ZOracleDA binary for NT?
by Satheesh Babu 06 Jun '00

Hi folks, I've been trying to access a Oracle DB with ODBC driver from NT4 running Zope 2.1.6. Lot of problems and now I'm stumped in that this driver does not seem to support LONG data types. ZOracleDA on Linux works beautifully, but I'm required to build the site on NT (sigh). So, any one out there has a precompiled ZOracleDA for NT, which he/she doesn't mind sharing with me? Or, any hints on using LONG datatypes with ZODBC driver? Thanks in advance. ~ V.Satheesh Babu sbabu(a)tnc.org(Xt: 5348) . . http://vsbabu.csoft.net /V\ - Duct tape is like the force. Hey all, How can I get the current date & time (preferably as a DateTime.DateTime object) in DTML? I cannot instantiate a DateTime object, because the DateTime module is not imported. Thanks, Ivan Raikov

JScript help.
by Stuart Foster 06 Jun '00

06 Jun '00

I have a DTML document that is keeps track of issues for a project. I am using JScript to automatically input a date value when the users checks a box. However if there is a date already in the field I do not want the script to change it. Below is the onchage event for the check box. I think the comparison is failing. f is the form datefixed is a text entry box. If I try f.datefixed.value != '' it works, however this is the opposite of what I want. Any clues how I can do this. Thanks <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript"> function updateDateFixed(f) { if (f.datefixed.string == '') { today = new Date() f.datefixed.value = (today.getMonth()+1)+'/'+today.getDate() +'/'+today.getYear() } } </SCRIPT>

[ANN] Zope at Linuxtag 2000 in Stuttgart
by Stephan Richter 06 Jun '00

06 Jun '00

Hello everyone, A couple of days back Martijn Faassen and I had the idea to organize a European Zope conference. Maik Roeder reminded me of the upcoming Linuxtag 2000 in Stuttgart. So I contacted the Linuxtag staff and we will have a booth. Martin Schulze, my main contact, will also try to get a Zope Conference setup for us, which would give us 2 rooms for one day fitting 50 people per room, where we can have talks and discussions. The Linuxtag will be from June 29th (Thursday) to July 2nd (Sunday). It will be in the Exhibition Center (Messegelaende) in Stuttgart, Germany. I know we have little time to organize the conference (26 days). We have one day to fill with speeches and discussions, so please let me know if there are people willing to give some talks or want to have "Special Interest Group" discussions, like E-commerce, XML or Portals in Zope. I would also like to know, who would be able to come, so I can give the Linuxtag staff some feedback. Here are some subjects I thought we could have: The ZDP Portal (Maik Roeder, ....), XML in Zope (I know Martijn F. did a lot of work there. ;-), An Introduction to Zope for newbies (Stephan Richter -- me), ZClasses, Python Products for Zope and so on. I also would like to hear some talks and discussions about Python products that Zope uses, such as PyGres, PIL, mxDateTime and other modules. I would be very glad, if some Python-only people would show some interest too. :-) The speeches and discussion can be held in German and English (preferred, since we expect people from other countries). So, everyone who is interested in preparing a talk or discussion, please send me an E-Mail and I will compile it to a schedule. The rooms will be open for us between 9:00 am - 8:00 pm on Thursday the 29th. Let's make this a successful event! J, Big thanks! I like it! Rubs hands together with glee.... (cc'd list so other newbies can get the importance of this URL). ----- Original Message ----- From: "J. The ZPublisher :method type (was RE: [Zope] detail record editing ) )
by Jeffrey Shell 06 Jun '00

Therefore each button gets a value > and a name, eg. > <input type=submit name=action value=delete> > <input type=submit name=action value=modify> Actually, you can use the Bobo ":method" type. It's documented...somewhere :). You can do: <input type="submit" name="mthDelete:method" value="delete"> <input type="submit" name="mthModify:method" value="modify"> and the Publisher will add the selected method to the end of the path. Make your form action be &dtml-URL1; or "./" There's a default_method type too, I think you *might* see it in action on the "Rename" form in the Zope management screens.

You're doing it the difficult way - just use -lclntsh for the link line. If you download the recent update to DCOracle, you should find it builds out of the box.
