AOLServer was called something else before AOL bought it. It's basically an httpd with tcl sitting on top of a nice API to such an extent that pretty much anything you'd want to do with a web server can be scripted in tcl. The neat thing is that it's been doing what mod_[your favourite language]+apache does since 1994. Philip Greenspun of 'P&A's Guide to Web Publishing' fame swear's by it. The question is - what were they doing in the benchmark? Zope, out of the box, is doing things like transactioning, authenication/authorization, acquisition for each hit, while AOLserver will only have that level of functionality if it's coupled with the ArsDigita Community System, and a suitable RDBMS (Oracle or maybe postgresql). We're almost certainly talking about an apples and oranges comparison, but I'd be interested in a look if someone has the URL. Substract Date

Hi, I'm a newbi in Zope had a problem. I want substract a date from an other and set the result of this to "DAYOFYEAR". For instance: '2000-05-10' - '2000-05-08' = 2 ^^^ ^^^ ^ Date1 Date2 result DAYOFYEAR Have everyone a solution for this problem?? Many Thanks Frank

How do I specify a list element?

I have a list (I think) created this way: (date = '31-DEC-1999') <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('MyList', _.string.split(date, '-'))"> so now REQUEST['MyList'] should contain 3 elements: 31 DEC 1999 How, in dtml, do I say "give me the value of the 1st element of MyList" or the second or third. I've tried <dtml-var "REQUEST['MyList'][0]"> but I get this error: Error Type: TypeError Error Value: argument 1: expected read-only character buffer, Missing found Now I don't know which part this error is refering to, but anyhow I want this functionality. I'm downloaded the <dtml-calendar> with the tar.qz. My unzip asks me what to change the qz to before it will unzip, and i dont know what to change it to. i tried .doc, .zexp, and left it blank. if u know what it is, tell me. Hm - the goal I had for Hotfixes was to address imperative problems that couldn't really be addressed any other way. Sql result searchs with Z Catalog

I need to somehow populate an ZCatalog index with the results of a Z SQL Method. If you are familiar with ColdFusion, it needs to have the same functionality as a Verity search on a collection (custom indexed from a query). Web site newbie

I'm very excited about learning Python and Zope. I'm a win98 user and just today upgraded my service with my ISP to host my web page from home. So I need a web server. According to the docs, Zope comes with one. If I use that one, am I going to be over my head initially? Should I be using a different product if my site is not going to be super dynamic from the beginning? If I use Personal Web Server, can Zope be integrated later? Can I use Web authoring software such as Front Page 2000 and publish to Zserver? thanks so much, -mjm

File referencing and LocalFS

I am using LocalFS to refer to a directory structure like this: folder1 | folder11 There are image (.jpg) files in both folders. I have two questions about this: 1)Folders names are directly related to string fields in a MySQL database which use spaces between words (eg New York), but folders names don't use spaces (eg NewYork). How can I skip spaces from database fields to make them refer to these folders (eg New York --> NewYork)? 2)Using LocalFS, can I do something like <dtml- var "localfsObject['<dtml-var par1>'].['<dtml-var par11>'], where par1 and par11 are folder names (after skiping spaces)?
