NTUserFolder still useful?

I'm running Zope on WindowsXP with plans to run it on server 2003. Instead of creating user accounts I'd like to leverage NT authentication.. And NTUserFolder looks like it might be what I want, except that it looks like a dead product. Besides a note that it works on Win2k under certain constraints, I'm not sure if I should try using it. Just a report & workaround fyi for anyone running into the same problem: I created a db consisting of a single, fairly small table (4 fields of short strings & a few floats) and imported a large amount of data into it (over a million records). Added a few indexes. The db size is about 440MB. Upon trying to access the data, my sql methods puked - got some memory errors sometimes, sometimes there was something wrong with a "query" variable or something. I did not dig deep on those. Alas, upgrade to Zope 2.7.8 seems to have solved the problem. And there was much joy. Cheers, Petri

zope.conf read-only settings

AFAICS the directives zserver-read-only-mode and read-only-database just set the environment value ZOPE_READ_ONLY and no change in ZOPE's operation results. Am I right? This is ZOPE 2.7.7 Setting read-only in the database storage does make a difference (in my configuration, Formulator 1.6.2 throws an exception, but that's not a ZOPE issue). Steven

Hello. On starting and stopping Zope 2.8.2 (upgraded from 2.8.1, compiled with Python 2.4.2, running on Fedora Core 3) I get the following error. Performance does not seem to be affected. REQUEST not accessible

hi all! i have several products using PageTemplateFiles a lot. up to some time in them i could just write: tal:define="results python:here.Catalog.searchResults()" it seems this isn't working anymore, the catalog would return all brains instead of seraching the relevant ones... POSKeyError nightmare

Hi all, Rather large message with tracebacks and all -- any help is greatly appreciated... I have tried to rid a large Zope DB of a POSKeyError to no avail. I have tried the method that traverses the folder which contains the offending object using try/except to catch the POSKeyError, but even those continually throw the error. Packaging a zope application

Hello All, I have a zope application which operates on data in an external relational database (Firebird), as well as containing lots of folders, dtml docs, scripts, zsql methods etc within the zope db I would like to get suggestions on the best way to package the whole application so that it is easy to set up from scratch. Currently there is a three step process: 1. install correct version of zope 2. unzip a zip file which I maintain that contains all the added libraries, products, .zexp file, and external methods into their correct paths in the zope root folder on the filesystem, then restart zope 3. Log into zope as admin and import the .zexp file into the zope root folder in the zope db Any suggestions of easier / better ways to do this would be much appreciated. Regards, Josh

Confusing DateTime().strftime behavior

I'm upgrading our server from a FoxPro backend to PostgreSQL, using the Psycopg connector. My problem is that the old database returned timestamps as a "%m/%d/%Y"-formatted string, while Psycopg returns a DateTime object (I'm using the internal module, not mxDateTime). Whenever I use strftime to format the object for display, I get the previous day's date instead. I've found several references to this problem in Google, but no one seems to have found a good solution. Any thoughts? -- Kirk Strauser The Day Companies
