Hi, Concerning the zserver-threads config param... If I have an http-server, ftp-server and webdqv-source-server and if my global zserver-threads param is set to 10, does it mean : a)The the max number of http-server + ftp-server + webdav-source-server threads will be 10 ? b)The max number of http-server + ftp-server + webdav-source-server threads will be 30 (3 zservers) ? Emergency user not working?

Hi I have zope-2.7.2 installed but I can't seem to log into zope with the emergency user. I followed the instruction: cd /usr/lib/zope bin/zpasswd.py access Username: superuser Password: Verify password: Please choose a format from: SHA - SHA-1 hashed password (default) CRYPT - UNIX-style crypt password CLEARTEXT - no protection Encoding: Domain restrictions: and then I did /etc/init.d/zope restart but I still cannot log into zope. Am I doing anything wrong here? Thank you

Suppressing dupes in a concatenated ZCatalog query.

Hi All, I have a ZCatalog with two text indexes, news_subj and news_text. Each ZCatalog item also has a unique numeric ID. I'd like to search news_subj and news_text simultaneously, with the results checked for duplicates. In other words, if catalog item 1001 has the word "foobar" in both the news_subj and news_text fields, I only want it to show up once in my search results. Here's what I've got, so far: <dtml-in expr="mp_catalog({'news_text':'foobar'}) + mp_catalog({'news_subj':'foobar'})"> <dtml-var news_subj><br> </dtml-in> This correctly searches both fields, but, when "foobar" appears in both news_subj and news_text, the result is displayed twice. Can anyone give me a pointer on suppressing dupes in a concatenated ZCatalog query? I'm sure there's an easy answer, but I haven't been able to find it. Thanks in advance, Aaron

Pre-amble: I post this as a principal in a decently-sized Zope-focused business in the UK. Our company is also partnering with ZEA for some work. I will try to correct some of Rob's factual errors, and set the record straight for some of the issues discussed here. I am not an official spokesperson of ZEA, though - so bear in mind that what I'm saying here reflects what *I* (and my company) think about the situation, and not what ZEA thinks. I know a bit about why the decision to register the trademarks in Europe was made, why the managing partners of ZEA authorised it, and what's going on on the other side of the fence. The companies that constitute ZEA make up a large part of the professional Zope companies in Europe, and they have a lot to lose by the brand being insecure in Europe. ZEA's trademark experts helped Plone Foundation register the Plone trademark initially, and promptly transferred the ownership of the trademarks to the Plone Foundation, just as they are willing to do the same for Zope Foundation. Personally, I find it interesting that Zope Corporation insists on ownership of the trademark instead of putting it in the Foundation. The moment Zope Corporation goes bankrupt, any company can buy the remnants and name their interesting Java/.NET technology "Zope", and use the brand recognition to their advantage. Additionally, Zope Corporation is free to grant a company *exclusive* usage of the trademark "Zope" in any country. Say, for example that they decided to partner with a UK company to provide Zope services in the UK - that company could be granted exclusive rights to use the trademark Zope in that country, which I'm sure a lot of companies would have an issue with. After all, they have spent all this time building the brand of a competitor. This is very unfair to the companies that have spent time and effort building the Zope brand - which should be collectively owned by the community - hence Zope Foundation. If your trademark protection is supposed to make any sense, Zope *Foundation* should have ownership of the trademark - not Zope Corporation. ZEA at this moment represents more of the Zope community than Zope Corporation does. How can I manage permissions for imported ZPT files? Relevant lines from my Product: from AccessControl import ClassSecurityInfo class MyClass(....): security=ClassSecurityInfo() comment_add_form=PageTemplateFile('zpt/comment_add_form',globals()) My goal is to limit access to comment_add_form to the Authenticated role only. comment_add_form is on the filesystem, in my Product's zpt directory. what the namespace means in Script(python)?

Hi list: In Script(python) binding page. there is some description about namespace binding: When the script is called from DTML, this is the caller's DTML namespace, otherwise it is an empty namespace. Recommended value: |_| (underscore character) But in zope book, when talk about Error Handling in the Advanced Page Templates chapter. It looks that it use ZPT with script's namespace. See below. For more flexible error handling you can call a script. For example: <div tal:on-error="structure here/handleError"> ... </div> Any error that occurs inside the |div| will call the |handleError| script. Note that the |structure| option allows the script to return HTML. Your error handling script can examine the error and take various actions depending on the error. Your script gets access to the error through the |error| variable in the namespace. 2 Zope instances on a 2 CPU linux server

Hi, I would like to know what if using taskset (CPU affinity utility on linux) to bind each Zope instance to one single CPU can improve overall performance of both instances in any way ? As far a I know, python can not fully take advantage of 2 CPU cause python threads are not OS threads. Thanks. product organization

As usual, my question is rather simple :) I'd like to know what are the best practices for product organization - for example I have _tons_ of queries to sqlserver, and my main class is becoming less manageble every time I look at it :/ I like the way SQL integrates in Zope, what I don't like is having a giant __init__ and a lot of _sqlSomething at the end of the class. Can I associate queries to something else than a _variable ? Something like a dictionary or a class ? Can I move SQL calls outside the initializer ? I'd prefer to have a class for data access and another one to glue all the parts together, maybe I'm plain wrong but I think that my product would be a lot cleaner. DTML parsing outside of Zope

I would like to be able to parse a very basic DTML string (a ZSQLMethod on the file system actually) outside Zope, ie. without having the whole zserver running. The DTML inside the string is very basic. It doesn't use REQUEST or aqcuisition. It's using <dtml-if "1==2"> and stuff. I've tried looking on the source code but it's so damn complicated for me.
