Exceptions: tags in compound tags such as "if, in, let, with, ...". In your case, the "dtml-var" is simply not recognized and treated as a string rather than expanded. Serious problems upgrading to 2.1.6...

I'm trying to upgrade a ZServer-only environment from 2.0.0 to 2.1.6 and am experiencing serious problems. I'm using the RPMs available from http://starship.python.net/crew/jrush/Zope/Zope216.html I downloaded the A bundle and the zserver option from the C bundle. I then installed them using rpm -u -v -h Zope-2.1.6-1.i386.rpm Zope-zserver-2.1.6-1.i386.rpm My main Zope server seems to have adapted to this just fine, however, I am also running a ZServer-only setup listening on 127.0.0.2:9673 (sitting behind an Apache proxy). This is where I'm having trouble. When the RPMs installed, they stuck Python modules in both /usr/share/zope and /usr/lib/python1.5/site-packages. My startup script finnagles sys.path to ['/usr/share/zope/ZServer', '/usr/lib/python1.5/site-packages/DocumentTemplate', '/usr/share/zope/lib/python', '/usr/share/zope', '/home/dolphin/skip/cmd', '', '/usr/lib/python1.5/', '/usr/lib/python1.5/plat-linux2', '/usr/lib/python1.5/lib-tk', '/usr/lib/python1.5/lib-dynload', '/usr/lib/python1.5/site-packages', '/usr/local/lib/automatrix/python'] The last directory contains my application software. In particular, it contains the single module that gets published. The first time I try to access the ZServer via the proxy I get an ImportError:  This suggests to me that the mxDateTime module isn't being imported. It's a little bit of a miff that the RPMs install stuff in the site-packages directory that can't stand alone, especially stuff like MAL's DateTime package that should be able to stand alone. As you can see from the first traceback, I'm using DateTime via the MySQLdb module. It's quite likely that I've screwed up my directory tree and sys.path somehow, but I was hoping someone out there could see what I've done wrong or what might be done to correct the damage installing the RPMs has done. Is it safe to just reinstall MAL's DateTime package back over the busted one that came with the RPMs? Any feedback would be appreciated. Working with ZopeTime

Hi All, Im trying to display information based on what day of the week it tis using: <dtml-if "date1 == '<dtml-var ZopeTime fmt=Day>'"> The date1 property on the page I'm calling is "Tuesday". It works when i do this: <dtml-if "date1 == 'Tuesday'"> But not with: <dtml-if "date1 == '<dtml-var ZopeTime fmt=Day>'"> (and yes, the day I'm doing it on is Tuesday). Any ideas? Thanks. Zope 2.0.1 export

Hi, I have an old linux system running a document store I wrote some time ago in Zope 2.0.1. I've tried exporting my document store but cannot seem to get it re-imported into the latest version of Zope. I can ftp the documents out, but of course lose all the information about each document. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this working ? Kind Regards Paul Gresham

I agree with Lalo and others that powerful (but secure) Python features like lambda and map should be available, especially in PythonMethods. You want to encourage people to use these whenever possible instead of hacking the source tree. I also think that it would be a MISTAKE to have a wide divergence between what's available as an expression in DTML versus allowed in a PythonMethod. Otherwise you'll end up spending the rest of the decade answering the same six FAQ's "no, you can't do that in DTML, only in a PythonMethod." The functionality should be the same, and the selling point for the PM is its self contained cleanliness.

delete dictionary

hello, i've created some dictionaries in a dtml-document, for example like this: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('Monday',{'titel' : 'this is to do on monday'})"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('Tuesday',{'titel' : 'this is very bizarrr'})"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('Wednesday',{'titel' : 'how to do that?'})"> ... and a bit later in the document i need to delete them again ... how can i do that? no one of my DELETE-experiments worked ... thnx.urs

Question about <dtml-in> sorting

Does sort only sort in one direction? I am looking to sort news items so that the newest items are on top, and when sorting on a date field, I get the opposite behaviour. Any easy way to reverse the sort order? Thanks pk

Not that this can't be done too early since the URL is used for other internal book keeping. I found that the folowing modification works....
