Maybe a set of guidelines or a template for docs for > user-contributed products would also be useful. This is a great idea. In fact the online help system that is currently in CVS and will be released in Zope 2.2 has support for authors of contributed products. They can use the help system to provide context sensitive help and general documentation for their products. However, I need to do more work to provide good examples for product authors. -Amos -- Amos Latteier mailto:amos@digicool.com Digital Creations http://www.digicool.com

<dtml-in> and list of dictionaries
by Petr Knapek 28 Feb '00

28 Feb '00

Hi Zopist, does anybody know how to put a list of dictionaries into <dtml-in> tag? I would like to call 'manage_addProperty(id, value, type)' and the variables id, value and type to store in a list of dictionaries for different properties. Authentication Problem
by Jonathan Donald 28 Feb '00

28 Feb '00

I'm having difficulty setting up users and roles. Obviously I'm missing something really obvious, but I can't figure out what. FWIW, this is v. 2.1.4 running on RedHat Linux 6. The Problem: I have a folder called Sites, at the top level of the Zope tree. Inside Sites/acl_users I've defined user "cedric". cedric has one role, anonymoususer, which has view privileges. When I try access http://mysever:8080/sites/ as "cedric," I get: Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Unauthorized You are not authorized to access this resource. Username and password are not correct. {traceback} {Troubleshooting suggestions} Any help is most appreciated. Thanks,

Grawl! the method works when the ZClass instance is moved (thus the myparent property is filled correctly), but it isn't filled when a ZClass instance is created! Why?? Tom.

dtml docs, methods and trees, newbie qs
by Andy Heath 28 Feb '00

28 Feb '00

Apologies if these are oft-asked q's but I can't find an obvious answer anywhere in the docs. It seems that if I put the simplest dtml-tree <dtml-tree> <dtml-var id> <dtml-tree> in a dtml method it works ok. If i put it in a dtml doc it doesn't. If I put it in a method then refer to that in a doc (with <dtml-var> that doesn't work either. Therefore if I want to use a tree I have to use a method. Is that correct? This brings up several q's. 1. How can I call a method and have it do its stuff from a doc? Tried evey which way but I can't get a tree to work by doing this. 2. Since I can't find anything I can't do with a method why have docs at all? 3. What is the most important piece of understanding I am missing to figure out answers to9 these q's. So our platforms are difference, but the issues is that I was able to get to a DB2 database via the ODBC driver.

Is this a known > problem. Is there a known workaround or patch? I believe that the aggregate column has a "name" which the DA doesn't like. Try aliasing it (the syntax for this depends on your RDBMS):: SELECT id,count(id) as count_id from data group by field -- ========================================================= Tres Seaver tseaver(a)palladion.com 713-523-6582 Palladion Software http://www.palladion.com

You did right, and I think it is a pity that it took the community that long to come to your aid. I know that _I_ misread one of the earlier posts and thought you had resolved your problem, so I'm glad you reposted it. I think I was responding to the "I'm fed up" rant which also showed up this weekend, as much as to your question, when talking about support. > I don't think it's easy for most of the folks here to get how foreign Zope > is to someone like myself.
