Old style to newstyle dtml tag converter?
by Alexander Schonfeld 08 Mar '00

08 Mar '00

Just wondering if anyone had written a nice recursive tag converter script? We have some older zope sites and it might be nice to move to the new style <dtml- from <--# tags. I'm also waiting for someone to write the "dtml-method beautifier". :) Thanks in advance for any tips/pointers/source. Re: [Zope] POLL: Preferred browser?
by John Goerzen 08 Mar '00

Well, as a note to the Zope folks, I would really prefer to use Lynx... but the zope management screens are not at all lynx-friendly (FRAMES!). Sigh. Use of HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE in Zope
by Sin Hang Kin 08 Mar '00

08 Mar '00

I am making a new head zope index_html file, I think it is now about time to make use of the HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE which is sent by the browser to indicate the perferred language. The variable is a string like: lang1, lang2;q=p1,lang3;q=p2.... while lang1, lang2, lang3 is the perferenced languages. I have think of the following ways to make such brenches in zope: 1. by setting the lang variable in the REQUEST 2. by transfer to the brench of lang/ 3. brench calls of index_lang What will be the perferred way to make such a brench? I want to hear from all. In building the brench code : I have come up with the code: <dtml-in "_.string.split(HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE, ',')"> .....do thing according to sequence-item </dtml-in> but on the second argument, the sequence-item may contain ;q=0.5 which need to be trancated. How can I trancated that in dtml? Rgs, Kent Sin

AUTHENTICATED_USER.getUserName()
by John Williams 08 Mar '00

08 Mar '00

>Is there a HOW-TO or other documentation that shows how to set up a login >page so that you can use AUTHENTICATED_USER.getUserName()? Thanks in >advance for any help/pointers provided. I don't know if there is a how-to but the way I do this is very simple. I have a simple form with only a submit button with name login (it appears on a sidebar of the web site). When it is clicked it posts to the current URL. <dtml-if isRegistered> You are <dtml-in "AUTHENTICATED_USER.getRoles()"> <dtml-var sequence-item> </dtml-in> <b><dtml-var "AUTHENTICATED_USER.getUserName()"></b> <dtml-else> <FORM ACTION="<dtml-var baseURL>" METHOD="POST"> <INPUT NAME="logon" TYPE="SUBMIT" VALUE="Logon"> </form> </dtml-if> In the start of every page I call a method to check for 'login' in the REQUEST variable. If it exists I calls or references an empty method which anonymous users have no rights to but which authenticated users do have access to (with ID login in this example. <dtml-if "REQUEST.has_key('logon')"><dtml-var logon></dtml-if> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('isRegistered',AUTHENTICATED_USER.has_role(['Staff','Student','Manager']))"> Zope will therefore invoke the authentication mechanism which means the browser will ask for a login a password as usual. From there on the user will have been authenticated and you can check their name and what role(s) they have in the current context. As you can see once with the code given here the user has logged in instead of a login button they will see a message giving their username and global role(s). Hope this helps. -- Dr. John A.R. [newbe] MySQLDA Installation error at MySQLdb build.
by Eric L. Walstad 08 Mar '00

08 Mar '00

Hi David and the rest of the group, Can you believe I am still battling this MySQLDA installation!? ARGH! I hope you can help me out here: According to the HOWTO by alanpog, I've 1. Downloaded MySQLDA 1.1.3 2. Expanded it into my top level Zope Directory (/usr/local/Zope) Note that I did not do any installation here, just expanded it into this directory. 3. Downloaded MySQLdb v0.1.2 4. Expanded MySQLdb into /usr/local/Zope/lib/python/Products 4a. Modified the Setup.in file so that the one uncommented line is: _mysql _mysqlmodule.c -L/usr/local/lib/mysql -I/usr/local/include/mysql -lmysqlclie nt As you mentioned, these point to where my MySQL libraries are. 4b. According to the README file, ran 'python build.py' This is where I am stuck. The build.py script crunches along then bombs with the following error: Traceback (innermost last): File "build.py", line 14, in ? import MySQLdb File "MySQLdb.py", line 19, in ? from _mysql inport * ImportError: libmysqlclient.so.6: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory" I checked and this file is in my /usr/local/lib/mysql directory. It is a link to libmysqlclient.so.6.0.0. Both files are there; owner=root, group=root. I'm hoping this is a simple fix ;^) Any idea's would be greatly appreciated! index_html for root
by Sin Hang Kin 08 Mar '00

08 Mar '00

The attached file is intended to replace the current architecture of header body footer of current zope default index_html. Together there will be some attributes which can be used to modify its behaviors : wap - when defined, set the content-type in RESPONSE accordingly according to Ducan's WAP howto. and sent out the <wml></wml> tag. xml - when defined, set the content-type to xml/plaintext and the xml header frame - when defined, prevent sent out the body tag Only one of the above can be set. I still got problem with acquisition: if one of these is set in a higher lever, then all lowerlevel see it. Are there any easy way to set them off? doctype - when defined, should contain the correct doctype string: currently the following doctype is available: html4.0 htmlstrict4.0 htmltransistional4.0 htmlstrict4.01 htmltransitional4.01 htmlframe4.0 htmlframe4.01 xml1.0 xhtml1.0 The following is defined inside the index_html: dtml-head - the content of the <head></head> section dtml-headers - the content of contructs before the main body: This should not left any tag open. dtml-footers - the closing contents of the main body. There should not assume any opening tags. index_htm - the main content. a frameset statement if frame is defined. If the main content contains a table, then the main table is defined here, the parts in the table can then be dtml-var. A index1 index2 .... or indexr1c1 index r1c2 .... naming convention is suggested. I strongly suggest convert the current zope sites to adapt to this style through much works shall be needed. Further work would be in the dtm-head: Recently I will suggest to adapt the W3C core styles : http://www.w3.org/StyleSheets/Core/Overview All suggestion and comments are welcome. The index_html is below: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------ <dtml-if wap> <dtml-if "HTTP_USER_AGENT[:7]!='Mozilla'"> <?xml version="1.0"?> <!DOCTYPE wml PUBLIC "-//WAPFORUM//DTD WML 1.1//EN" "http://www.wapforum.org/DTD/wml_1.1.xml"> <wml> <dtml-var index_htm missing> </wml> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.setHeader('Content-Type', 'text/vnd.wap.wml')"> <dtml-else> <?xml version="1.0"?> <!DOCTYPE HTML SYSTEM "html40-mobile.dtd"> <html> <head> <dtml-var dtml-head missing> </head> <body> <dtml-var dtml-headers missing> <dtml-var index_htm missing> <dtml-var dtml-footers missing> </body> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.setHeader('Content-Type', 'text/plain')"> </html> </dtml-if> <dtml-elif xml> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.setHeader('Content-Type', 'text/xml')"> <dtml-if doctype> <dtml-var doctype> <dtml-else> <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> </dtml-if> <dtml-var index_htm missing="<xmlstring>Document Not Found</xmlstring>"> <dtml-elif frame> <dtml-if doctype> <dtml-var doctype> <dtml-else> <!DOCTYPE HTML> </dtml-if> <dtml-var index_htm missing> <dtml-else> <dtml-if doctype> <dtml-var doctype> <dtml-else> <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> </dtml-if> <html> <head> <dtml-var dtml-head missing> </head> <body> <dtml-var dtml-headers missing> <dtml-var index_htm missing> <dtml-var dtml-footers missing> </body> </html> </dtml-if>

Different Login Screens for Management and User?
by James W. Howe 08 Mar '00

08 Mar '00

In creating my web site, I'm planning on limiting access to certain portions of the site to registered users. When a user attempts to "view" these areas, if they haven't logged in, I want to display a login page and get their name and password. I also want to provide a way for the web site management team to login and perform management activities. I would like to present a different login screen (maybe just a basic auth dialog) to allow access to management functions. I've been playing around a little with GUF, but I haven't found a way to present two different login screens based on the type of page being accessed. Is this type of functionality possible with Zope? Would the LoginManager allow for this sort of thing? Thanks. James W.
