Your "REQUEST.form" does not contain "SERVER_NAME". You may try "REQUEST['SERVER_NAME']". Remember: "REQUEST.form" contains just the form variable or parameter definitions in the URL's query string. "REQUEST" contains other information in "REQUEST.cookies", "REQUEST.other" and "REQUEST.environ", all of which are accessible through "REQUEST[...]". "SERVER_NAME" is a CGI variable, defined in "REQUEST.environ". Dieter

Ronald L. Roeber writes: > self.manage_editProperties(REQUEST=None,contact=newcontact) > ... > > Error Type: TypeError > Error Value: unexpected keyword argument: contact "manage_editProperties" has the following signature: def manage_editProperties(self, REQUEST) As you see, there is indeed no parameter named "contact". You can do instead: self.manage_editProperties({'contact' : newcontact}) This means, you build a dictionary with the new property values and pass it as REQUEST. Be WARNED: "manage_editProperties" changes *ALL* properties of your object, even those not mentioned in the dictionary! What you may want to use instead is "manage_changeProperties". It will change just the mentioned properties, 'contact' in your example. I think, you find this information in the Zope integrated help system (API Reference, Property Manager). If not, then look at the source: OFS.PropertyManager.PropertyManager. It contains good source documentation. Dieter

Someone repeats the HEAD HTTP request. Look at the Apache log. You should see there similar requests. The first component in each log line is the the hostname or its internet address from where the request came (may be a proxy). Maybe, this information gives you a hint about the requests origin. I suspect that you may be using a CLIENT proxy (configured in your Netscape or MSIE setup) which has the Zope document cached. Or that you may have some additional authentication configured into your Apache that interferes with the ProxyPass directive! You should not impose Apache authentication on the subtree that's ProxyPassed back to the ZServer - let Zope handle that.

Automatically submitting forms
by Timothy Grant 05 Jan '00

05 Jan '00

Hi again, I have a situation where I'd like to automatically "press" a submit button. I have a form that acts more like a sub-routine. It simply processes a query, if the query is not successful, it displays and error message, if the query is successful it puts some data in a list and then asks then presents a "Continue" button. I'd really like to eliminate the use of the continue button, but don't know how to get the results of my lists to the next form without doing so. I guess I would like to programmatically submit the form if user intervention is not required. -- Stand Fast, tjg. I've tried several things, e.g. > > ... > <dtml-with FileLibrary> > <dtml-call "REQUEST.PARENTS.append(_)">... <dtml-call "REQUEST.PARENTS.append(FileLibrary)"> would do it, but would be *VERY* hacky code. Instead: Give your method a parameter, say "sourcefolder". In your method: <dtml_in "(_.has_key('sourcefolder') and sourcefolder or PARENT[0]).objectValues('File')"> (You may want to factor the "(_.has_key....PARENT[0])" out.) Then, when your method should use a special folder, use: <dtml-let sourcefolder=whatever> <dtml-var FileLibrary> </dtml-let> Dieter

newbie questions about zope with apache
by jeffr＠odeon.net 05 Jan '00

05 Jan '00

Greetings all, I'm having problems getting zope running with Apache. I've got mod_rewrite compiled into apache (confirmed with httpd -l). The ZServer daemon is running, and I can connect to it at www.odeon.net/cgi-bin/Zope.cgi The QuickStart material linked from the above location all works fine. When I try to go to www.odeon.net/cgi-bin/Zope.cgi/manage it pops up the username/password box. After entering the username and password as defined in the zope/access file I get a message that says Unauthorized. The URL appears correct, and the information being passed to Zope is correct. The following is being logged in zope.log: 127.0.0.1:- - [05/Jan/2000:21:18:03 -0500] "GET Zope/manage" 1775 System information is as follows: RedHat linux version 6.0 Kernel version 2.2.13 Apache version 1.3.9 I suspect the problem is in the rewrite rules: RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^/static/(.*) /home/httpd/html/$1 [l] RewriteRule ^/cgi-bin/(.*) /home/httpd/cgi-bin/$1 [e=HTTP_CGI_AUTHORIZATION:%1,t=application/x-httpd-cgi,l] RewriteCond %{HTTP:Authorization} ^(.*) RewriteRule ^/(.*) /home/httpd/cgi-bin/Zope/$1 [e=HTTP_CGI_AUTHORIZATION:%1,t=application/x-httpd-cgi,l] Any help would be greatly appreciated, Jeff Robertson jeffr(a)odeon.net

wrong content-type from Z Search Interface
by menezes＠curiango.ipen.br 05 Jan '00

Hi, I'm having some strange problems with a Z Search Interface. With some queries it returns wrong content-type (octect-stream instead of text/html). How can I fix this? Where is the problem: dtml-code sligth modified by me (most aestetical changes) or sql data returned by MySQL? The problem is reproductible: whenever I try some keywords, I get a download prompt instead a html rendered page. Thanks, []s, Mario ------------------------------------------------- This mail sent through IMP: http://horde.org/imp/

ZCatalog
by Magnus Heino 05 Jan '00

05 Jan '00

Hi. I am trying to add a ZCatalog to my site, and have come up with a few questions/problems about ZCatalog and how one sould implement things: 1. It doesn't handle åäö! I have setup my zcatalog to to text indexes, but when I search on something containing åäö, nothing is found. Everything else works. I thought this was fixed some versions ago? 2. I want to index on what the dtml document index_html looks like when it is renderd, not what the source looks like. Example: DTML method foo contains some text. index_html includes this method with <dtml-var foo>. I want to get index_html when I search, not foo, even if foo is the one containing the text. 3. DTML documents and methods don't update themself in the catalog, right? Why? Do I have to do it manually everytime I update something, or is there a better way? How is the Zope site done? Thanks, -- /Magnus Heino
