I should have been more clear, hopefully someone else already has told you in the meantime, but if not, the colons should be in the HTML FORM fields, not inside the target DTML method. That is, if you have check boxes or multiple select form-input-elements, you would use something like: <input type=checkbox name="mychoices:list" value="myvalue1"> ... <select name="mychoices:list" multiple> <option> ... Inside DTML, you would just use the name "mychoices" without the colon. Something like: <dtml-in mychoices> <dtml-call "qryCAssign(user_id=_['sequence-item'], client_id=client_id)"> </dtml-in> If qryCAssign() is a DTML method instead of an external method, generally you would need to prepend (_.None, _,... ) to the argument list. That is, qryCAssign(_.None, _, user_id=.......) regards, Hung Jung ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

RE: SiteAccess breaks ZDConfera
by Alexander Staubo 22 Mar '00

Please send me the patch. The problem does not seem to have anything to do with URLs, but rather the objects indexed by the topic -- but I could be wrong here. Is there a way to modify ZDConfera/ZDiscussions to fix the problem, without patching ZPublisher? I wouldn't want to break something else in the process. -- Alexander Staubo http://alex.mop.no/ The difference between theory and practice is that, in theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. > -----Original Message----- > From: Evan Simpson [mailto:evan@digicool.com] > Sent: Wednesday, March 22, 2000 10:35 PM > To: Alexander Staubo; zope(a)zope.org > Cc: mike(a)digicool.com > Subject: Re: SiteAccess breaks ZDConfera > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Alexander Staubo <alex(a)mop.no> > > Adding a SiteRoot object to some folder upward from a > ZDConfera topic > > ("Confera Topic" object) will break the topic. > > I strongly suspect that this is a symptom of a known (to me) > incompatibility > between SiteAccess and ZCatalog. Can Zope extract an image (BLOB) from an RDB ?
by chas 22 Mar '00

22 Mar '00

I've got 8000 photos (jpeg format) stored in an Oracle database. The table that contains the photos has these columns which are of interest : PICTURE LONG RAW PICTURE_LENGTH NOT NULL NUMBER(14) My goals in order of progression are : 1. Extract the image from the database using ZSQL methods 2. Serve that image up directly to the web browser 3. Save the image to the filesystem or, even better, create a Zope Image Object Unfortunately, I'm stuck at step 1. Doing a request on the database with ZSQL methods is returning : Error, oci.error: (911, 'ORA-00911: invalid character\012') Is there any way for Zope to handle this or is this going to involve python-DCOracle scripts instead and then uploading into Zope ? Thank you very much in advance, chas

RE: [Zope] How do I get the owner of a document?
by Alexander Staubo 22 Mar '00

22 Mar '00

If the object inherits from CatalogAware, you get a bonus method called owner(), which you can call like so: <p>The owner of this document is <dtml-var owner>.</p> If not, you can use the get_local_roles() method. You need to iterate it -- best with an External Method. Like so: def GetOwner(self): for Role in self.get_local_roles(): if 'Owner' in Role[1]: return Role[0] return 'Zope' Add this External Method at top-level. Then, thanks to Acquisiton, you can access the value in any document thus: <p>The owner of this document is <dtml-var GetOwner>.</p> Hope this helps. -- Alexander Staubo http://alex.mop.no/ The difference between theory and practice is that, in theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. > -----Original Message----- > From: Oliver Andrich [mailto:oli@rz-online.net] > Sent: Wednesday, March 22, 2000 10:42 PM > To: zope(a)zope.org > Subject: [Zope] How do I get the owner of a document? > > > Hi, > > may be I am just to dumb or something like that, but Zope has > to now who is > the owner of a certain document. PHP vs Zope
by Nikolai Vladychevski 22 Mar '00

22 Mar '00

Hello, I recently started to work with php (+ Apache), and now I found Zope. At the first sight, Zope seems to be faster than php, but I don't know if it's my php application that is not so complex than Zopes objects. So I would like to ask, is there a benchmarks or articles or any sources that discuss about performance and developing PHP versus Zope? Also, i am cuirious, was Zope developed to replace PHP in the future? And what if PHP comes up with an interface like Zope, so what would be better? Many questions, isn't it .... Any comments are welcome. Thanks. Nikolai

ZopeTime inconsistency.
by Chad Streck 22 Mar '00

22 Mar '00

Yes, I'm a zope newbie, but could someone enlighten me on the following senario. I use the following dtml to get a date time field.... <dtml-var ZopeTime> <input type='hidden' name='dateposted' value='<dtml-var ZopeTime fmt="%Y%m%d%H%M%S">' size=14> ... and it produces the following html source.... 2000/03/22 15:34:29.4534 Us/Central <input type='hidden' name='dateposted' value='20000322213429' size=14> As you can see, the plain ZopeTime products the proper out put of 3:34 (15:34) where the formated one to bring it down to what I want to store in the system is showing 9:34 (2134) which is the time zone offset of the time zone I am in (CST6CDT). Has anyone seen this before or is there a known cause/fix? I looked on the zope site and the archives for this list, but didn't find anything on it. I saw a lot of hits on Google for ZopeTime about not returning proper values and other 'weirdness'. Any help would be appreciated. chad

Is there a way for > Zope to respond to a cgi program that's being called as "img src" value? I think maybe the issue got clouded by the phrase, "server-side includes". What you are asking for is not a server-side include: you want to generate a tag in Zope, something like: <img src="build_graph?units=hours&series_a=hit_count&series_b=load_factor"> This isn't SSI because the browser makes a separate request for the image, after/while loading the page containing the tag; SSI is massaged by the server before the browser ever sees the text. That said, it *is* feasible to build a parameterized image link, using exactly this kind of syntax. There are a couple of contributed products which do on-the-fly image generation: * "gdchart":http://www.zope.org/Members/teyc/ZGDChart "draws charts using data from your ZSQLMethod" * "TTImage":http://www.zope.org/Members/RainDog/TTImage Converts text strings into a GIF/PNG/JPEG images using TrueType fonts. I may have even missed one -- check out the "Zope Products":http://www.zope.org/Products page. -- ========================================================= Tres Seaver tseaver(a)palladion.com 713-523-6582 Palladion Software http://www.palladion.com

SiteAccess breaks ZDConfera
by Alexander Staubo 22 Mar '00

22 Mar '00

Adding a SiteRoot object to some folder upward from a ZDConfera topic ("Confera Topic" object) will break the topic. It seems that when adding a message, instead of inserting a valid message object, ZDConfera ends up adding a corrupt object. At one point ZDConfera, when I tried adding a follow-up, duplicated the parent message instead of adding the reply, resulting in a circular reference that only a database restore would fix. This is Zope 2.1.4, SiteAccess 1.0.1, ZDiscussions 0.2.0, on Slackware Linux 2.2. Here's the traceback.
