ZCatalog and dtml-calendar

I'm trying to create a dtml-calendar which searches a Z catalog using a custom field on one of my Z classes. I've tested the search by hand, and it seems to work. I seem to be having a few issues with DTML, though. What I was intending to do is perform the code if the search result actually returned something, but this doesn't seem to be happening. What I'd like to do is: <dtml-if "len(e) > 0)"> But, len() doesn't seem to be defined in whichever namespace the code is being run in. I tried: <dtml-call "global len"> before the dtml-if, but this errored out as well. Am I completely misunderstanding the problem which I'm having? Thanks.

Someone even suggested it might be my Motif lib. KDE, afaik, catches all the Motif calls and replaces them with its own widgets. Security/AUTHENTICATED_USER/GUF???

I have the following structure for my site.. /Home /Public /Members I've set up authentication to happen in /Members via GUF. When I go back to /Home, AUTHENTICATED_USER loses my authentication but when I go back to /Members I gain it back. Any ideas why this may be happening?? thanks jb --

GUF or MySQLUF?

Hi everyone, I have to decide which product to use to organise users' access using data from a MySQL database. As far as I can see I could use GenericUserFolder or MySQL UserFolder. Looking at the list it seems that GenericUserFolder is the one that's used more often and that's supported better. Or does it only make more trouble? I would be glad to receive some advice or get some comments. Ragnar

Newbie missing something obvious

Greetings all, I've been running Zope with the zserver web server for a while now, and the setup was a breeze. I've been very impressed with Zope. Now I've been tasked with installing Zope on another machine which is running Apache 1.3.11. From the documentation it looks like Zope+PCGI is going to suit my needs the best, but I'm having problems getting it to work (no surprise, given the large number of HOWTO's on the subject). I can get to the Welcome to Zope! page, and I can view the QuickStart material, but I'm unable to log in to the management interface. I'm also unable to access Zope at: www.mydomain.com/Zope only at: www.mydomain.com/cgi-bin/Zope.cgi so I'm sure it's an Apache/rewrite problem. I've made sure that the username and password are what I think they are via the python script zpasswd.py, and given that I can access the Welcome to Zope/QuickStart material I think I've got Zope configured correctly. After reading through the various HOWTO's on the subject I've got my httpd.conf file entries set as follows (the Gotchas for Zope Beginners HOWTO was very helpful, as was the Zope and Apache on RedHat 6.1 HOWTO, even though they were slightly contradictory on the syntax for the RewriteRule). I'm using RedHat 6.0, Zope 2.1.4, Python 1.5.2, and Apache 1.3.11. Zope was installed from source, Python and Apache from RPMs. Here's the relavent bits from Apache's httpd.conf file... LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so AddModule mod_rewrite.c ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ "/home/httpd/cgi-bin/" # # "/home/httpd/cgi-bin" should be changed to whatever your ScriptAliased # CGI directory exists, if you have that configured. # <Directory "/home/httpd/cgi-bin"> AllowOverride None Options ExecCGI Order allow,deny Allow from all </Directory> # Zope configuration maps /Zope/ to the Zope.cgi CGI script RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP:Authorization} ^(.*) RewriteRule ^/Zope(.*) /home/httpd/cgi-bin/Zope.cgi$1 \ [e=HTTP_CGI_AUTHORIZATION:%1,t=application/x-httpd-cgi,l] (Note: the RewriteRule is all on one line, without the \. The trailing / after ^/Zope and after Zope.cgi have been removed per the Gotchas for Zope Beginners HOWTO.) I'm at a loss here. fastcgi report (was how much resource?)

hi all, i installed fastcgi on my server and added -appconntimeout 0 (as suggested by ppetru). tried both unix and tcp socket. however, i can't get 100% availability. there still exist connection failed (connection refused) errors and incomplete headers 0 errors. my config rhl 6.1, pIII 500M, 776M RAM, oct6 fastcgi snapshot, FCGIServer.py from cvs ver 1.7, zope 2.1.3 i glanced at FCGIServer.py. there were references of max connection (10) and max request(50). will this have any bearing on the connection refused error? do i need to d/l other files instead of only FCGIServer.py? i am also considering mod_pcgi2. can anybody with fastcgi and mod_pcgi2 experience enlighten me? tia -- ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.kedai.com.my/kk Am I Evil?

ZClass question

Hi, Something that seems maybe very trivial, but I did'nt find the solution. I have a very simple class ItemId (metatype ItemClass) which is only a subclass of Image and has no property sheet. When I try to create a new instance I get the following message : Error Type: TypeError Error Value: argument file was ommitted Here is my addMethod: ....... <dtml-with "ItemId.createInObjectManager(REQUEST['id'], REQUEST)"> <dtml-call manage_upload(REQUEST['myimage']) </dtml-with> ...... Where 'myimage' is the name of a field of type file in my input_addForm. I works fine when I use manage_upload with an Image but not when it is a ZClass subclassing an Image. Where am I wrong? Thanks.

Cache settings?

Hi, In the Control Panel, Database, Cache area, what does Target Size refer to? Number of pages? Kilobytes? What does it mean by "target"? What exactly is being cached? Output from methods? The method content themselves? What is the difference between this and ZCache? Thanks, John

Frequent Zope Restarts and GUF authentication

I have a server that is being run in production mode without the -D flag. The server processes die after about two hours. I haven't seen the actual crash yet nor have any users complained about error messages. I know the server is restarting because the Control_Panel tells me so. Well, the real problem here is that since my site is protected with GenericUserFolder in cookie mode, GUF's cache gets wiped when the server bounces. This forces my users to log in again. Two questions, Any guesses as to what's causing the mysterious restarts? Any idea on how to resolve the GUF problem? -Jon

Python equivalent of dtml-with?

I'm writing an external method in Python which is going to be used to create new instances of a ZClass that I've written. In my normal DTML for object creation, I would do something like this: <dtml-with "ZClass.createInObjectManager(REQUEST['id'], REQUEST)"> <dtml-call "propertysheets.instanceProperties.manage_editProperties(REQUEST)"> <dtml-call unindex_object> <dtml-call "manage_editCataloger('MyCatalog', REQUEST)"> <dtml-call index_object> </dtml-with> I've got an external method written which is able to create a new object by calling the ZClass.createInObjectManager method. However, I'm not sure how to code up the code contained in the dtml-with block using Python. I suspect that I could get things to work for the example above with something like this: (self is the product containing my ZClass definition) newobj = self.ZClass.createInObjectManager(REQUEST['id'], REQUEST) newobj.propertysheets.instanceProperties.manage_editProperties(REQUEST) newobj.unindex_object() newobj.manage_editCataloger('MyCatalog', REQUEST) newobj.index_object() However, I'm interested in knowing how do code up stuff in Python which would take into account acquisition.
