Windows 2000 professional is the equivalent of NT Workstation. on Windows 2000 server, there is two way of managing the domain: the old way (with pdc/bdc,etc.), and the new way, with active directory. in native mode, pdc/bdc support is disabled and my code rely on it. you may not be concerned by this 'problem' because nt 2000 pro (aka workstation) can't manage a domain. > > > If a subfolder has its own NT user folder, a user, > > > given another role within this subfolder, is forced > > > to authenticate again and this authentication always > > > fails. > > the roles given to the user in the sub-folder *replace* the roles > > defined in higher folders, due to the way user folders work. > > the user in > > the subfolder must have the same role as in higher folders (so he can > > traverse the higher folders), plus any new roles in the subfolder. > This ist what I have done. I also revoked all rights for > anonymous users. So everybody must log in to use the site. bizarre, it should work. are you sure that Benutzers can *view* sub folders? where did you create the administrator role? in the top level folder or in the sub folders? by the way, where do your users authenticate from? from the nt 2k pro box (that is, the users are created *on* this box)? from a different domain (and the domain controller is another machine)? until I can write a better doc, also read in the zope archives the messages from 'Ava' and 'minf7' I'm not at the office right now, so I can't do further tests. but I should be able to reply on monday, at least. by the way, if you want to force all users to log in, you may consider using zope with iis, and let iis do the authentication. this may not be possible with nt 2k *pro* (it doesn't work with nt workstation because IIS requires nt server). see http://www.zope.org/Members/jephte hope this help jephte clain minf(a)educ.univ-reunion.fr note: I'm leaving in 10 mn. if you want to reply, reply right now. if not, see you on monday

RE: [Zope] Assigning strings using DTML-LET

Hi Try <dtml-let criteria="'1=1'"> The bit inside the double quotes is evaluated as a python expression, and thus returns the string you want. See http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Guides/DTML-HTML/DTML.10.html hth, -- Marcus > -----Original Message----- > From: Jason Wong [mailto:jwong@digitalview.com.hk] > Sent: 31 March 2000 12:35 > To: Send Zope Mailing List > Subject: [Zope] Assigning strings using DTML-LET > > > > I'm trying to assign the string: > > 1=1 > > to the variable criteria using this construct: > > <dtml-let criteria='1=1'> > > but I can't because Zope complains: > > invalid parameter: "=1'", for tag <dtml-let criteria='1=1'>, > on line 5 of > Create_List > > Some playing around reveals that it doesn't like spaces and > the equals sign > (=) in the string. > > Am I correct in thinking that something delimited by single > quotes (eg. > 'this is a string') is a string? So no dtml calling from my point. Ah, so I understand that it's not called with arguments. So you need another external method. Change you external method to look like this def recursiveMethod(obj, result): if hasattr(obj, 'aq_parent'): result.append(obj.title) recursiveMethod(obj.aq_parent, result) return result def ParentList(self): obj=self return recursiveMethod(obj, []) Then make you external method refer to ParentList This works without arguments from a testfolder. It should work from a ZClass as well, but I did not test that. > >If there is a traceback, it will show in the same way as normally, I > >believe. > > I don't know. Effective Rights
by Mario Lang 31 Mar '00

31 Mar '00

Hi. Is there any way to calculate a roles effective rights on a object in Zope? I currently have the situation that I can access two DTML documents in a folder anonymously, and two other DTML documents only with manage users. Trying to track the problem down, but I dont get it right. What about this acquire permission settings checkbox? Is there any special behavior when I added a local role in a folder? Can this affect acquisition of permissions of e.g. the anonymous role? CYa, Mario

smbUserFolder
by Simon Dueckert +49 170 2118890 31 Mar '00

Hi, I have a Problem using the smbUserFolder product. I think I installed all the modules (smbvalid...) correctly but the authentification is not working. Is there any possibility to get some debbugging information to know where the problem is (the zope log file tells me nothing)? Is there any possibility to see from within python if the smbvalid module works? best regards Simon

Don't know if you want to pursue this further, but if so, let's try and track it down How do you call it from dtml? passing arguments from dtml methods to SQL methods
by Allen Wallis 31 Mar '00

31 Mar '00

Hi, Thanks for previous help on the namespace variable '_', much appreciated! I have another problem though, how does one pass parameters between DTML methods, and from dtml methods to ZSQL methods? I have a DTML method "getSearchResults" that gets called when a form is posted using <FORM... action="getSearchResults"> <INPUT NAME="fname" </FORM> The method gets called and magically the form fields like fname described in the above form are accessible from the dtml method, so I can do <dtml-var fname> and there's the input from the user. (I still don't fully understand how that bit of black magic works...) Ok, then I have a ZSQL method with fname as an argument, and again, when my dtml method calls the zsql method, that variable fname can be accessed using <dtml-var fname> in the SQL query. While maybe I don't completely understand what's happening, I can still use it. The problem now is, my ZSQL method needs to have an argument "tablename" that it can use so that a different table can be selected, however, this tablename is not under the user's direct control. It gets set according to some choices that the user makes along the way. I would hence need to "declare" it in the dtml method "getSearchResults", initialise it, and pass it to the ZSQL method so that the ZSQL method can use it. I tried doing the following: (suppose the ZMYSQL method's id is "searchMySQL"). in the dtml method: <dtml-if expr="whatever"> <dtml-var name="getSearchResults(fname=fname, tablename='suppname')"> </dtml-if> So that didn't work, but maybe it describes what I'm trying to do - that is, fname exists and is initialised from the user's form input, but I want to create the variable tablename, and pass it to another method (or just create in the namespace space so that it's accessible to other methods). Sorry to be so long-winded, trying my best to describe things with my very limited knowledge of zope/python. Many thanks Allen

Collector Update
by Tres Seaver 31 Mar '00

31 Mar '00

After a quick review of the Collector, I have modified it such that the details of "normal" bugs/features are immediately visible to anonymous users. We hope that this information will make life simpler for the Zope community, and that we will be able to work toward a steady resolution of the open issues. I also added a checkbox to the submission form for issues which you believe to be security-related. These issues will be tagged with a special status, and not immediately visible to anonymous users. We intend to re-mark such issues as quickly as possible, but would like to have an opportunity to assess them before publicizing them. Thanks to all who feed the Collector's voracious maw!
