Calculate difference between time input?

How do I calculate the difference between two times I get from a from? Lets say time a = 09:45 and time b = 11:15 Then I want to calculate the difference. How do I calculate it? I'd also like to know how to get the answers in differen formats. For example caculating the input above I want to be able to get all of the following results: 1:30 (One hour and thirty minutes) 1,5 (One and a half hour) 90 (Ninety minutes) Help please :)

Problem with database packing (major data loss)

We have discovered a rather nasty problem. On Zope 2.1.6 if you you pack the database with '0' in the days box and then pack it again with '1' in the days box bad things happen. In our case the first pack resulted in a Data.fs of 17MBytes (not bad from a started point of nearly 2GBytes) the second pack (which I assumed would do nothing) resulted in a Data.fs of 3MBytes. Great I thought, however it also broke most of my site. Some of the symptoms are: Accessing existing folders gives KeyError Many of my ZClasses are turned into DTML Methods (that is the icon next to them in the folder view is a DTML Method icon) All the instances of the broken classes are broken. Thankfully I kept backups before performing the packs. This is repeatable on both the servers I run. I am now nervous of packing but have no choice. Richard PS. I still think Zope is great! I am just learning slowing how to run it defensively

zsql question (cannot render query template)

Hi, I have a simple SQL method which just does a select on all rows, ie. "select * from users", which works. for security reasons I want to embed the sql statement in another dtml if- clause, like that: <dtml-if checkperm> select * from users </dtml-if> (checkperm is a DTML method which returns either 0 or 1) when I try to test the SQL method I get the following error: Error, exceptions.NameError: REQUEST SQL used: Could not render the query template! what am I doing wrong? thanks -Oliver

delete objet via a form

Hi Zopper, The Use case ========== 1/ Display file objets from a folder 2/ Select objets to delete 3/ Delete these objets 4/ Refresh the document My solution is based on 2 DTML methods but it does not work for me. The documents are not deleted and no refresh of the page. Help is welcome. FR. FYI - poss. reindex_object alleged 'bug' workaround

Zopers and PyCoders- I was having a problem with ZCatalog-- namely, editing the properties of a CatalogAware item (in a custom form) after creation resulted in no change to the indexed value in the Catalog. I know about reindex_object and was using that-- so it wasn't just that I was leaving it out! Hmmm. I read the Zope(a)zope.org list archives on zope.nipltd.com (what a great resource, thanks!!!) and found some mentions that this was broken in 2.1.6, which is what I am using. ANYWAY, I found that <dtml-call "_.this.reindex_object()"> solved the problem immediately (well, for me, anyway). Just thought I would pass this on so it would be archived for others with this problem (or at least something to try in a moment of desperation!). Why does this work? I have some guesses about some of the PyCode in CatalogAwarenesss.py but I'm still too much of a Python newbie to make any comments..... Jeff Sasmor jeff(a)janix.com

FSSession buglette

Hi All, I had some real problems with FSSession tonight. The first problem was when the FSSession tried to load, it would get an error along the lines of failed to import Acquisition. Next step was when the user session tried to rename and the file wasn't there. This threw in error in a Zope commit transaction, and rendered the site useless until a restart was performed (this was correct action by Zope, i.e. all commits are blocked to avoid the database becoming more screwed after a commit fails). First thing I did was put a try around the dump to stop it from throwing an error if the file doesn't exist. This is certainly a preferred option for us, as it does not affect the function of the FSSession at all (Except that one session is obviously now duff). Second thing in tracking down the culprit, I finally figured out that what I was doing was quite naughty. Basically creating an option for the user to return to the site and have his/her name already entered into the login screen. The mistake was putting AUTHENTICATED_USER into FSSession, it basically tried to store the object, when all I wanted was the string username! Oops! Regards Gresh
