What is holding me up it that I need to make it possible to INSERT and UPDATE records base on the persons name and not the id number. somthing along the lines of this. INSERT INTO address (per_id,street,city,state,zip) VALUES ('SELECT per_id FROM person WHERE first = '<dtml-var first>' AND last = '<dtml-var last>'','<dtml-var street>','<dtml-var city> ...etc; I can't seem to figure out the SQL statment to use. I need to use a SELECT as a VALUE in an INSERT statment some how. can that be done, or should I use a View with an UPDATE and INSERT rule ? Richard

Squishdot Interfaces Now Documented

The python interfaces that Squishdot provides, some of which are available in DTML, are now documented at: http://zope.nipltd.com/Squishdot/Squishterfaces I realised that this was a necessary step before trying to add the ZCatalog-based indexing that will be the main feature of Squishdot 0.4.0 and will enabel Squishdot to work wih Zope 2.2 as well as fixing some bugs. cheers, Chris

ZopeLDAP creation problem

Ok, I'm probably missing something obvious here, but at the moment it's evading me. I've installed ZLDAP, but am unable to create a ZLDAPConnection. Whenever I try I get the error: Error Type: INVALID_CREDENTIALS Error Value: {'desc': 'Invalid credentials'} I've also noticed that if you try to create a ZLDAPConnection and not open it at the same time, you get the error Invalid request The parameter, openc, was omitted from the request. This makes me think that I'm not entering the correct information for the server, but it's not obvious what. Any ideas? Cheers, Stephen

Zwiki permissions

The ZPublisher uses ":<type>" suffixes in argument names (and thereby form field names) to convert the (necessarily) string content to the appropiate type. And, of cause, it raises an exception, if this is impossible. If you want do the conversion by yourself, use a different suffix, e.g. "__<type>". Maybe "-<type>" or something in the same spirit will work, too. Dieter

ZTopics and Zope2.2.0a1 don't mix

Just thought I would let people know that ZTopics 1.0 and the Zope 2.2.0 alpha (and the CVS version of Zope it appears) do not play nice together. As long as you use standard zope item properties, or non-ZClass objects, it works fine. However, try to use any ZClass items and 'additional' properties, and it fails on an attribute error regardin 'Vocabulary'. Process: o Create catalog, call it 'Catalog' o Give a DTML Document a property of 'TopicName', value of 'Testing' o Add the property to the index and metadata tables in the catalog o Add the DTML Document to the catalog (via find) o Create A ZTopic give it a search for 'Testing' (with quotes!) in the TopicName field o Look at your ZTopic. it should appear fine. o Now create a ZClass, inherit from 'ZCatalog: CatalogAware' o Give it an index_html method to see something when you look at it (optional) o Give it a propertysheet, and a property 'TopicName' o Create an instance of your ZClass, make sure it has 'Testing' as the value for TopicName. o Now look at your ZTopic. All will not be well; it will gripe about the Vocabulary. o Now change the query to meta_type, and for whatever your ZClass' metatype is Now look at your ZTopic folder, all should be well. If anyone has a fix, I would appreciate it (and am sure Amos would accept a patch, I am looking into that part of it myself, but have gotten a bit turned around and may have to shelve it for the night :-( ).
