation i'm having now. the site is front ended with apache, with mod_pcgi2. zope 2.2.0 (running with -t 25) and rh 6.2 how can i know that the load i'm having is a big load? i've been getting more than 200 simultaneos connections(ps ax|grep http|wc -l) and that affect the response time. if the connection is less than 150, then zope's response time is great. my Q: what do you BIG SITE admin have? do you encounter slow down? i need some sort of verification that more than 200 simultaneous connect is really a big load. i hope not to have to resort to other costly and proprietery solutions just because of my ignorance. i know table design does affect loading time, and that will be tackled. cache is an option that i've looked at but have to disregard for now since i can't get ie to behave. i know of the how to and will be looking at it. i've scaled the site (was once more than 400 connections at one time) with ZEO to two servers. i now hope to have insights from yu BIG SITE admins looking forward to your input, help, and pointers. i'll try and document every thing and put a howto. thanks

application/octet-stream vs. application/msword

Hi Zopers How does Zope recognize the type of a file? Mostly it recognizes .doc's correctly as 'application/msword', but sometimes they turn up as 'application/octet-stream'. Others, like .fh8 (Freehand) and .exe (self-extracting zip) are (unsurprisingly) also turning up as 'application/octet-stream'. The files are being added using <input type=hidden name=":method" value="manage_addProduct/OFSP/fileAdd"> Can Zope be taught more types? Failing that, I guess I should try to catch the extension using "find(S, SUB[, START])" on the id (which is the filename). -- jean
