I've tracked down the problems in using RESPONSE.write with ZServer. The symptoms of this bug are an incorrect Content-Length: 0 header, corrupt output, and no support for HTTP/1.1 clients. Site-Access-Performance-Problem ?

Hello, we have some strange problems with the "SiteAccess"-Product. We are building up three web-applications on one Zope-Server and three different domains. Everything works fine with the "Site-Access" but if you have more than 5 requests at one of the sites the speed gets very slow and you have to wait about 3-5 and more seconds to get back a simple dtml-document. We made some tests with the __no_before_traverse__ in the url and found that there isn't that speed-problem if we access the documents direct without use of the virtual-hosting. Has anybody the same problem or an idea how to solve this ? Martin

tree and dtml-with only not working for me

There's something funny about this tree tag. When this code is inside a tree tag it doesn't prevent acquisition. Code ---- <dtml-with this only> <dtml-var rubbish> </dtml-with> What do I need to do to make this work - should it be this.somethingOrOther? A zope fear...

Several times I have heard folks mention a fear of "not being able to get my files OUT of zope once they are in there." And usually the answer is "Well just back up your Data.fs file and don't worry about it." I think perhaps this answer doesn't actually address the root concern. I think the root concern is one that I am actually coming up against right now in debates about using Zope for a project. That is, if I stick with scripting languages or other traditional languages, if I need to, I can always fall back on text processing tools to make large global changes to my projects. How can I do this with zope? Many of us programmers are taught to learn to manipulate text like magic. Zope seems to take that power away from us. So, the real heart of my question here is: I just spent 3 months building a web site using Zope. Suddenly, we decide to change our database schema, and I now have to go through and change all 400 of my SQL methods in zope. How can I automate this process? How can I do this just like a good-ole multi file search and replace? Answers that don't count are: Use the find mechanism built into zope. - It's not powerful enough for this. Another: Your design shouldn't have relied on something that would change. - Well, it happens, now how do I fix it? A secondary question here is, what about "software configuration management" and zope? What if I need to return to an exact version of my web site for testing a certain bug that's now cropped up at a customer site. What's the easiest way to automate keeping old versions around without having to roll back my current changes. That is, without using the built in versioning? (Sorry, CVS *is* more powerful in some cases) -- Laugh when you can; cry when you must.

Zope file upload problem

Zopistas, I have a small problem here regarding uploading of files. We're setting up a site where people can upload their MP3 files. We've tested everything on our site, and everything seemed to work fine - until people started uploading with modems. They get timeouts, server not found etc. after around 5 minutes of uploading. First we thought that it might be because of our proxy setup with apache or - less likely - the external python method that handles the file, but when I dug out my old 14.4Kbps modem and tried uploading a 4MB file directly into Zope at port 9090, I got the same errors. Is there any kind of timeout settings in the ZServer I can tweak? Or is there something else going on? Please help! This is very frustrating, as 90% of our users are modem users... In other words, we use apache as a proxy for the ZServer. When we try to upload a file from our own computers (10Mbit network connection), all is fine and dandy. But when modem users try, or if we try with extraordinarily large files, we get the following error: Proxy Error The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server. The proxy server could not handle the request POST /artists/testartist/testtrack/add_mp3. Reason: Error sending from remote server. Apache/1.3.9 Server at mp3.no port 80

manage_afterAdd

Help, perhaps somebody from DC can help me swiftly? Is it possible to use your own manage_afterAdd method in a ZClass which is a descendant of CatalogAware Class? If so, how can you get this done? Does there exist something like 'inherited manage_afterAdd', like in other Object languages (eg Delphi?) : eg: def manage_afterAdd .... <blablabla my stuff blabla> inherited (and does now performs the method from the parent class) this doesn't seem to work : def manage_afterAdd ... <my stuff> catalogAware.manage_afterAdd ... Two web servers

Hi, Problem: I have two web servers on one machine. The first uses the standard port (80) the second (Zserver) uses port 8080. How can I point to a page on the first server from the second? Given: hostname: monica.usc.edu I've tried: href="//monica.usc.edu:80/... Results: * The page delivered to the browser has the site name including the ":80" stripped off. * Any foreign site name is NOT stripped off. Larry
