There are two things that may have gone wrong here: - You testing program isn't concurrent, even though you think it is. - I don't know much about the MySQL db, but maybe your approach of accessing it causes requests to be serialized, thus your whole app to be serialized. You should probably test your client with a part of Zope that doesn't access the MySQL database first, to make sure that the problem doesn't lie with your client. You could also get 'ab' the Apache Benchmark program that comes with Apache to do your testing for you, as it is known to work. Accessing MySQL direct from your External Methods introduces a variable I cannot comment upon. Apart from that, using the MySQLDA would at least give you the advantage of being able to use the SQL Methods' caching mechanism. I understand that the CodeCatalog.com site gets much of it's speed because it leans heavily on this feature. Ok, since I haven't found this by searching the site or the mailing list archive, is it possible to logout as superuser? I would like to be able to login as a different user, but I haven't been able to find out how to do this. Thanks, James

Multithreading in zope and python

I am using Zope-2.1.6. I have python 1.5.2 with multithreading on. But my zope still runs in single thread. I have changed the start script, to have PYTHONHOME="/usr:$reldir" and taken out the -D flag. Any suggestions on how to turn on multithreading will be appreciated. Thank you, -- sudhir

I have experimented some more and I think I have isolated the problem by importing the module into python and playing with the code that uses it (eg db.py and DA.py). Firstly I found that I had to change some of the environment variables in the Makefile.pre.in to point to where Makdrake 7 stores python (ie /usr rather than /usr/local). Then I made sure that SYBASE and LD_LIBRARY_PATH were set in my shell before compiling the code. Next I imported sy_occ into python and started playing it (I made sure SYBASE and LD_LIBRARY_PATH were set correctly by inspecting os.environ). I found that in db.py there is a line of code "_context=sy_occ.cs_ctx_alloc()" which when called causes a segmentation fault and a core dump. When this line is commented out Zope can start successfully and thinks that the SybaseDA is correctly installed but obviously it doesn't actually work. I am using Jeff Rush's rpm version of Zope and have set SYBASE and LD_LIBRARY_PATH through .bashrc in user zope's home directory. Does this sound like the right way to do it? Can anybody help me. generic user folder 1.2.4

Hello guys: today I have installed Generic user folder 1.2.4 Zope version 2.1.6 redhat 6.1 on apache with zope.cgi I have untared the tgz into the top level in /home/Zope I have restarted the zope several times. When I go to Zope management and "add new item" + "Generic user folder" I get to the "add a generic user folder" html page. I leave all the settings at defualt wich includes the "cookie based" authentication radio button selected. -------------------- I click add. Error type:KeyError Error Value:Parent_url ---------------------------- I try this in different folder levels in zope to make sure it isnt a path issue. I downloaded 1.2.2 and same thing. My thought was that this should be relatively easy to implement with the Zope.org site. A small form at the bottom of each page, URL0 indexed in a SQL table, and when a page is accessed, commentary is returned ordered by submission date. Referencing sql field in a direct traversal

I have set up a direct traversal sqlMethod which has as a DTML method The zsql method, sqlModel, is: select * from AP_MDL where <dtml-sqltest ap_mdl_no type=string> The direct traversal url is: http://e9999.rt.cs.boeing.com:8080/DB/sqlModel/777/asMeta The first DTML method I wrote, asMeta, operated correctly with the following code: <meta name="ap_mdl_no" content="<dtml-var ap_mdl_no>"> <meta name="ap_mdl_cd" content="<dtml-var ap_mdl_cd>"> <meta name="bus_no" content="<dtml-var bus_no>"> <meta name="ap_mdl_prod_ind" content="<dtml-var ap_mdl_prod_ind>"> Now I want to generalized the DTML method to work with any query. dtmll-in variables

is there an easy way to get a record count of total number of items or iterations returned by a dtml-in tag? I want to say if more than 26 records are returned then don't do this. i.e. <dtml-in firetruck> <dtml-if recordcount > 26> do this <dtml-else> do this </dtml-if> </dtml-in> thanks for your time josh on
