Re: yet another LOCAL FS question
by Tom Scheidt 31 May '00

Thanks Jonothan. But what I want to do is sort of the reverse. I want to process the image files throught Zope to be so they can be cataloged with keywords but have the actual images sit in Apache. Image file | Uploaded through a form page in Zope | ------------------------------------------------------------- | | id and keywords sent Image file sent to Apache to Catalog. The logic behind this is that the imagse are served up from Apache and don't load down Zope, but they can be searched by keyword and previewed within Zope through local fs. I hope this makes sense, and thakns again for your help. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jonothan Farr" <jfarr(a)real.com> To: "Tom Scheidt" <tom(a)falsemirror.com> Sent: Tuesday, May 30, 2000 7:38 PM Subject: Re: yet another LOCAL FS question > > I want to use this: > > > > <dtml-call "manage_addImage(id=REQUEST['id'], file=REQUEST['file'])"> > > > > <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect( URL +'/success_html')"> > > > > but have the images placed into a folder in Apache. The *really* interesting thing is that their "Register Now!" link points to vistaregform.cfm, which is implies that they are using ColdFusion. RE: [Zope] Use of lambda expression in DTML - Result!
by Nick Drew 31 May '00

Thanks for helping me solve this one. In the end I did the following: 1) hacked DocumentTemplate/DT_Util.py to include "filter" in the __builtins__ 2) Installed PythonMethods and called pruneTree with parameter 'self' and content return _.filter( lambda x: x.getProperty('pruneFromTree',0)==0 , self.objectValues(['Folder']) ) 3) The new tag reads <dtml-tree name="Outline" leaves=dtcTemplate branches="pruneTree"> Chris McDonough wrote: |If it's something you want badly (and if you haven't already) add it as |a feature request to the Collector on Zope.org. Once other folks get |past the knee-jerk reaction, maybe it'll sink in as a good thing. In |the meantime, you can add it yourself if you like. Good idea - I'll do that. |Hopefully, you'll be so kind as to forgive me. That's easy - as long as you keep writing HowTos of the same quality as "Zope installation and upgrade" and "Zope enlightenment by understanding object orientation"... :-) |After seeing people post |DTML code to the list that they need debugged that computes pay rates, |has the shape of an arrowhead and scrolls past the maximum character |length of my email client horizontally, I'm a little leery of adding |anything whatsoever to DTML, as I think the rest of the folks at DC |are. Reducing the complexity of DTML is a good thing, however |it can be accomplished. Agreed. You can do some very powerful things with the lamda expressions, but they very quickly become unwieldy if used inappropriately, so I think people are right to be wary. Having said that, any sort of block structured language has the same pitfalls - e.g. Smalltalk, Self, even Java's anonymous classes could be used to detrimental effect. I prefer to leave this stuff to style and convention ("good practice") than prescribe them entirely. Thanks again, Nick.

still trying to get field names from a query of the form SELECT * FROM MYTABLE ><dtml-in "sqlListTable(table_name='personnel')"> > <dtml-in sequence-item> > <dtml-var sequence_key> ></dtml-in > doesnt seem to work niether does the How To http://www.zope.org/Members/teyc/howtoSQLVariables assuming I have understood it correctly ie. <dtml-let R="sqlListTable(table_name='personnel')"> <dtml-in SQL.names> <dtml-let vname=sequence-item vvalue="SQL()[0][_['sequence-index']]"> <dtml-var vname>, <dtml-var vvalue> </dtml-let> </dtml-in> </dtml-let> FINALLY I have succeded in doing what I want by using an external method which returns the list of fieldname ! ie. def getFieldNames(self, res): fieldnames=res._schema.items() return fieldnames I would still be interested in knowing how to do the job correctly. adam adam.molyneaux(a)epfl.ch

WebDAV, Web Folders and collaborative work
by Neil Burnett 31 May '00

31 May '00

I am trying to unravel the mysteries of collaborative document editing via the web. There looks to be a lot of potential in the WebDAV stuff, but I think I am missing a brick from the load: I am happily dragging and dropping documents between my Zope server and my desktop using the 'Open as Web Folder' facility of IE5. This seems to save me from writing an upload page but not much else. What I am looking for is a way to prevent others from editing the document whilst I have it. I thought WebDAV helped with this. Maybe I need to do something with a Version? have I missed the point? Regards Neil

I'm a little confused over this. >From your previous mail I understood that jcNTUserFolder was to be used only behind IIS. It interpreted the REMOTE_USER var passed in after challenge/response authentication by IIS and made this into a Zope user. Now your talking about jcForceAuth and saying that users login using basic authentication with their NT username and password?????? how do I get field names from a query
by Adam Molyneaux 31 May '00

how do I get the names of the fields returned from a SQL query ? ( I would like to generate stuff using the names automatically) I know they must be available because I can use them directly ! I've tried lots of alternatives of the form <dtml-in "sqlListTable(table_name='personnel')"> <dtml-in sequence-item> <dtml-var sequence_item> </dtml-in > which give me the values but not the names, and looked through lots of the old msgs. Thanks in advance if anyone can help adam adam.molyneaux(a)epfl.ch

Why it doesn't work?

Hello, i can't understand why this simple method is not working: <dtml-var standard_html_header> ID of this page:<dtml-var id> <dtml-with QUERY_STRING> New ID is:<dtml-var id> </dtml-with> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> If i call this page with a query string "?variable" i expect to see the id of the object called... but it's not working!
