Bug: thousand_sep does not respect locale
by Dr. Peer Griebel 30 Mar '00

Hi, I just found something in DT_Var.py which I mean is a bug. The function thousands_commas uses a hard coded ',' to as thousands delimiter. I think it would be best to use locale.format instead for this purpose. Is there anybody how can incorporate this change into Zope?! One more related question: How can I print the current currency symbol in Zope? I could not access the locale namespace in a dtml method. Thank you. -- connection reset by Peer _______________________________________________________________________ Dr. Peer Griebel Tel. +49 7581 4831 23 Geschäftsführer Fax. +49 7581 4831 11 Knoll Informationssysteme GmbH http://www.knoll-is.de Dreiköniggasse 17 mailto:peer@knoll-is.de 88348 Saulgau privat: mailto:peer.griebel@gmx.de

Zope ISP performance comparison?
by Sean Kelley 30 Mar '00

30 Mar '00

I have a zope ISP (hurrah.com) and am trying to determine how fast/reliable they are. Is there a way to compare Zope ISPs for speed and reliability. I would imagine speed is the easiest to test and reliability is subjective and based on historical knowledge. I am just having trouble telling if my test version of Squishdot (and my test site in general) is really supposed to be as slow as it is. I am used to working with a large ISP (Verio) with no Zope. Any ideas on how to compare or test would be greatly appreciated. Date Zone Problem
by julio dinis 30 Mar '00

Hello, Last March 26th Portugal changed to GMT+1. ZopeTime() returns, for instance, "2000/03/30 16:00:00.000 GMT+0". 16 hours is correct but I think it should give a GMT+1 at the end of the date? I found this because I'm having this problem: I have a object with a property date that when created first time with the factory add method uses the manage_changeProperties with the date value added to request with, <dtml-var "REQUEST('date',ZopeTime())">. The object is cataloged. Then I make a search to get the objects and sort them by date. When I render this objects dates If I format the output using fmt="%C %Style" the date presented is "2000/03/30 15:00:00.000 GMT+0", one hour less!! Since this is not right cause the real hour is 16 I work around the problem and discovered that the TimeHours() function returns the correct 16 hours. That resolved my output problem. But then again a problem emerge. I have a form to update my objects properties, in this case, the date property. This form when rendered writes a <input type=text:date name=mydate>. When submited a strange thing happen. If I output the date of this updated object with the fmt="%C %Style" format the hour will now be correct, i.e, 16. I though then that the "text:date" type in the html was important for this happening. But the problem now is that when sorting my objects this one will be sorted using 16 as the hour but other objects that I did not updated, i.e, dont passing them trough the "text:date" form, will be giving 15 for the sort. Questions: Is this a internationalization of zope related problem? Does the GMT+0 instead of GMT+1 is a zope/python bug? Am I missing something about the international date zone system? Best Regards, Julio ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

name conflict - ImageFile
by Lauri Posti 30 Mar '00

Hi, I ran into trouble when trying use PIL (python imaging lib) in zope product. The problem is that zope's App.ImageFile is used by PIL's internals instead of PILs ImageFile and of course this doesn't work. Any ideas how to fix this problem? Im using Debian Linux 2.2 pyhton packages. thanks, Lauri

namespaces and uploading files etc
by Allen Wallis 30 Mar '00

Hi, I've written an external method that will write some data to a specified location in the server's file system. I would like a user to be able to upload a binary file, and for the external method to then write that file to the local file system. I understand that when a user uploads something using an <INPUT TYPE="file" NAME="uFile"> that the file is encapsulated in a FileUpload object. That data would be accessible in my external method using REQUEST.uFile.read(). However, suppose my external method is defined as : def writeFile(self, file, rootdir, filename): ...write data using f.write(file.read()) return filename I would like the argument "file" above to be a reference to REQUEST.uFile. Also, the "filename" that is returned would be the actual filename used (it may have been altered due to filename clashes or whatever). I tried using the following dtml to call this method: <dtml-let filename="writeFileLocally(_.None, _, _.uFile, '/usr/local/ZopeExternalFiles/Components', _.uFile.filename)"> <dtml-var filename> </dtml-let> However zope complains... I'm obviously still fumbling with zope's namespaces. Thanks Allen

Unfortunately, the photos are up to 350kb. Ok, ten smaller objects could do :-)))

Adding items to REQUEST.form
by Pierre-Julien GRIZEL 30 Mar '00

30 Mar '00

Hi, I cannot, at first sight, add values to REQUEST.form dictionnary this way : <dtml-call "REQUEST.form.set ('Var', 'Value')"> Zope returns a key error on "set". The same appends for 'append' method, as if, in fact, REQUEST.form was not a dictionnary. Does anyone know why and how to bypass this ?... Regards, Pierre-Julien Grizel

Sure. You just need to 'packagize' PIL. Place the PIL directory somewhere in your Zope's python's path. Add an __init__.py to the PIL directory. Inside the __init__.py place the following: # Add any additional PIL modules that you want imported. # This is one, long import statement that my email clien will # wrap. import Image, ImageFile, ImageEnhance, ImageDraw, _imaging, GifImagePlugin, JpegImagePlugin, PngImagePlugin, BmpImagePlugin HTH Drew > Lauri Posti <lauri(a)mutabor.ee> said: > I ran into trouble when trying use PIL (python imaging lib) in zope > product. > The problem is that zope's App.ImageFile is used by PIL's internals > instead of PILs ImageFile and of course this doesn't work. > > Any ideas how to fix this problem? > > Im using Debian Linux 2.2 pyhton packages. > > > thanks, > Lauri

You have to set that checkbox in the account, that is supposed to access that data in it's default view, or in that account session you must use the "Go-control" to switch to the shared account.
