Being a newbie and all, I hate to pipe in like this. However, the DTML manual reads: "Because of the /name/ attribute's frequent usage, there exists a short-hand version of the /name/ attribute in which the attribute name is omitted: Hello <dtml-var input_name capitalize>! When using the short-hand form of the /name/ attribute, the value is the first attribute in the tag and is not enclosed in quotation marks." Please stop me going mad. I created two python method. The first , called 'know_nothing' takes no parameters but returns the string "I know nothing", the second, called 'timesit" takes two parameters, multiplies them and returns the result. When I come to use them from within a DTML document why do I have to say <dtml-var "timesit(1,2)"> but <dtml-var know_nothing> I assume the top one is short for <dtml-var expr="timesit(1,2)"> whereas the second is short for <dtml-var name=know_nothing> (or even <dtml-var name="know_nothing"> since that seems to work as well) (am I right ?) and I think I understand that the name attribute is actually a function call with no parameters - right ? but why does <dtml-var expr="know_nothing" not return anything to the calling object ? Zope hanging on a dereference???

CatalogAware

I've a problem which I can't solve. I made a small ZClass and has CatalogAware as base class. However, when I add an instance of this ZClass in a folder, and when I've a ZCatalog (id: TestCatalog) then this instance isn't added in the list of 'TestCatalog'. I thought that a CatalogAware Class just could do this... a) Am I missing here something? b) I'm not quite sure, but is this adding to a Catolog done automatically or do you have to specify somewhere in which catalog instance (here TestCatalog) the object has to be listed? object icons

Hi, How can I assign icons to objects within my product. I am only registering one container class in the __init__.py of the product, but want other objects within the product to have icons even tho they are only explicitly created and added by the product itself. setting an icon='blah.gif' in the class doesn't work. Accessing Subobjects of a ZClass Instance

I created a ZClass containing -Base Classes both "Object Manager" and "Catalog Aware" -Subobjects both "Image" and "File". In a DTML-Methode all properties of an instance are shown by: <dtml-in "PARENTS[0].objectValues(['MyProduct'])"> <tr> <td><dtml-var myObjNr></td> <td><dtml-var myObjTitle></td> .... "myObjNr" is the id of each object. Some Objects contain a file or an image or both a file and an image. I upload two images "beach.gif" and "water.gif" to the instance e.g. "MyObj01". the tag <img src="<dtml-var myObjNr>/beach.gif"> this works fine and shows me the image "beach.gif". What I need to do that I can see all images or even better the whole content an instance contains ? Something like ???? syntax: <img src="<dtml-var myObjNr>/___content of an instance______"> thanks in advance nico

ZSQL Method Question

Hi, Does anyone know how I can find out the number of rows returned by a select statement in a Z SQL method? basically, I've got a form which has one row for each row in the database, I need to put a hidden count input in so the DTML method which processes the form knows how many rows to expect. There is a function, html_quote(), defined both in the StructuredText module and in DocumentTemplate/DT_Util.py, which escapes, the '<>&"' characters. I think you would need to apply this on the inbound side (as you were saving the STX) to make it effective. Anyone know how I can do the equivalent of the following in dtml: for (int i=0; i<count; i++) { ...stuff... } or even int i=0; while (i<count) { ..stuff.. i++; } cheers, Chris
