Confera and strict permissions

I'm trying to set up a small site with a Confera topic (using Zope 2.1.6). It is going to be accessed by some off-site co-workers through the internet, so I am concerned about security. Access is through Apache on the firewall with some mod_rewrite address filters, but I'm kind of a belt-and-braces guy when it comes to security, so I only want people who have user entries and passwords to access the discussion. No anonymous access at all. But, if I remove the default "Anonymous" access privileges granted in the root folder, even users with user entries who can access other documents get access denied when trying to view the Confera topic. This happens for both remote and local access. The error traceback seems to point to a problem with the tree tag rendering components. Any ideas? -- cary (Currently kind of frustrated with Zope. Everything seems hard.)

Dear All: OS: RH Linux 6.1 Zope: 2.1.6 Python: 1.5.2 Extra Products: ZOracleDA, FSSession, Document Template I just encountered a series of errors throwned out from my production Zope with type TransactionError. The coresponding error value says: """ A serious error, which was probably a system error, occurred in a previous database transaction. This application may be in an invalid state and must be restarted before database updates can be allowed. Beware though that if the error was due to a serious system problem, such as a disk full condition, then the application may not come up until you deal with the system problem. See your application log for information on the error that lead to this problem. Do you have packed the database of Zope ? Do you have create a new object ? newbie: zope not finding python libs

I've had a series of problems getting products to install correctly and importing some test external methods to go; each of these seems to be related to zope finding the right python libraries at the right time. Looking through the misc docs I find comments about PYTHONPATH but nothing that indicates whether this might be the issue, or if this is another common install/admin issue I'm overlooking. Is there a runtime config or compile thing I need to do to make sure zope has the right path(s) and finds everything? Do I need to install duplicate libraries into the zope/lib/python dir (I hope not :)? I also saw somewhere (one of the mysql products?) that installing necessary libraries from source was better than rpms (I'm running rhlinux6.0, Zope 2.1.6, python 1.5.2-2) but don't recall finding any specific strategy for good share dirs Zope will find. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If there's a how-to or the like I missed, I'm sorry but this is hard to find. And I'm a librarian so I'm usually good at finding things. :) Happy to provide product/library specifics if necessary, too. Thanks, -Dan

Greetings, I wish to use use the data of the database file in my html code. For example, this database was last updated on 06/06/2000. I suppose that there must be a dynamic html tag that zope uses. What could it be? I looked at all the documentation and have yet to discover it. <DTML-ZOPE-FILE-DATE> Any help is apprechiated.

hello, ok, here is my code: <dtml-in table-1 sort=date> <a href="<dtml-var URL>"><dtml-var name></a> | <dtml-var value> | <dtml-var URL> | <dtml-var attendee> | <dtml-var date><br> </dtml-in> what's wrong - nothing, it works fine. however, the result is sorted by date ascending and i need it to be reversed. i found a reference to an attribute "sort_order" which can be given an arg such as "sort_order=reverse". the problem here is that it won't work and i can't find any usage info on "sort_order". it isn't mentioned in the DTML Reference and after hours of searching the Zope website i am empty handed. does anyone know how to use this? thanks in advance. -<mike>-

Importing ACL Users

I am new to the Zope world, but very impressed, I am working on a new website in which I have a few hundred users with different user names and passwords, is there a way to import from some type of excel or star office spreadsheet the users and passwords, or do I have to enter them all by hand? detail record editing

I'm just beginning my journey into Zopeland so please forgive my ignorance. I'd like to be able to give users a chance to edit records found in a table by selecting the desired record's checkbox and then clicking 'Modify'. This is similar to the Zope management screen. I just don't know how to approach it. I can get Zope to generate a table and form like this from an SQL database. I'm stuck after that. The form only has one 'action' so how would I get it to handle the right function depending on the button that was pushed? I'm no HTML expert but I've looked around quite a bit for an answer and I can't seem to find any info on handling multiple submit buttons. Can Zope make this any easier? (using ZClasses, maybe?) I've also tried searching through the mail archives but I haven't found anything yet.
