Sort in ascending order?
by Jason Spisak 22 Feb '00

Zopemisters, Is there anyway to sort objectValues() by bobobase modification time so that the most recent acced object is first? Right now sort puts it last. (Largest number I guess). All help appreciated, -- Jason Spisak 444(a)hiretechs.com

Works fine for me! http://www.zope.org/Members/tseaver/STX_Document Maybe you could explain what is wrong with your ZClasses? If the text is too long for the browser's textarea widget, you can also use a file-upload to populate it from your local hard drive (STX_Document illustrates file upload, too). searching Google and Catalog
by Timothy Wilson 22 Feb '00

22 Feb '00

Well not simultaneously, but I am wondering how I can create a search interface to both easily. I've got this little search form at my site. You can view the object itself at http://www.isd197.k12.mn.us/google_search2 My intentions are obvious if you look at the link. Based on a radio button in the form, I want to search either the ZCatalog or Google on a given search string. My first attempt was to start with the basic form (see link above) and then pass the search choice (web or school) and the search string to another DTML method which would, based on the value of the radio button choice, do the appropriate search. That's where I get stuck. I tried using a <dtml-call RESPONSE.redirect('http://www.google.com/search?q=<dtml-var string>')> This obviously won't work because I can't nest DTML tags. Plus, for Google the query URLs have the items in the search string separated by + symbols. Does anyone have any spare Zen for this? I think this would make an interesting How-To, and I promise to write one if I (with whatever help is necessary) get it figured out. BTW, I'd like to avoid Javascript if possible. I'm trying to go for the lowest common denominator here. -Tim -- Tim Wilson | Visit Sibley online: | Check out: Henry Sibley HS | http://www.isd197.k12.mn.us/ | http://www.zope.org/ W. Bad..very bad

Reply-To: Okay I don't know how I've gone and done such a stupid thing....(working with zope while I was too tired) but I've locked myself out of a folder that has a GUF under it. Do I have any recourse (other than delete the folder which hasa few dtml methods I would rather not recreate) and start over? I've tried undo but I had already packed my database. The __no_before_traverse__ doesn't work with this unfortunatly. Any tips? Or places to look for said tips? Thakns in advance, -- John E. The library loader can't find libmysqlclient.so.6. You can add the path to your LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable, or create a symlink to the file from a directory that's already in the library path (like /usr/lib or /usr/local/lib). -jfarr ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hi! reading of binary files
by Terry Kerr 22 Feb '00

22 Feb '00

Hi, I encountered this problem when my product tries to load image files from the local drive. The code is below: file="blah" ob._setObject(file,OFS.Image.Image(file,file,"","image/gif")) data = f.read() ob._getOb(file).manage_upload(data) This works fine in zope under linux, but in zope under windows, the data is trucated. This is a python problem in windows. f.read() returns a string that is only a fraction of the length of the image file. Is there a way around this problem? Has anybody else encountered this problem? terry

You don't show us how you open the file object, f; the default is to open it is "text" mode, which is the same as binary mode on a Unix box, but *not* on Windows. Try: f = open( 'bla.gif', 'rb' ) instead of f = open( 'blah.gif', 'r' ) -- ========================================================= Tres Seaver tseaver(a)palladion.com 713-523-6582 Palladion Software http://www.palladion.com

Z SQL Methods
by Pedro Silva 22 Feb '00

22 Feb '00

Hi, When I create a Z SQL Method just to create a table, did I need to put any arguments in? I created the follow SQL Method: id - sqlcreate_table Connection id - agendaDB Arguments - (I didn't put anything here) Query String: CREATE TABLE registos ( nome VARCHAR(10), apelido VARCHAR(10), morada VARCHAR(50), localidade VARCHAR(30), casa INT(10), telemovel INT(10), data_nasc VARCHAR(10) ) The nome, apelido, morada, localidade, casa, telemovel and data_nasc will be the columns. When I push the Add and Test button it show up message: the query requires no input. Then I puch the Submit Query and an error is showed up: Syntax Error!!! Do I need to put any arguments? Where is the syntex error? This Table is to be used to store some information from a form. I maybe will need to create two more SQL Methods, one to add the form information to the respective column and another to show the table. Like to do a search to the content of the table. Is my idea right, or I need much more stuff to do? I would like some help, if you could help me, please send your answers to: psilva(a)ruido-visual.pt Thanks, Pedro
