Cool monkey patch to make tracebacks more useful :-)

Hi All, Ever noticed how tracebacks from ZPT are actually quite useful when viewed through the error_log object, but totally useless when they fail, say, in a unit test? This bugged me, so I had a dig, and just discovered this cool monkey patch, to be inserted in any module that gets imported before an exception is raised: import traceback from zExceptions.ExceptionFormatter import format_exception traceback.format_exception = format_exception So now I'm mailing you lot for two reasons: 1. This makes life a lot easier when debugging failing unit tests and looking through entries in event.log that have tracebacks, so I thought I'd share it :-) 2. I wonder if there's anything bad that can happen as a result of this? Forcing Zope transaction commit

Hi list, At times (it seems) necessary to force a Zope transaction commit. This might occur between two zSQL calls where the second depends on the first's *SQL* transaction's availability but the first has not yet been commited because the *Zope* transaction that includes both zSQL calls has not yet been commited. I handled this with a call to an external script as below, eg . zSql1() . pyCommit() zSql2() Publish new page Here's pyCommit() # ............................................................... # Extenstion/pyCommit.py # ............................................................... from ZODB import FileStorage,DB def commit( self ): t = get_transaction() # ZODB builtin if t: t.commit() # ............................................................... Thats it. And it solved my problem. Is there a reason why this is a bad idea, all things being equal? A better way to do it, when needed? Thanks, David

errors starting zmi

Hello members, i am trying to start ZMI thru mozilla by http://localhost:8080/manage but it says 'localhost.com could not be found.Please check the name and try again.' though i ve already started Zope in the foreground..Moreover, it displays the port as 8080.. i also tried starting zmi by http://(hostname):8080/manage but even this didnt work out What can b the problem?? Creating Photo object from an Image object

Hi, I have a problem with the "Photo" product. I want to create a Photo object from an existing Image object. I have a form with id and title input tags which are initialized with appropriate values from a special folder where the Image objects resides . Now I have written a PythonSript to handle the creation of a new Photo object #id1,title1 image id and tile def doAddPhoto(id1, title1): # some comments .... img = context.getObjectById(id1) # this returns the object part of object item array from context.objectItems s="ph" +str(id1) context.manage_addPhoto(id=s, file=img.data,title=title1, displays=None, precondition='', content_type='image/jpeg') (line 12) If I submit the form, an error occurs: Traceback (innermost last): Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 101, in publish Module ZPublisher.mapply, line 88, in mapply Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 39, in call_object Module Shared.DC.Scripts.Bindings, line 306, in __call__ Module Shared.DC.Scripts.Bindings, line 343, in _bindAndExec Module Products.PythonScripts.PythonScript, line 323, in _exec Module None, line 12, in doAddPhoto - <PythonScript at /www.ecommerce.de/doAddPhoto> - Line 12 AttributeError: manage_addPhoto When I try it with context.manage_addImage everything works fine. I can't figure out why the above Exception is thrown, the source code of Photo's manage_addPhoto function looks as similar as the manage_addImage function of the Image class (from which Photo is derived) and i have no clue where the pitfall is. numeric formatting

Hi List, I will have to format numbers based on country and currency types. I understand the locale module can do this. I've done some googling on this but cant seem to get anything definitive. I've read that the local module is not thread-safe but I do not know how this would impact my Zope app. I do know that I would want to be able to change from one currency format to another depending on which currency conversation the user may want. Really my question is, what approach is recommended for a Zope application to format numbers according to currency type? David

Hi everyone, I just finished migrating the CMF and related projects from cvs.zope.org to svn.zope.org, from CVS to Subversion. All tags and branches have moved, unlike Zope itself there won't be some development using CVS and some using Subversion. These are the packages: - CMF - CMF_Hotfixes - CMF_Extras They packages became new toplevel projects at svn.zope.org, as can be seen here: http://svn.zope.org/ Pending final agreement on the CMF list (or an overriding word from the CMF Pope himself) svn.zope.org will now be the canonical location for CMF sources. They are accessed just like Zope 2.8 and Zope trunk as described here: http://www.zope.org/DevHome/Subversion/ZopeSVNFAQ The only difference is, of course, the last element in the path. Eveerything else works as described in the document linked above. The packages are at... /repos/main/[CMF|CMF_Extras|CMF_Hotfixes] ***To all CMF developers***: Please change your sandboxes and convert them to SVN. If you see any problem please make it known on the CMF list as soon as possible. No data is lost on cvs.zope.org, so if there are show-stoppers we can always switch back to using CVS. Please **do not** commit into cvs.zope.org or svn.zope.org until we have a "yay" or "nay" on which repository we go forward with. ***Next steps***: If we have agreement on using svn.zope.org a couple cleanup tasks need to be done, such as... - "Close off" or "freeze" the CMF projects on cvs.zope.org to either disallow checkins or bring up big fat warnings if someone tries to. Input and ideas on this are welcome, if it was up to me I would use the "commitinfo" file in the CVSROOT to completely prevent updates as the first step. - Change any references to cvs.zope.org in the CMF code to their svn.zope.org equivalents - Change any references to cvs.zope.org on the project web pages, mostly http://www.zope.org/Products/CMF, to point to the svn.zope.org equivalent - Change any download instructions that use CVS to instructions for SVN jens

How to upload a file and save it in a physical path

Maybe it is a basic question but how can I upload a file and save it anywhere on the server's hard drive? I know how to upload a file to zope's database but not how to save it locally... Anyone can help please? Thanks in advance Remy

Hello, How it is possible to wrap the response of a subtree? For example, for the path /foo/bar/baz, a script located at /foo/wrapper would catch the output of the rest of the request path (./bar/baz) and do a transformation upon it (gzip, xslt, etc).
