LONG insert > 2000 chars fail

Hi, Looks like DCOracle/Zoracle still doesn't support LONG objects properly. According to Oracle's overly verbose "SERVER MESSAGES" manual the following means that oracle will accept only upto 2000 chars as quoted string, anything more should be uploaded via binded variables... keyword index and netscape vs ie

Hi all. I am using a keyword index as per the excellent howto. I use the following snippet to list the keywords as a series of links to further searches. (this is the objects index_html) related topics: <dtml-in keywords> <a href="search?key=<dtml-var sequence-item>"><dtml-var sequence-item></a><br> </dtml-in> This works fantastic if you are using IE or a keyword is just one word. Netscape does not seem to do anything intelligent if it is a key phrase instead and returns an error. Below are examples of the resolved urls it is trying to load IE .../search?key=direct%20access Netscape .../search?key=direct access Explorer pads out with the %20 - netscape does not - in fact netscape only works if a + appears instead. Netscape and Explorer add the + if a form field is used instead (similar to that at the top of the zope site etc) So my question to the gurus is is there an attribute or expression I can use to get round this? How can I specify that the two (or more) words in a keyword phrase are separated by pluses when the link is generated? yours in hope Jonathan

wierdness with 2.2, Security, and manage_addProduct[' ']..

Ok, this is driving me slightly nutso. Why won't this work in Zope 2.2? Make a DTML method containing: <dtml-with "manage_addProduct['ZCatalog']"> <dtml-call "manage_addVocabulary(id='doofus')"> </dtml-with> I cannot find a way to make the security system let this through. method is owned and executed by a user who is a manager, no wierd permissions, nothing. I get a permission failure trying to look up and access the 'manage_addVocabulary' method. The example of ZCatalog.Vocabulary is simply chosen because it is a standard product that is a) a python product, b) using the "new-style" __init__ method (as opposed to the ancient one). The actual product I'm seeing the problem on is a bit more complex, but Vocab will do. It's been driving me insane for most of this evening - I'm positive you _used_ to be able to do stuff like this, and it works when the product is a ZClass-based one... questions on creating a ZClass

I'm currently trying to create a ZClass (based on ObjectManager) from a Folder I've got. This folder contains a ZCatalog named Catalog. If I copy and paste all existing methods and objects into my ZClass, do what must be done (adapt the addForm and add method, define a propertysheet, set the Views, etc...), and create an instance of my new ZClass somewhere it works but I can't view my instance: if I choose View I've got an Unauthorized error about Catalog. If I create the same ZClass without including the Catalog, then instanciate the ZClass, then add the Catalog manually to the instance, then it works fine ! Please could someone explain me ? thanks in advance. Ownership of ZClass methods in Zope2.2?

I have a problem in Zope2.2 - I've upgraded from a previous version, and there's a bunch of methods that used to work which now fail with access control issues (even when run as manager). My current theory is that it's because the DTML methods of the ZClass (or it's constructor method, which is trying to do some other funky stuff) is unowned. Hooowever, the DTML methods don't have an 'owner' type tab - should they? Worse yet, going to ...method/manage_owner, and clicking the 'Take Ownership' button brings up the Zope 'Help' window on Ownership. (this is netscape 4.7 on linux) Help? Am I on a total wild goose chase here? Anthony

AOLServer was called something else before AOL bought it. It's basically an httpd with tcl sitting on top of a nice API to such an extent that pretty much anything you'd want to do with a web server can be scripted in tcl. The neat thing is that it's been doing what mod_[your favourite language]+apache does since 1994. Philip Greenspun of 'P&A's Guide to Web Publishing' fame swear's by it. The question is - what were they doing in the benchmark? Zope, out of the box, is doing things like transactioning, authenication/authorization, acquisition for each hit, while AOLserver will only have that level of functionality if it's coupled with the ArsDigita Community System, and a suitable RDBMS (Oracle or maybe postgresql). We're almost certainly talking about an apples and oranges comparison, but I'd be interested in a look if someone has the URL.
