Is there a way to reorder the elements displayed on a property sheet other than deleting all the properties and re-entering them in the proper order or defining a custom property editing view? simple DTML question ...

It's 12:30 am and I've been Zoping for 15 hours without a break. I just ran into a problem that can be pared down to the following example ... Create a DTML method: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-var "foobar(year='chosen_year')"> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> and try to render it where foobar is another DTML method: <input type=text name="<dtml-var year>:int" value='<dtml-var "ZopeTime()" fmt="%Y">'> I suspect the source of my misunderstanding can be put in an even simpler example. If foobar contains only <dtml-var "ZopeTime()"> then calling foobar via <dtml-var "foobar"> returns the unevaluated DTML. Why is this? I wandered through Amos' "Advanced DTML" How-To but I'm not thinking clearly. I can probably figure it out tomorrow but I would dearly love to awake in the morning and find the source of my confusion awaiting in my Inbox. Cheers, darran. Site-wide (global) variables ...

I'm looking for advice on implementing site-wide (global) variables in Zope. That is, I want certain variables to be accessible to every folder, ZClass, method and document in the ZODB. Should I simply add these properties to the root folder and then make use of aquisition or is there a more elegant approach (say a globals singleton object that lives in the root)?

Does anyone here know when will the Adapter for Oracle 8i be ready for us to use? Any plan at all? If there is any, what is the time frame? Thanks.

Hi James, If you sort by modification time in reverse order and set batchsize to 1 then I think you'll get the latest instance. Example: <dtml-in "Catalog.searchResults()" sort=bobobase_modification_time reverse size=1> ... </dtml-in> I'm not sure it's the best way, though. Checking the state of a database connection

How does one check to see if a database connection is up and running? What I want to do is check to see if the connector is connected. If not, redirect the browser to another page. I tried a try/try but didn't seem to catch the exception. Also, can you put a redirect command in the standard_html_header? Return from ZSQL Update?

Greetings! I've got a SQL Method which does an update on a table. Obviously, when the row I'd like to update exists, the SQL method works fine, but when the row isn't there to begin with, the SQL method just does nothing. Is there a way to find out if the update actually changed a row or not? (And if not, do an alternate INSERT statement instead of the UPDATE.) I would have expected to get an error back from the SQL method, but I get nothing. I'm using an Oracle database connection. (Larger Picture: Obviously one solution would be to do a SELECT on the table to determine if the row exists, and then do an UPDATE or INSERT depending on the results of the select, but I'd rather not do two SQL statements for every update I'm trying to do.) MySQL Methods and Names?

Hi All, I have been setting up a MySQL database for book selling, and came across what seems to be a slight problem. I have a table with a column called 'title'. When I wrote the ZSQL method, using the following code: SELECT title FROM titles WHERE <dtml-sqltest title column=title op=like type=string> if the user hits RETURN without entering a value for title, Zope seems to look up the folder hierarchy and insert the title of the document.
