Zope/Apache Image Catalog
by Tom Scheidt 20 May '00

20 May '00

Hi I want to be able to upload images into a folder on Apache using a form page in Zope, and at the same time have the ids cataloged with keywords into a ZCatalog. Basically, to be able to search on keywords and have the related images displayed on a page. Does anyone have any recommendations, or know of any examples of this? Thanks in advance. Sorting dtml-in with properties
by Adrian Esteban Madrid 20 May '00

20 May '00

Can you do a sort in a dtml-in by a propety of the object? What I want to do is sort the documents in a folder by a fixed number set in a property of that document. I tried something like this but it didn't work. <dtml-in "objectValues(['DTML Document'])" sort=order> Any ideas how this could be accomplished? Adrian

I think a lot of people, myself included, have had problems trying to clone objects inside of new ZClass instances. This sounds like the problem you're having. I haven't heard of a simple solution to the problem. John Morton talked about a possible workaround in a previous posting. Don't know if this will work for you, though. Begin previous post by John Morton, March 28 ------------------------------------------------------------- Tres Seaver writes: > > Take three. Just offhand, did you try to just call that > additional method, before redirecting to it? I have seen a couple of cases > where I refactored code like that into a new method and then things got simpler. Tried that - I in-lined it on the list for brevity's sake. The problem is definitely with manage_clone not wanting to be used on a thing inside the transaction that creates that thing. ------------------------------------------------------------- End previous post

: generic adddtmlDocument method need to find extra form data type
by Sin Hang Kin 20 May '00

Hello, I have make the method for adding a dtml-document to the current folder with additional data as properties, However, I can not determine the type of the data, the type information I put in the form :date is removed by zope. (also, zope display an ugly debug screen if the data type is wrong), HOW can I get control of the data type? the code is below, I have manually make all data to string. CODE : add_dtmlDocument <dtml-comment> This method add a dtml-document to the current folder or to what folder point to If no id is found in REQUEST one is generated, the title, data is set to the title and data of the DTML document. all other data from the form including those hidden data, is set as properties of the dtmldocument </dtml-comment> <dtml-if id> <dtml-else> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('id', 'randomstr')"> </dtml-if> <dtml-call "manage_addDTMLDocument(REQUEST['id'], REQUEST['title'], data)"> <dtml-in "REQUEST.form.keys()"> <dtml-if "_['sequence-item']!='id' and _['sequence-item']!='data' and _['sequence-item']!='title' and _['sequence-item']!='add_dtmlDocument'"> <dtml-call "_.getitem(REQUEST['id']).manage_addProperty(_['sequence-item'],REQUEST.form [_['sequence-item']], 'string', REQUEST)"> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> <dtml-comment> <dtml-call "_.getitem(REQUEST['id']).manage_changeProperties(REQUEST)"> </dtml-comment> Rgs, Kent Sin --------------------------------- kentsin.weblogs.com kentsin.imeme.net

I'm banging my head on the wall for this. I have a ZClass which derives from Folder, and has permissons for "Documents, Images and Files". ZWiki do not support utf-8
by Sin Hang Kin 20 May '00

20 May '00

Hello, I am trying to use zWiki with Chinese. However, I found out that zwiki & quote some bytes of the utf-8, this break the string. For example, the utf-8 character is composed by three bytes : abc, but zwiki quote one of the byte a, then it comes out as &something;bc which is not a valid utf-8 char. Is this a common zope behavior or just zwiki problem? If it is zwiki, how can I fix it? Rgs, Kent Sin --------------------------------- kentsin.weblogs.com kentsin.imeme.net

FYI: Some changes on Zope.org
by Paul Everitt 19 May '00

19 May '00

Howdy folks. Just a heads up on some changes about to land on the zope.org server. Jim Fulton and Shane Hathaway have wrapped up a first cut at "mountable databases". We're using it to prune in a Data.fs that won't get packed, to preserve history information in a Wiki. (Many of you will note that this is a feature that's been long, long asked for.) This might involve a little downtime. We're certainly breaking our rule of "Don't screw with Zope.org on Friday afternoons", but Jim promises that nothing bad will happen. If you notice any burps this afternoon...don't email us, we're aware of it. If after 7PM EDT today you notice burps...email webmaster(a)zope.org. One other note. We'll probably be putting ZEO in place on Zope.org next week. It's doing pretty well in the alpha testing. If it survives Zope.org, we'll be in good shape for releasing it. --Paul Paul Everitt Digital Creations paul(a)digicool.com 540.371.6909 ----------------------------------------- The Open Source Zope application server http://www.zope.org/ -----------------------------------------

expression evaluation in dtml
by Andy 19 May '00

19 May '00

hi there, I <dtml-in...> over a ZSQL-method and get a variable named auth_user from the database I am accessing. When I do a <dtml-var auth_user>, it renders 'andyman', as I expected. Now, when I do a <dtml-var "REQUEST.AUTHENTICATED_USER">, it also renders 'andyman'. But when I then do a <dtml-if "REQUEST.AUTHENTICATED_USER == auth_user "> Hello </dtml-if>, nothing happens, and that is not what I am expecting. Can anybody please explain and help me out? andyman

ODBC Database Connection
by joel grimes 19 May '00

19 May '00

1st, thanks RDM for the quick and accurate response to my first question. I've encountered an error when trying to select data from a table. In the TEST tab of the ODBC Database Connection I typed in the following query: select * from Products; I get the following error: Error Type: ValueError Error Value: unpack sequence of wrong size I checked to make sure that the Products table does show up in the BROWSE tab. Any Ideas? Thanks Joel Grimes ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
