Ok, so how do we do a temporary redirect? Problem accessing Alias'd columns from SQL query...
by Robert Geiger 02 Feb '00

I have a MySQL connector working fine with several queries. I made another query and it has Alias'd columns. When I try to access the columns to lay out a table using <dtml-var ColumnName> the Alias'd columns raise an error. See below. Thanks for any assistance on this matter. --------ERROR INFO------------- Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. You can write a Python script which uses ZClient to call a "manage_upload" method (or whatever you call the method which stuffs the email into Zope), and then invoke that script from procmail or whatever your MDA is. You may even be able to run the client directly as a script, e.g.:: $ZOPE_HOME/bin/python $ZOPE_HOME/lib/python/ZPublisher/Client.py \ -u someuser:herpassword http://myserver/loadMail \ message:file=/tmp/msgFile.txt (all on one line, removing the backslashes). The How-To at http://www.zope.org/Members/lstaffor/ZClientMethod covers using ZClient from within Zope (to make one Zope instance a client of another). -- ========================================================= Tres Seaver tseaver(a)palladion.com 713-523-6582 Palladion Software http://www.palladion.com

ZClass Hierarchies
by Robert W. Erb 02 Feb '00

02 Feb '00

<pre> I want to create the following classes: Human Unregistered Human (base class Human) Registered Human (base class Human) Customer (base class Registered Human) Employee (base class Registered Human) Manager (base class Employee) Following the ZClasses tutorial, I make a new product, PeopleProduct. Inside PeopleProduct, I create a ZClass for Human. It seems like my Human ZClass is available as a base class only inside PeopleProduct, so I add a ZClass for Unregistered_Human there, based on Human. Following this pattern, I end up with six new ZClasses all defined in PeopleProduct. Is this the way to do it? It appears suspiciously messy to me. BTW - Thanks to DC for a cool thing and this list for the help it's been to a frustrated struggling newbie. - Bob </pre>

That should read "has an improper mode bit setting". Drugs. They'll get you every time. If you don't have permission to ungzip the file, probably has an mode bit setting or is owned by a different user. su to root chmod 777 Yourfile.tgz exit gunzip Yourfile.tgz That should do it. Newbie, trying to follow the installation HOWTO...
by addyd＠unk.edu 02 Feb '00

02 Feb '00

As a linux newbie, I like the ease with which I can install and delete packages with Redhat Package Manager (on a machine for which I have root privilege). The installation/Upgrade HOWTO is (explicitly) not for RPM installation. The HOWTO discusses some security features that I would like to impliment (like "installing as a User", "starting as Root", and "running as Nobody"). I'd like to follow those suggestions, but have to use the Zope-2.1.2.ppc.rpm that I created from a src.rpm . Problem is... you must install and delete RPMs as root, so I can't take the good security advise above. So, I've decided to try dumping the rpms and installing from src (no LinuxPPC binary that I can find). If anyone has a suggestion for using the rpm and achieving the goals of the HOWTO, I'm open to suggestions. Trying to follow the suggestions in the HOWTO, I have followed them to the letter (installing as a user) but have Permission Denied when I even try to gunzip the .tgz source file. Assuming I have a permission problem here. I have the directories set up exactly as shown in the HOWTO: owner group nobody myusername I have done an su to my username from root before attempting the gunzip. Does "nobody" have to belong to group "myusername"? I looked at /etc/group with vigr, but nowhere can I find a file telling me what the lines in /etc/group mean (how to edit them). At this point, I don't even know if it is necessary. I know this has to be kindergarten stuff here, but I've never worked with anything where the owner was different from the group (though after reading the HOWTO I can see how it would be useful). If anyone can remember what it was like to be this ignorant... please take pity on me. :>) Darren Addy University of Nebraska at Kearney

I am getting the following Zope error when trying to use the ZODBC connection : ('S1000', 16394, '[FileMaker][ODBC FileMaker Pro driver][FileMaker Pro]Connect failed') FileMaker says it supports basic SQL queries over ODBC and includes an ODBC driver which I have setup as per instructions. thanks for any info., Darcy

manage_upload
by John E. Vincent 02 Feb '00

In response to my own previous email about uploading files, I have another question: Has manage_upload been replaced by manage_addFile? I was reading basically every email message from the past 4 months on the archives to try and see if had possbily been answered and at some point everything regarding upload files via a form starts refering to manage_addFile instead of manage_upload.
