International characters / search / objects / viewing ..

Kindest! Have anyone seen problems with international characters in ZClasses / searches? The problem only arise after the object is inserted into the object database.. and when viewed after the search.. when it is inserted into the object database all seems ok and looks just fine on the screen. "'Heisann .. dette er kun en liten test annonse for \345 vise at kontakt annonse biten omsider fungerer. Den er ikke optimal og det er en del punkter som b\370r gj\370res" .. the codes above are for norwegian characters.. and I was wondering how I fix this problem? Could this have something to say with "-L" option for starting Zope? .. or is this simply the object database cannot cope with characters other than the "normal english" alhpabet? Any input? two stupid, non-technical questions.

Please excuse these questions, they are not my average question fodder... A) Are there Zope t-shirts available, or downloadable artwork to make your own Zope t-shirts? - this question was actually posed by a co-worker who seems to get his entire wardrobe from copyleft and software companies promoting their products... would a copyleft shirt be appropo? B) Has anyone modified their apache installation (if using the apache pass through to Zope) to return the server as being a Zope server? I ask because if we do not do this, then we (the Zope community) will only appear in the netcraft server surveys when using the stand-alone ZServer...

too many open files

Help! Zope 2.1.6 refuses to work in the middle of an external method on my i386 running under OpenBSD 2.7. Is says: ---------------------------------------------------- OSError [Errno 24] Too many open files: '/var/tmp/(a)6067.265' ---------------------------------------------------- I've never ever seen this problem before and this external method used to work well until some minutes ago. Now the error keeps reappearing even after rebooting and also other external methods that used to run well now deliver the same message. Does anybody have suggestions how to diagnose/cure this problem? --Ragnar

Reportlab and Zope

CorruptTransactionError (Bad news for production site!)

Today I had to role back two days of transactions from my production site because when I packed the database I was informed of a CorruptTransactionError. We are using Zope for an internal knowledge management application where anyone in the organization can add objects. So I have no way of know what was added after the fateful transaction and no way of getting any of it back. Bummer! I think this raises a few questions about ZDB: 1) We need some tools for selectively removing bad transactions rather than just truncating Data.fs back to the last good one and loosing everything that comes after it. 2) We could do with a tools that can verify the ZODB offline. This could then be run at regular intervals (maybe once an hour from cron) so that corruptions can be picked up earlier. 3) Some way to find out what was added after a corrupt transaction is needed so that at least I could see who I need to ask to re-add their stuff. I love Zope I think it the best web application framework I have use (and I have used many), but this incident has shaken my confidence in the ZODB. I can live with the occasional error and I don't object to having to do some work to recover things. But, this appears to be an error from which I can not recover my data even though I have backups. Richard PS. Is there anyone offering commercial support for Zope in the UK. The more I am relying on Zope the more I think I need someone to provide guaranteed backup.

How to present a download button...

Hi, I am having trouble with a non standard download method. I want to provide a download link to a file, but not the standard one, because I would get the id as the filename. The id is a random value and thus not suitable for the customer. The real filename is saved in the title property. So I created a dtml method "download" like this one: <dtml-call "RESPONSE.setHeader('Content-Type', content_type)"> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.setHeader('Content-Disposition', 'inline;filename='+title)"> <dtml-var please_give_me_the_raw_data> And the link is: HREF="/some/where/my_file/download" Everything works fine with the filename. But how do I spill out the raw data to the browser? Any ideas ? Thanks for your help... - Andreas

How do I call a parameter from inside of the same form?
