LDAPUSerFolder permission problem

I'm trying to access the getProperty() method of the LDAPUser class in a Python script, in order to access the Active Directory email address of the user. There is no problem with this, if I use the method on the current active user. However, it doesn't work when I attempt to use the method on another property. The output of VerboseSecurity is: *Error Type: Unauthorized* *Error Value: Your user account does not have the required permission. Access to 'getProperty' of nwuser denied. Your user account, abuser, exists at /acl_users. Access requires one of the following roles: ['Manager']. Your roles in this context are ['Anonymous', 'Authenticated', 'User'].* It appears that the currently authenticated used has the 'View' permission (required to use getProperty) on itself, but not for other users. I'm not sure how to change this. In order to get around this problem, I've tried giving the script a Proxy role of Manager. However, when I do this, i get the following output from VerboseSecurity: *Error Type: Unauthorized* *Error Value: The owner of the executing script is defined outside the context of the object being accessed. The script has proxy roles, but they do not apply in this context.. Access to 'getProperty' of nwuser denied. Access requires one of the following roles: ['Manager']. The executing script is (PythonScript at /DCARF/Forms/initialContact/initialContact), owned by admin1. * ** I'm not sure why this is occurring. Giving the script a proxy role of Manager should get around the first problem, but I'm not sure why it doesn't. Any ideas what is causing this?

userFolder that holds user's email

Hi I'm looking for a zope (not plone) userFolder that can hold the user's email and perhaps full name. It should be the same authentication method, but with additional fields. Do I have to write one myself or are there already products that have this feature? thanx -- Haim

Passing a variable to RESPONSE.redirect

Is it possible to pass a variable to RESPONSE.redirect or does the page name have to be a literal string? I was unable to pass in a variable via the REQUEST object (i.e. REQUEST.get('pageName')) or the SESSION attribute of the REQUEST object (i.e. REQUEST.SESSION.get('pageName')). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. - Asad

String Replacement Function

Is it possible to replace more than 1 type of character in a string simultaneously? If so, what is the correct syntax for this? I am currently using the following: <dtml-var "_.string.replace(testString, _.chr(10), '<br />')"> For this string, I want to replace both newlines and carriage returns (_.chr(13)) with the break tag. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. - Asad

Helpdesk/Call Logging in Plone

I'm looking for ideas on how to implement a call logging/helpdesk ticketing system utilizing Plone. Any ideas? Before everyone responds "try PloneCollector," I'm looking into it. However, I need some ideas, as I'm new to Plone (researched last couple weeks and installed yesterday). I'm not looking for anything sophisticated, but useful. I also saw a posting on the sf list that mentioned "mailmanager," so I'm looking into that, too. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. -aa

Hi. I've posted this in more detail before, but the general processs i've been using to update Zope lately is: # Backup <path-to>/Data.fs # Put the new zope tarball somewhere like... cd /home/myhome/src/zope/276/<zopesrcname> gunzip <zopesrcname>.gz tar -xvf <zopesrcname>.tar mv <zopesrcname> zope276 cd zope276 #Assuming you want to put your new zope in /var #Assuming you have a recent python ./configure --prefix=/var/zope276 --with-python="/usr/bin/python2.3" make make install # Assuming your prior zope version is still running and that it # is installed as a service. service zopectl stop change references in /var/zope-instance/bin/zopectl change references in /var/zope-instance/bin/runzope service zopectl start # This way I can leave prior versions of zope on the system in # case I need to revert. For instance, I had lots of legacy # and Plone problems with 2.8 so went back to 2.76 by just # changing references in zopectl I hope that helps. As announced earlier elsewhere, Hurrah, Inc. will cease all Zope hosting activities effective August 12, 2005. I sincerely thank all the members and contributors of the Zope community, past and present, and especially Zope Corp for their creation and continued support of the Zope product. I've watched quietly from the sidelines as Zope and its supporters accomplished a lot in the last six years, and I wish all the best in the years to come. I'd also like to take this opportunity to say I'm a big fan of PCGI for stable, simple, shared Zope hosting. Yes, I'm the one, and it was used on every single Zope instance I ever had my hand in creating, including Zope 2.7 versions.
